Ultimately, Yoshi's Woolly World is a game that achieves something rather impressive - it manages to feel immediately familiar and completely uncharted, and both at the same time. For the most part, it sticks close to the series roots, but it does so with a new, adorable veneer and a welcome level of accessibility. If you like platformers and/or things that are cute, you'll definitely want to check this out.

Yoshi's Woolly World is game that doesn't pretend to be anything that it isn't. It capitalizes on cute and charming and creates a worthwhile game with plenty to look forward to. Its fatal flaw is only that its appeal runs short for gamers who look for the complexity and skill challenge Nintendo's other platformers offer.

An adorable journey, and yet tougher than it looks. There is great fun to be had here when flying solo or with a friend. Good-Feel has created another epic yarn-filled experience.

Woolly World bring back a lot of what fans loved from Yoshi's Story into the modern area. While the game isn't overwhelming, it is pretty good. With its unique boss fights, fun gameplay, and a wonderful aesthetic Woolly World is worth a pickup.

So Yoshi's Woolly World doesn't quite match the highs of Super Mario World, despite both games' numerous similarities, and it may not be the vital platformer that Wii U owners were hoping for as the console continues its unfortunate drought. However, it's still a very enjoyable yarn (geddit?) that offers a surprising level of replayability that delights with its overwhelming level of cuteness, even if it doesn't particularly innovate.

Yoshi's Woolly World is a joyful platformer, which takes a different approach to other games in the Mario family by emphasising collection and exploration, while retaining a solid level of challenge. Despite a few technical problems and design missteps, the variety, and thoughtfulness, of the myriad mechanics make it a pleasure, as you advance through each world exploring every nook and cranny. Once again, the Wii U makes an excellent argument for its existence, especially when it's giving players time in the company of one of Nintendo's most beloved characters.

Yoshi has a whole new look in Yoshi's Wooly World, but is this new visual style as comfortable as a winter coat? Or is it as ugly and itchy as an old Christmas sweater?

If you're in the mood for some N64 era platforming held to modern standards, or have a bad-at-platformers partner to tag along, Woolly World is just what the doctor ordered.

Yoshi's Woolly World is Nintendo doing what Nintendo does best; create a colorful world full of precision that spans generations. I loved it, my son adores it, and gamers everywhere will not be able to play it without smiling. Nothing about it changes the genre for better or worse, but that doesn't change the fact that Nintendo still makes some of the best games out there. If you own a Wii U, it is definitely worth checking out, if for nothing more than the smile it will put on your face, the entire time you play it.

Yoshi's Woolly World doesn't do much that we haven't seen before in Nintendo's long history of these sorts of games, and its exceptional cuteness factor helps overcome some of its slightly derivative design. But in a season so focused on doing vicious harm in virtual worlds, its lovely to take a whimsical stroll with this delightful dinosaur daredevil.

Yoshi's Woolly World makes a fine addition to any Wii U owner's library. It's full of charm and personality, and it doesn't forget to test you with its high difficulty. You'll spend more than a dozen hours doing everything and collecting every hidden item, and you'll have a blast practically the entire time.

Yoshi's Woolly World is a polished platformer that's geared toward players of all ages, making it a good option for solo play or clean family fun. Admittedly, the easier difficulty might be a turnoff for more hardcore platforming fans. Still, its unique art style and whimsical gameplay make it a fun ride for folks who like a charming platformer.

You're probably thinking this isn't cut out for anybody past a certain age, that it's just for kids. If you feel that way about games, well, bless your heart. This is a medium where the most acclaimed and best selling games feel like the idle doodles of a middle-school boy. I'll take my light-hearted joy where and when I can when dealing with videogames, and few games are as joyous or adorable as this one.
