Star Wars Battlefront II is a gorgeous, incredibly fun shooter that builds on its roots with a host of new content, welcome gameplay tweaks and a fun single-player campaign. But all of its improvements are overshadowed by the Star Destroyer of crooked business decisions and terrible progression, making it a hard sell right now.

Star Wars Battlefront II's campaign is merely okay, and its multiplayer is hamstrung by an awful upgrade system. There's also the spectre of loot boxes hanging over it like a Lightsaber of Damocles. However, it looks and sounds amazing, and gameplay-wise delivers the goods.
Star Wars Battlefront was akin to Jar Jar Binks, a game with its share of fans and haters that turned out to be flawed but was an annoyance at most. Battlefront 2, on the other hand, is like Anakin Skywalker, a game with so much potential that it fails to realize thanks to what many see as a sinister turn. It’s a shame as the game actually does several things quite well and can be a blast to play. While it deserves credit for rectifying some of those issues prior to launch, however, the aftertaste of its questionable decisions continue to be a lingering issue in what otherwise could have been a stellar game.
The force is weak with this one.
Star Wars Battlefront II has entertaining multiplayer modes and great visuals, but it is held back by a complicated upgrade system and the impending return of microtransactions.
Battlefront II is everything the first should have been: it’s an immersive, fantastical experience with a heck of a lot of content to venture through. However, the game’s Star Card system is still problematic, and the inconsistencies seen in multiplayer, alongside the lack of in-game voice chat, pull it back from fully reaching its huge potential. Whilst the single player campaign is a let down in many aspects, it doesn't bring down the much improved multiplayer portion of the game.
Unlike a lack of response (or urgency) after the launch of Star Wars: Battlefront, I truly hope that lessons are learned quickly and implemented before Battlefront 2's player base walks away in protest. Again.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a prime example for how not to make a sequel using a simple formula. DICE tried to fix what was wrong in the predecessor, messing up the good parts in the process. And this awfuly broken economy of the game...

A sequel that delivers a glut of content, but locks too much of it away, Star Wars Battlefront II is nonetheless a clear labour of love and a robust multiplayer shooter, sadly buried in an over-complicated progression system. To try or to try not, then? If you're prepared to put in the time and effort, then Star Wars Battlefront II can be enormously fun and rewarding, even if it might not necessarily be the game you were looking for.
New Battlefront has an extremely mediocre single player campaign, which is as far from a viable reason to buy this game as it can be. The multiplayer mode provides lots of fun but at the same time it suffers from lootboxes which disrupt the balance on the battlefield. Star Wars: Battlefront II is a good game dragged down by bad business practices of the publisher.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 feels lackluster and dull in so many categories.
Overall, Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017) is still a fun game thanks to more content than it had two years ago and an exciting single player campaign that is actually canon to the Star Wars universe.
So, does Star Wars Battlefront II fulfill the Star Wars fantasy? I believe it does, but it's a very Empire Strikes Back fantasy; it's not all lightsabers and Force-using. Sometimes it takes a blaster or two to get the job done or some fancy flying. It may require some frustrating moments of Dagoba-style training. At the end of the day, no matter who gets frozen in carbonite or loses a hand, you've got your squad to think about. Only together can you overcome the odds stacked against you.
Star Wars Battlefront II is a game rich of contents and extremely close to the Star Wars Universe. Graphics are impressive and the gameplay is simple and solid. Iden is not the character we expected, but the campaign has the power to brings all the Star Wars Experience directly to the player, taking him to the different planets and giving him eventually a limited perspective of what happened from Episode VI to Episode VII.

There's a good game buried somewhere beneath too many cons. I just hope that Motive, Criterion, and DICE can right the starship before too many players launch their escape pods.
Star Wars: Battlefront II feels like a big step forward, but instead of following that with a number of steps back, it's actually a trip-up leading to a sprained ankle. This is a beautiful, fun game with huge ambitions for being an important part of the Star Wars universe as it is today.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a game on par with its predecessor in terms of quality, but that is hard to see when it is covered in garbage business decisions.
Star Wars Battlefront II is the epitome of taking a step forward, shooting yourself in the foot and then falling backwards in pain.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is fantastic follow up to the 2015 title but is ultimately held back from reaching true greatness thanks to its demonic microtransactions.
