Tesla vs Lovecraft is enjoyable enough for what it is: a simple, energetic twin-stick shooter fat doesn't push any boundaries but gets most of the fundamentals right. At the same time, there's so much untapped potential in the idea of Lovecraft/Tesla crossover, and that leaves me wanting so much more from this game than it actually delivers.

Tesla vs. Lovecraft is imbued with a frenetic, bold energy that I only wish its designers had committed to more strongly. While there is fun in the premise of knocking back waves of Lovecraftian horrors while teleporting around them and maximizing Tesla's devices, none of these concepts ever truly hits the mark. The result is a distracting but ultimately mindless exercise in repetition, which fails to ever become truly interesting.

A mediocre, but still somewhat pleasant twin-stick shooter with hordes of Eldritch Horrors to kill.

Ultimately, Tesla vs. Lovecraft isn't particularly innovative but is, nonetheless, extremely enjoyable and easy to pick up and play. Milestone challenges and higher difficulty levels will encourage players to come back for more. However, a woefully underdeveloped story contributes to an overall lack of personality depth, which leaves this game feeling less memorable than its solid gameplay perhaps deserves.

Tesla Vs Lovecraft serves its function well enough as a simple action shooter. There isn't much to the gameplay, but sometimes you can find a good time paddling through even shallow waters.

Mindless fun is the biggest selling point, and though I had hoped for some more weapons to play with and better level variety, Tesla vs Lovecraft is still a riotous twin stick shooter.

When it comes to twin-stick shooting, Tesla vs Lovecraft definitely has a solid foundation that's a ton of fun.

There's enough thumb-centric entertainment crammed into Tesla vs Lovecraft to keep even the most devoted twin-stick aficionado occupied until the Shoggoths come home.

Tesla vs Lovecraft is a fun twin-stick shooter, made even better by being technically on-point and very clean to play.

Tesla vs Lovecraft is a wonderful action-packed shooter that combines H.P. Lovecraft's monsters with the magical electric inventions of Nikola Tesla.

While it doesn't quite stick the landing, Tesla vs Lovecraft is still well worth checking out. This twin-stick shooter captures the heart of what makes the genre work, and is designed to appeal to every level of skill. It's just such a natural and fun game that anyone will be happy to give up their weekend for it. The only other complaint worth noting is the blaring foghorn. Inception is a fine movie, but the horn it popularised has been a nuisance to this critic's eardrums for quite a long time. Hearing "BWWAAAHH" every couple minutes is akin to being trapped in the depths of Cthulhu's madness.

A fine example of twin-stick shooter fun, Tesla vs. Lovecraft proves rather moreish, and even more enjoyable with friends. You could say, it's electrifying.

Tesla vs Lovecraft brings some unorthodox elements to the Nintendo Switch and they work: the game's action-packed screens pass the fluidity test and the gameplay is simple and fun, also thanks to its precise control system. The game also features a four-player cooperative mode and an impressively detailed visual environment, which altogether contribute this to make a significant entry in the growing list of Nintendo Switch games.

If you're looking for some action in your indie collection, you'll enjoy Tesla vs Lovecraft as a little boy. This double-stick arcade is well worth it despite its obvious weaknesses.

Considering the source material, there probably was a lot more potential in terms of story or characterisation but when all is said and done, shooters don't tend to dwell too much on nuance. Tesla vs Lovecraft is a competent top-down, twin-stick shooter and arguably the most polished title in the developer's catalogue. Taking the fun but limited template of Crimsonland and building an entertaining and visually striking, but familiar and repetitive experience. It's unlikely to get pulses racing in terms of original gameplay, however, the perks system, crazy weapons and relentless explosive action should spark enthusiasm among fans of the genre.

Twin-stick shooters can either lose their charm quickly or provide some addictive gameplay, so it's fortunate that Tesla vs Lovecraft fits into the latter thanks to its fast-paced and gratifying design.

Tesla vs Lovecraft is not even close to being a masterpiece, but it can offer a few hours of funny and relaxing moments to players who love the twin stick shooter genre.

Tesla vs Lovecraft doesn't reinvent the twin-stick shooter genre, but it's a hell of a lot of fun and has its own weird and distinct style. I only wish there were a bit more substance to the cutscenes and a few more story missions packed in for good measure. But if you like fighting off large waves of monsters, you'll get a lot of fun out of its endless mode.
