This feels like a true sequel to 2013's LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, and that is both a positive and a negative. Just like its predecessor, it is stuffed to bursting with fan-service and it delivers the signature fun LEGO gameplay elements that have always been core to these titles. However, it feels like a game out of time, something that should have come out in 2014. It fails to integrate the many innovations and changes to gameplay that subsequent Tt LEGO releases have created. If this had included the same type of open world as LEGO Marvel Avengers and the combat of the recent LEGO Ninjago the Movie, it could have been the best LEGO iteration to date. Instead, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2's just on par with what has come before. Not that that is a particularly bad thing, it is just that it could be so much more.

Whether you're a kid or an adult, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 is a fun romp through time and space in typical brick-smashing LEGO fashion.

It's perfectly clear that over time, the LEGO series has took a downward trend and with each new installments, the gameplay gets more repetitive than ever. LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 is yet another mediocre game that proves this series needs a new game changer like Lego Batman 2.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 is a very stereotyped Lego game. Most of the gameplay part can be found in other Lego series, and the difficulty of this game obviously cannot satisfy hardcore gamers. However, this game is good enough for the target audience. Maybe we do not need to focus on the overall quality, fun and happiness is the key to its own value.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 offers the kind of warm-hearted knock-about action the series has become famous for, all wrapped up in a truly impressive open world package. It's a shame that the underlying mechanics remain so defiantly clunky, while the controls seem a little haphazard in places. Multiplayer is curiously inessential, too.Ultimately, though, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2's generosity of spirit and lightness of tone mean that it's likely to win over a whole new generation of fans.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 offers a fun experience for Marvel fans young and old. It's only problem comes from the fact that the LEGO video games formula is starting to show its age. Warner and TT Games should really start thinking about changing things up a bit.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 is a pure dose of fan service to Marvel enthusiasts, with its long list of characters, recognizable locations and its nods to storylines and in-jokes, but I feel that these games have lost their way over time. It isn't to say that I didn't enjoy my time with it, but I certainly won't be going back to it time and again, trying to achieve that 100% completion stat.

The latest marriage of LEGO and Marvel is a mixed but promising step-up. Its star-studded story, inventive hub-world and new presentation style all add much-needed freshness to a stale format. However, technical issues, clumsy controls and overwhelming déjà vu remain. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 still has the power to entertain, but while the game's chronological theme has allowed the brand to stride confidently into the future, its core mechanics remain rooted firmly in the past.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 feels like the solid end of TT Games' exploration of the Marvel Universe. There's more characters here and this mashup of worlds provides a good deal of variety. There are problems: the X-Men and Fantastic Four don't return from the first game, the voice cast drains characters of some of their charm, and with this many characters, things can get a little confusing. The Lego game formula might need a rebuild in the future, but Lego Marvel 2 is good victory lap for the series.

It may be formulaic, but Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 still retains the series' trademark charm and fun.

One of the best Lego games of the entire series, with a dizzying array of bizarre characters and some genuinely compelling gameplay for younger players.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 has good graphics and a lot of Marvel characters to unlock, but it's also a too slowly paced game with some issues in its level design.

LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 was a good addition to the franchise. The customisation and amount of things to do are spectacular and I can see this easily taking over 25 hours to see and do everything it has to offer. However, the switch to health bars with the influx of boss and long-winded battles pulled it down a bit for me. At some points, the game felt like a drag which was really disappointing as it had the basis of being something really good.

While definitely a bit of a letdown after how good the first game was, there is still plenty to enjoy in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2. The best part is unlocking the more obscure characters that really dive into the long history of Marvel, giving you plenty to do alongside the enjoyable main story as long as glitches don’t get in the way.

If the first chapter of the series showed serious plot-level uncertainties, the same can not be said for this new title. Controllable heroes are all done very well. Each hero has his or her own skill that will be crucial to the continuation of the story or to the resolution of the challenges within the various levels of play.

LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 is a game that will consume your hours, definitely. The world is huge, the roster is huge, and there’s so much to explore that can’t be done in just under 24 hours. This is for new and longtime fans who have been engrossed with the entire Marvel world, plus those with love for action-adventure games with a dash of LEGO humor.

Qualms aside, Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 is still an entertaining romp through the Marvel universe that combines comic book storytelling with the wit and humor that the Lego series is known for. It may not revolutionize the series' worn out gameplay, but the fan service and multiplayer more than make up for that. If you're a fan of Marvel or Lego, this one comes highly recommended.
