If GRIS goes on sale I would say pick it up if the art style seems appealing, but otherwise don’t look to GRIS to be the new LIMBO or INSIDE because the puzzles aren’t as deep and the gameplay isn’t as prevalent.
While visually stunning at times, the simple gameplay of 'GRIS' often lacks color, resulting in an experience that is aesthetically stimulating but surprisingly passive. There is breezy fun to be found in the cute platforming puzzles, but players who value gameplay over graphics may be disappointed in the simplicity and brevity of the journey.
GRIS is one of the best indie games of 2018. A wonderful symbiosis of platformer and adventure with interesting puzzles and acrobatic sections goes hand in hand with gorgeous graphics, amazing music and touching ending. It all comes together in an incredibly emotional cocktail with one of the most powerful endings in the modern industry.

Other games may have it beat in terms of pure gameplay, but GRIS is in a league of its own as a gaming experience.
As loathe as we are to re-open the old "are video games art?" debate, it's no exaggeration to say that Gris (along with the likes of Journey, Ico, and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture) is one of the examples you should roll out to prove that they most definitely are.
So, as the closing moments began to tick away I felt that sadness akin to the fading of a memory; the running of a chalk drawing on a London street. It’s not just the comparison of water moving colours, but with the sense of something special happening. Something magical. GRIS captures imagination, the beauty of movement and the lustre of a sumptuous piece of art, all the while letting the player interact with it, making us feel both insignificant and yet ever more important.
Just when it begins to become nearly too overwhelming, though, it’s all over. GRIS is undoubtedly a compact experience, but one that needs to be experienced, either on Switch or PC (though it’s worth mentioning whilst it looks terrific in handheld mode, GRIS really should be experienced docked on a big screen). Whether it be the spectacular soundtrack or well, the spectacular visuals, GRIS tells a story that is tragic and uplifting, emotionally fuelled and near-perfect in its execution.
It's not important if you love indie and platformer games or not , it doesn't even matter if you're not a gamer, you should definitely play Gris! Great narrative, pleasing to ear soundtrack, exquisite artistic visuals and the concept the game is build upon, all help to make Gris one of the most beautiful titles of 2018.

Gris is a beautiful experience that will be well-regarded for it's visuals, themes, and game design for years to come.
Like a beautiful and minimal watercolour painting or an evocative piece of album art come to life - GRIS is short, sweet, and often inspiring.
Gris is one of those games in which the importance is in the message, in the art and in the game experience. It is a game without dialogue, where animation and music speak, where the player experiences a unique world and sensations. It's one of the best games that have been produced in Spanish territory.

Gris is art in motion and arguably the most gorgeous game I've played this year.
A stunning visual achievement and a mediocre Metroidvania but despite that unevenness this is still an affecting interactive journey with real emotional resonance.
GRIS is full of joy and elegance, and is the place where video games meet art. And all this elegance is mixed with a simple yet solid gameplay, and offers an experience that cannot be found anywhere other than video games industry.

Devolver Digital's GRIS is one of the best-looking and most emotional games of the current generation.
You won’t want the experience to end, but when it does, it will stick in your head due its poignant atmosphere and incredible visuals. It’s just a shame that it only lasted around three hours. The game’s beauty and quality make it easy to not want it to end.
GRIS's aesthetic - the work of artist Conrad Roset - makes it one of the most visually compelling games not only of the year, but in recent memory. But the graphics are simply the start, as Nomada Studio have crafted a genuinely unique experience that will stay with you long after you see the credits. The gameplay might be a little too simple for some and the narrative is a tad esoteric in rare spots, but if titles like Journey, Limbo and Inside struck a chord with you, GRIS deserves to be next on your list.
GRIS is a wonderful and essential game about loss and pain that tells a criptic story about a girl in search of herself. It is another success for Devolver Digital.
