Super Mario Odyssey feels like a new glove that fits like an old glove, the new high point of a decades-long evolutionary process that is so smooth, so finely-tuned, that playing it nearly feels like an extension of yourself. It creeps up on you, the scale and design of it all, in a way that often doesn't dawn on you just how purely grand it is until you stop playing and reflect on your experience. In a year full to bursting of huge, great games, Super Mario Odyssey stands out by acknowledging what's cool and works about games today. It trims all the fat and doubles-down on not a gameplay loop, but a gameplay flow that feels effortless the whole way through. Even when you lose, when a challenging bit sends you sailing into the Nintendo-y abyss, you just keep going. Super Mario Odyssey is here to remind us how uniquely compelling jumping and flipping around a colorful video game space is and lets us indulge as long as we can stand it.

Welcome home Mario! It's been awhile since a Mario game captured my heart and I think that Super Mario Odyssey is that game. Sure, there are elements of repetition but the gaming mechanics and controls are a thorough treat and if you're looking for a reason to purchase a Nintendo Switch, besides such as Zelda, this could really be the time to make the… uhh… SWITCH!
Mario has over thirty years of history behind him and yet Odyssey manages to mix those feelings of old titles with new ideas for a fresh take on a genre everyone is familiar with.

How Nintendo somehow keeps their lil' platforming plumbing mascot relevant and exciting decades later is a mystery, but there's no denying the company has delivered another Mario masterpiece for The Switch.
It rewards players in ways that we rarely get to see, and even when it's over it begins anew and invites you to keep exploring, keep discovering, and keep reaching for the moon.

The myriad of secrets, mini-games and references to previous series’ titles, coupled with some of the most fluid and ingenious action seen to date makes Super Mario Odyssey one of the best platform games in years. Those little Nintendo nuances and humorous quirks can be found almost everywhere; that’s what makes it so special.
Odyssey is probably the best 3D platformer ever created. It's almost impossible to rate it on points, as it's about the moments that stay in your memory. Also about the surprises you'll experience while playing.

Super Mario Odyssey is a phenomenal return for Nintendo's mustachioed mascot, and (whisper it) the worthy successor to Super Mario 64 that fans have been longing for.
Nintendo has done it again. Another masterpiece by Nintendo. Super Mario Odyssey can keep you entertained without having to spill a tank of blood or crushing the bones of a creature. It’s fun and it’s simple with a great gameplay and awesome level designs. This is one of those games that everyone can have some fun playing it. In Super Mario Odyssey your age and skills don’t matter. You can always have fun when you play with Mario. They have once again proved that they know the secret Krabby Patty formula for making gorgeous games. The switch is going through a different path right now and we hope it doesn’t end up where Wii U did.

I could keep talking about how awesome Super Mario Odyssey is, but I don't want to spoil your experience with the game. Rest assured that it's Game of the Year for a reason, and a must have release for all Nintendo Switch owners out there.
Simplification of gameplay and redoubled focus on adventuring are elements that could be found annoying by some people, but also what makes Mario Odyssey different than its predecessors. Super Mario Odyssey is a festival of color and cheerfulness and easily, one of the best platforming games of all time.

Super Mario Odyssey is another gem in the Switch library. Varied, funny, cute and unbelievably addictive. This game could be an ideal platformer, but uninspiring boss battles and heavy emphasis on collecting items after the main story prevent SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY from the perfect score.
