It’s a game full of surprises; one that plays with your expectations and supersedes them in almost every way. If you have a Switch (or are yet to get one), it’s simply essential.

Super Mario Odyssey is the best game available on Nintendo Switch, and just might be my favorite game of the year. It isn't just a masterclass of level and sound design, it's a celebration of the Super Mario franchise, and one of helluva celebration to take part in.
The key to games is what they do in response to our actions. We put ourselves into these things through button presses and the decisions that we make, and how we feel about them is dictated by what we receive in return. Ideally, that receipt will be something we can classify as fun, no matter how vague that term is. Like so many Nintendo games, fun is definitely the primary product of Super Mario Odyssey, and the sole reason it exists. Cool: The Mario game is good.
Super Mario Odyssey had a lot of potential, and it lived up to it in just about every way imaginable. Go get this game, it's one of the best ones out there.

With Super Mario Odyssey Nintendo proves the 3D sandbox platformer is not only alive and well, but that it can continue to be evolved and surprise us, consume us and astonish us in clever and elegant ways.
I don't know how Nintendo continues to do it, but they've managed to reinvent another classic franchise and push it further than imaginable. Super Mario Odyssey is the game that we've been waiting to play for more than 20 years. It feels like it borrows key elements from almost every Mario game that has come before it to create what is possibly not only the greatest Mario game, but one of the best 3D platformers of all time.
Super Mario is back! Jump into a fun adventure that combines best parts of previous Mario games and adds a few excellent mechanics that further elevate what was already a juggernaut of platforming experience. Odyssey puts Super into Super Mario.
If you’re tired of empty-feeling open worlds and soulless grinds, do yourself a favor and pick up one of the most inventive and enjoyable video games in recent memory.
