They're all worth experiencing if you've never done so before, and with the terrific presentation, true-to-form gameplay, and extensive bonus content, Legacy Collection is certainly the best way to go about it.
Capcom may have inflated the value of this collection by making some of these games so hard to come by up until now, but it still earns high marks because of the high-quality emulation for four classic platformers and plethora of extras. As a fan, I'm very happy to have the Mega Man X Legacy Collection in my library, and I enthusiastically recommend it to newcomers looking to get in on the fun. You really can't go wrong if you're a fan of the man. Mega Man.

This first Mega Man X compilation might seem a little short on contents, but the pleasure to play through Mega Max X1 to 4 might be enough for most gamers of the 90's. Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 brings together some more of Capcom's classic titles, this time with a focus on the Mega Man X series. Like the previous legacy collections, this is a mix of some absolute masterpieces, some okay games, and some severe missteps. It's missing some features like save states or a rewind function, and a few songs from the original releases are gone completely. The new X Challenge mode also doesn't stand up to Mega Man Legacy Collection's Custom Challenge stages. Still, this a damn good collection for a series that hasn't seen a new entry in 14 years.

The first Mega Man X Collection is a nice set of titles that comes with some pretty nice extras. All four games are too similar to one another to stand out, but the platforming is strong enough that it can provide a fun challenge for platformer enthusiasts.
If this review hasn't convinced you to dash back in and get reacquainted with Mega Man X, allow us to state it plainly: Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and 2 are must- plays for fans. With its new features, galleries, and tweaks, even total newcomers who have never experienced this groundbreaking series will feel welcome. A lot of love and care has been poured into this collection, allowing players of all skill levels to jump right in and enjoy. So get out there, dash and blast, and track down those mavericks, hunter.

If you're going to buy this, it should be for the eight X games and not for the extra content even though the extra content is good enough to play through once.

Throw in the new X Challenge mode and an enormous archive of museum content and this stands as the definitive way to play the Mega Man X games in the modern era. Four fantastic games, a bevy of extra content, and the ability to play at home or on the go make this one an easy recommendation.
