A beautiful game in several ways, Jotun is a treat that Wii U owners should not pass up.

Jotun: Valhalla Edition is a fantastic game from cover to cover. From the Icelandic voice over that plays as you read the plight of Thora to the painterly vistas of Norse hell and the trials, tribulations and boss battle in between, it is an artful title that marries slick and simple game play with poignant storytelling in a way few games can. The less you know about it going in the more grandiose the experience will be; yet if you must know something, know that Jotun: Valhalla Edition is definitely worth your time.

Jotun: Valhalla Edition is a marvelous effort that clearly stands out amidst the indie games pool. With its rich visual environment, very engaging boss battles, extremely demanding combats that will require full commitment from the player and recurrent replay value, this is a game that will certainly keep everyone clinging on to their Wii U GamePad for a very long time.

When it comes down to it, Jotun: Valhalla Edition is a perfect fit for the Nintendo Switch, offering players an easy to digest action adventure title that visually takes full advantage of the Switch's large screen real-estate.

The length of the game is short but a lot of fun. The hand-drawn graphics are incredible, and the level of polish is very pleasing. My favorite part was the orchestrated music in the background – I found it to be quite relaxing. Playing the game for my Jotun: Valhalla Edition review was a great time, and I’ll be giving it another go soon. Unfortunately for me, the game’s Platinum trophy is something I probably won’t be able to get becasue there’s several very challenging trophies in this list such as the speedrun trophies for which you’ll have to do perfect boss battles.

Rich, hand-drawn worlds inspired by the tapestry of Nordic legends and lore make Jotun a fantastical and breathtaking journey, although it sometimes feels barren between the big encounters.

Despite the occasional frame rate issue and immense challenge, Jotun is a game that lovers of old school action adventure titles will love. Combining beautiful, hand drawn visuals with immensely rewarding gameplay, I loved the time I spent with it. It’s a game that draws players in with its beauty, and keeps them coming back with smart boss design and a feeling of accomplishment that few games today manage to grasp.

Jotun is the first game in a while that fully pulled me into its world. The lands of Viking myth are here brought to stunning life and the epic boss battles with the numerous Giants are the icing on the game cake. Easily the most Viking game since The Banner Saga.

"The game follows the Norse mythology, which we often see only vague allusions to in gaming. The dialogue is all subtitled Scandinavian, keeping true to the Nordic tone. This, the subtle lilting music and the animation all blend together well to make Jotun feel like a playable fairy tale, albeit a rather grim one"

This game is great. If you like hand-drawn art in games like Muramasa and epic boss battles akin to Monster Hunter then this is the game for you. Overall the presentation, music, sound, and level design is just as epic as the story.

We liked the gorgeous hand-drawn visual style of this Jotun: Valhalla Edition, and liked the gameplay as well. The game took a while to make it to the PlayStation 4, but the wait has been worth it. Having a full trophy list is always a plus, and it will be interesting to see how many manage 100% it. We both enjoyed our time with the game for our Jotun: Valhalla Edition review, and look forward to returning to its fantasy setting very soon.

A great indie game, not long but good price for what it is. The art style is fantastic, and the sound design is brilliant, but gameplay can feel frustrating at times.

Jotun offers the exploration and storytelling of Bastion, and combines it with the epic battles of Shadow of the Colossus. What’s not to like?

Jotun: Valhalla Edition may not be the longest game, but at a nice $15 price for a solid 5-hour experience, it's more than recommended. If you've played it before on other platforms, it may not do much new that begs you to buy it again, but if you're looking for an excellent adventure on the Switch you could do a whole lot worse.

Jotun: Valhalla Edition features some of the most exciting boss fights in gaming mixed with lovely visuals and a decent story. It just needed some trimming of the filler to truly be a classic, but this new mode at least introduces a mode that's just that.
