It would've been nice to have trickier combat or more real RPG bits and bobs, but as an interactive South Park title, this hits pretty much every mark. The Stick of Truth is puerile, authentic, and constantly hilarious.

South Park: The Stick of Truth could stand alone as an extended episode of the show. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing depends on how funny you think Trey Parker and Matt Stone are. For fans of the show, this is a seriously impressive game.

South Park: The Stick of Truth is a faithful rendition of the world-famous series in an RPG format. Featuring a delirious plot with plenty of examples of the typical South Park humour and a well designed combat system, The Stick of Truth could rank even higher if its lifespan would be a bit longer.

Benefitting from the performance tweaks made by the transition from old-gen to current-gen hardware - and the same smooth mapping of its controls to the Joy-Con - South Park: The Stick of Truth proves itself just as good a fit on Nintendo Switch as South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Both a pastiche of classic RPG tropes and a wonderfully empowering example of how to make a great modern example of the genre, this is still one of Obsidian's best exports and as authentic as any episode of the cult TV show it's so closely tied to.

South Park : The Stick of Truth is by far the best South Park game ever made and one of the funniest video games ever. Gamers who enjoy a good laugh owe it to themselves to play this game. And the fact the Switch allows players to take the game everywhere with them make things even better.

The lesson to be learned from it is for anyone making this kind of game to find the beauty in simplicity. Also, to never, ever fart on another man's balls.

South Park: The Stick of Truth perfectly encompasses what the show is all about. My only wish is that more of my favorite characters could've been given the spotlight, but I guess when you've got 17 seasons worth of content, that's easier said than done.

In a Venn diagram of South Parkfans and adventure RPG fans this game exists in the overlap. If you find yourself there too then this game is an absolute no-brainer. It's inventive, disgusting, in bad taste and absolutely hilarious. If you fall outside that area, however, this isn't going to convert you into either fandom. It's the reliance upon the source material that makes it almost perfect to its target audience, but prevents it from getting a perfect score as a game.

For those of you picking up the console versions in a territory where the censorship stick has been whipped out, have no fear that you're missing out on too much. The five scenes of anal probing, as well as the abortion minigames, are still hilarious in their delivery. Slight spoilers below, but you can check out for yourself the differences between the two versions.

Mechanically, there are some rough edges, like interacting with the environment or the inefficiency of selling a lot of items at once, and the combat could do with a little tweaking. However, when I mentioned earlier that it plays like an extended episode of the show, that should be a massive point in its favour. Possibly the best tie-in game, and yes that includes The Chronicles of Riddick.

There was a time, there was a time, I had never imagined the possibility of battling a phallic mouse on a computer, but I—we—can never have those days back again. We have to forge on into the filth.

While I am admittedly new to the characters and ongoing story of 'South Park', I've seen enough episodes of the television series to prepare myself for the outrageous antics that 'The Stick of Truth' was capable in delivering. For a series that prides itself on gross-out humor, strong language, and inappropriate comedy on a variety of levels, the game delivered a solid RPG experience that was quite enjoyable from start to finish. Although the very mature content forced me to be on the constant lookout for inquisitive eyes (my 8 and 9-year old daughters) while playing the game, the solid game mechanics, hysterical performances, and environmental . . . um . . . variety (if you've played it you'll understand), kept me engaged and interested throughout. Newcomers and loyal fans alike will find plenty of reasons to search for 'The Stick of Truth'.

This is a South Park game done right. You have the crude adult humor mixed well with the overall fun gameplay. The game suffers from a variety of smaller issues, but excels at providing an amazing experience for fans of the show.

The decisions on whether to buy this game is based on one thing. Do you like the TV show? If you love South Park then you Will love this game. The game has everything that people love about the TV show and doesn’t deviate from the shows successful formula at all. If you hate the TV show then you will hate this game, it’s as simple as that! It takes about 15 hours to complete the main quest and there are plenty of side quests that give you additional play time. This might be short when compared to other RPGs, but I don’t think they could have done a better job. The writers threw everything they had at this game and the resulting product is one of the funniest games I have ever played and one of the funniest south park stories too. The Stick of Truth is a must have for all south park fans!

It's been a long time since the South Park 64 abominations that were released on the N64 many moons ago, unfortunately not enough time to forget. But after its many delays, will The Stick of Truth finally be the South Park fans deserve?
