World of Final Fantasy may not look like a modern open-world action RPG. But instead, it brings colorful environments, an enjoyable story, great combat mechanics and, most importantly, nostalgia at its best. This Square Enix game was made for the Final Fantasy fan who loves the series and its iconic characters. It may not have the best narrative and dialogue, but it will give players tons of entertainment on many different levels.

If you’re like me, a thirty-something long-time Final Fantasy fan looking to recapture some of the magic you once felt around pretty teens and saving the world, there’s a game coming out for you next month, and it’s called Final Fantasy XV. Fingers crossed.

World of Final Fantasy might not be the Final Fantasy game everyone is talking about this year, but its addictive gameplay and entertaining callbacks make it a must-play.

Billed as a grand, lavish piece of fan service, this is as much a tribute to Pok'mon's charms as those of the series whose name it bears.

This nostalgia-fueled collectathon is a pleasant, if juvenile, tour of Final Fantasy's greatest hits.

World of Final Fantasy is a solid, enjoyable and nostalgic trip through the history of the franchise. It's cheesy, cheery and a lot of fun to play. The solid combat system and enjoyable humor carry the game through some noticeable bumps in the road. A few half-baked mechanics and a somewhat unnecessary turn toward the serious dull some of the game's shine, but the issues aren't enough to take away from the enjoyment. Fans of the franchise should find a lot to like in this well-made JRPG.

World of Final Fantasy is a strong JRPG, and is a delight for fans of the franchise with cameos and callbacks at every turn. But newcomers may find it hard to get stuck in with the story does everything it can to turn you away.

Square Enix celebrates three decades of its marquee franchise with a nostalgia-filled love letter in “World of Final Fantasy.” Featuring wonderful visuals, classic turn-based fighting plus cameos of beloved characters from series lore, the game hits a lot of the right spots for Final Fantasy fans. Add a monster-capturing mechanic and you’ve got something that will interest fans both young and old. The kiddie presentation and focus on two young protagonists who act their age might turn off some gamers. Monster management on the field also can be a bit of pain. If you’re pining for old-school Final Fantasy with stellar production values and a big serving of Pokemon, however, this is one world you’ll definitely want to visit.

I vastly enjoyed my time with World of Final Fantasy. The stacking system is one of the most innovative additions the studio has made to Final Fantasy’s traditional turn-based combat, and your hoarder compulsion could kick in if you choose to delve into Mirage collection.

World of Final Fantasy is a very good game. Sure the voice acting is horrible and the main characters are plain but overall it’s actually a good game.

World of Final Fantasy is a charming turn-based RPG filled with familiar characters, settings, and music to make any fan of the series happy. While it's adorable setting, interesting story, and new combat mechanics provide hours of fun, it eventually becomes tediously repetitive and the fights become monotonous. Even creating and customizing stacks loses its luster when you start resorting to familiar "tried and tested" combinations. The game could have definitely benefited from a much shorter campaign.

I don’t know exactly how the idea to create World of Final Fantasy came about in the halls of Square Enix, but it’s a game that could have been so much better had it been given different focus. As it is, it’s a relatively enjoyable RPG that offers up some legitimately enjoyable moments while simultaneously causing you to sit in bewilderment at what you’re experiencing.

Supplying great fan service is certainly not an issue with World of Final Fantasy, but instead, its problems are with its throwaway plot and eventually unchallenging combat.

World of Final Fantasy is so much bigger than any other Final Fantasy spinoff I’ve experienced. Out of the gate, it’s an incredibly lengthy JRPG with full voice acting, cutscenes everywhere, hundreds of characters, and more. There’s a fair amount of fluff and filler spread throughout the lengthy RPG, but its tail end features some great nostalgia trips and fun character moments. It’s a great celebration of the legacy of Final Fantasy that’s a blast for fans old and new.

World of Final Fantasy rightly represents the series' 30 years of history, with a classic JRPG gameplay experience modernized by an excellent presentation, very good writing and several well-crafted gameplay mechanics. As the simple dungeon layouts and low difficulty level suggest, the game is mostly aimed towards a younger, less experienced audience, but veterans of the Final Fantasy series shouldn't be put off by this, as the well-implemented fan service more than makes up for it. Highly recommended to all JRPG enthusiasts.
