Tales From The Borderlands: Episode Two - Atlas Mugged Reviews
Tales from the Borderlands is killing it in just about every capacity. The writers, the aesthetic, the voice actors, the gameplay, everything is living up to what I would want out of a non-FPS Borderlands game. But the humor does rely heavily on knowing the Borderlands universe. So if you haven't played any of the games, you might want to play through them before you pick up Tales. (Just a heads up, you can skip the first one if you want to get straight to the good stuff.)
With Atlas Mugged, Telltale Games has continued its colourful and incredibly memorable Tales from the Borderlands series with another impressive interactive outing.
All in all, Tales from the Borderlands is a story-based point-and-click adventure that continues to deliver thanks to interesting characters and a solid story that features excellent balance between seriousness and levity. If you like the storytelling style of the Borderlands series of games, Atlas Mugged continues to be a hoot.
It's a terrifically smart and fun adventure, and the stakes feel very real, even when we're not exactly sure just what the maguffin is or does. Things are just getting interesting for our characters though, and we can't wait to find out what happens next.
Silly, but sometimes intense, "Tales from the Borderlands: Episode 2: Atlas Mugged" is another solid addition to the series, even if it doesn't challenge you much.
A must-play for Borderlands fans or Telltale fans. If you're a fan of both you have no excuse. Go play it now.
Although not a negative experience, the drop in quality from Episode 1 can't be ignored.
The short version is this: Tales from the Borderlands' second episode is just as good as the first, and considering I'm not eager to pile on the praise for an episodic series that still has a long way to go, that's really saying something.
For people that love the world of Borderlands, and people that appreciate snappy writing and surreal comedy, episode 2 is a definite winner
Atlas Mugged looses some of the spark and flair that made the gameplay from Tales From The Borderlands first episode so exciting, but manages to keep the laughs coming
Tales from the Borderlands got off to a good start last year, and now that Atlas Mugged is finally here, the series has only gotten better. I hope the wait for Episode 3 won't be quite so long, but however far away it is, I expect it will live up to the anticipation. Atlas Mugged certainly did.
This is a minor episode, as second episodes in episodic game series often tend to be, but there's nothing here that hints that the rest of the season won't be strong.
But all of these are really just minor annoyances. They may have ruined the experience in any other game, but to be honest the story is just so good I would sit through a million bugs to see it through to the end. 2K and Telltale are a narrative dream team that crafts a story unlike anything else you have seen on the market. Even if you haven't picked up Episode 1, even if you've never played Borderlands before, pick up Tales from the Borderlands. You won't regret it.
While this episode may feel a little like filler in the grand scheme of things to come, the robot-laced ending is still likely to have you chomping at the bit for more.
Tales from the Borderlands – Episode Two: Atlas Mugged continues where the first episode left off, with a return of the fantastic humour and intriguing story line. There is a focus on conversation between characters over action, meaning that there is little plot progression, but the use of humour combined with an investment in the characters makes playing the game worthwhile.
If you're a fan of the Borderlands series, you simply must experience this game series!
This second episode feels a little slower (curse of episode two!) but even taken as a standalone it's superb. The storytelling and development are top notch, and if the low point is this good, it shows some much promise for the future.
Tales from the Borderlands Episode 2: Atlas Mugged is the best in the series so far and a high point in recent Telltale experiences. It shines both through its story, its action sequences, its clever dialog, and the pretty impressive scenes scattered through its plot.
Tales From the Borderlands: Episode Two - Atlas Mugged is an excellent second chapter in what promises to be an absolute belter. Fun, upbeat and pacey, it pushes the story forward in satisfying directions while slowing down just enough to deliver some brash humour and character development.
Overall Tales from the Borderlands Episode 2: Atlas Mugged is a very good followup to the first episode. If you haven't gotten the season pass yet, certainly consider getting the second episode.
