A masterful re-up with a great story, a beautifully grim world and exciting, fast-paced gameplay. And that price point makes it essential.

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is one of the best remasters this generation. Not only is this game fantastic, but it is also one of several hidden gems a lot of gamers may have missed its first time around.

If you tend to play on the go, then having that flexibility with one of the best third person action/adventure games in the last decade is a strong selling point.

THQ Nordic did a very nice job handling this remaster. All the mechanics that made the original Darksiders a hit are still there and thriving. Small technical issues held this game back from a more perfect score. Keep it up THQ Nordic and let's see the third entry soon!

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is the perfect example of how to port a game over to the less-powerful Nintendo Switch. Giving the players the option of if they prefer the resolution or the framerate, and actually having some noticeable differences, was the best decision the developers could have had. Instead of opting for fancy gimmicks or trying to convert the game to utilise the motion controls or touch screen, the game is a perfect 1:1 recreation of the 2016 remaster which was released on other consoles, only with the added benefit of taking it with you whenever and wherever you want.

Darksiders is a fantastic game that successfully merges elements from Zelda and God of War to make a gritty classic all its own.

There's been no shortage of great games this year, but Darksiders: Warmastered Edition still holds up exceptionally well, and it's easy to recommend. It's not quite as fresh and exciting as it was in 2010, but I still think it's something everyone should try out. If you've played it before, it's worth revisiting. If you haven't, it's a solid adventure that's well worth your time. The budget price makes it a great value, with a campaign that will take most people between 12 to 20 hours to complete. I'm glad to see that THQ Nordic seems interested in keeping the series in the public eye, and I hope this means that the Darksiders franchise will be resurrected. I look forward to seeing how Pestilence and Famine will play in Darksiders 3 and 4.

Even playing it my third time through, I still found it absolutely delightful. While its original weak points remain present in this remaster, so to do its strengths shine through. The customizable performance options, coupled with the Switch's portability make this my favorite way to play an excellent game. Bring on Darksiders II and Darksiders III.

Sure, it's an old game and it's been released and re-released a few times but on Switch, Darksiders Warmastered truly shines brighter than ever before.

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is bare-bones remaster of a great game that released back in 2010. It looks better, it even runs a little better, but the same issues that plagued the original plague the remaster.

Darksiders is still a beautiful game, that follows the classic Zelda formula, with an apocalyptic setting and comic style characters. It is the same game released for Wii U, with no additions.

Darksiders is the same game it was back in 2010; a fantastic experience. The addition of enhanced visuals and a smoother frame rate only bolsters that fact. For new players, the Warmastered Edition is an enjoyable journey that encapsulates all the things that makes Darksiders great. For veterans of the series, saddle up Ruin and join War for another adventure. The apocalypse never looked so inviting!

1080p and 60fps (or even 4K and 60fps on PS4 Pro) and the very good price of 19,99 euros give the game a new chance to be enjoyed.

While not the definitive version, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is no slouch on the Nintendo Switch. Whether played in graphics or performance mode, docked or handheld, it's still an outstanding version of an already outstanding game.

Minor conversion issues aside that can likely be solved, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition has the intrinsic fortune of being a timeless looker with its distinct visuals, which benefits from appropriate resolution and performance buffs that bring it up to speed. A commendable remaster at a decent price point, Darksiders Warmastered gives those who missed out another chance to try an underappreciated gem of the PS3 era. Just prepare for some mechanical rust.
