F1 2017 isn't light years ahead of the already very good F1 2016 but the new cars, retro content, and the juiced-up career mode make a very strong case for the upgrade, and I really appreciated the enhanced force feedback on a wheel. Rich with details and faithful to just about everything that makes contemporary F1 tick, F1 2017 is about as good a simulation of a single, modern motorsport as you can get.

As close as you can get to an F1 driver's life without being cussed by Sebastian Vettel.

F1 2017 is another superbly authentic recreation of modern F1. However, the sport's current complexity will be overwhelming for most, and the returning classic content is nowhere near as good as it should be.

F1 2017 is a game that's as much fun to think about as it is to play, and as intriguing to plan out and strategize as it is to race. And it is a lot of fun to race, because so much of F1 2017's enjoyment comes from things built up over time, not the year-to-year bullet-point features of video gaming.

F1 2017 is more than just a steady continuation of Codemasters' racing series, it's a major step forward that isn't content to simply rely on this year's new cars and regulations. From adding more R&D options to the career to having classic cars and invitational events help break up the long racing calendar, there's a lot to keep you engaged here. Not only that, but you can see that Codemasters have plenty of ways to continue to grow the series over the next few years.

It may not get all the hoopla that more popular titles in the genre receive, but F1 2017 is one of the most complete sports video games released in awhile.

For the gamer who's not quite as passionate about Formula 1 or racing in general, it might be worth trying out before coughing up your hard-earned cash. But even then, I think you'll find it engaging.

A good racing games that doesn't take any kind of risks but still it's one of the best F1 emulation ever (but not the best racing sim).

A great and fun racing game that perfectly represents the emotions and the strategy of the Formula 1's competitions.

F1 2017 is perhaps the biggest game in the franchise to date, but still feels strangely empty as its new content doesn't really change things enough from the previous games.

F1 2017 doubles down on the success of the previous year's entry, with huge improvements to the Career Mode and fun additions such as classic cars to drive.

With F1 2017, Codemasters has reached that stable plateau you see from established sports franchise like FIFA or NBA. This is by no means a major overhaul – if you've bounced off of these types of racers before, F1 2017 won't try to re-convince you of any merits. But nor should it need to.

Codemasters has finally completed the transformation process of F1 series: F1 2017 is exactly what a fan should expect from a perfect simcade racing game, despite the Ego Engine is almost at the end of its life. Buy it, play it and enjoy it: you will not regret.

Codemasters once again tried to update F1, but every year, with new releases, base game becomes more boring, just like real "Formula 1", where one or two teams are fighting for titles. The game needs a fresh look. We hope to see a completely updated physics and more realism in the next one.

Codemasters succeeds in doing better this year with a game which almost improves on all levels. The redesign of R&D through the integration of a huge tree of competence justifies many hours of play, while the addition of historical cars will fulfill the expectations of many fans. However, with all this great work on one side, it is disapointing to see such old graphics on the other side. Nevertheless, F1 2017 is an excellent game close to perfection, which will keep you in front of your TV until the next edition.
