The Outer Worlds does a good job at taking the older Fallout formula and bringing it to a new generation of consoles. Unfortunately, it doesn't do much beyond that, leaving the game feeling uninspired and familiar.

It’s not the kind of game to stand the test of time and Obsidian has made much better and more interesting games in the past, but there is a pleasant experience to be had.

The Outer Worlds is one of the most ambitious indie projects ever, but somehow it feels very humane. Be it for its lovely characters, its surprisingly consistent universe or its tiny time-saving options, it's possible to see, at all times, the humanity behind this game. Because of that, it's an experience I recommend with all my heart.

The Outer Worlds is an excellent RPG, that despite the limited budget and some minor gameplay flaws, manages to shine with its stellar writing and great characters. I simply cannot wait for the inevitable sequel!

The Outer Worlds has birthed what could be a remarkable initiation into an incredible franchise for years to come, and could very well be Obsidian’s Renaissance piece, finally separating itself from a tired franchise that has seen better days in the Fallout series. The Outer Worlds is truly one of the best video games of 2019, and could very well be it’s Game of the Year.

The Outer Worlds (TOW) is an RPG shooting game where the story REALLY matters. Half of the game you are shooting and the other half talking to NPCs to make moral decisions. Actually, forget that... There is no RIGHT or WRONG way to play TOW. You can do anything, kill anyone. You can do zero talking and shoot everyone at sight or be diplomatic and try to complete the game with zero kills. It's all up to you! To add more variables to the complexity of the “FREE WILL", the game has companions, an entire RPG module (attributes, aptitudes, skills, and perks) and a variety of armors, weapons, mods, and items. All of which, when well combined makes every choice easier.

The Outer Worlds does a good job at filling the gap left by the Fallout series after its recent controversies. The game shines in its roleplay and dialogue. I loved every second I spent on Halycon, but I can't help but feel that there's an untapped potential the developers could've put more time into. Hopefully a possible sequel should raise the quality of many of its aspects, especially the narrative and combat.

Obsidian has returned through the big door with a game that satisfies those who wanted more first-person RPGs. They have created a whole rich and attractive universe that has a huge charisma and exploration everywhere. The role-playing part is very well accomplished and allows us to create a huge variety of builds to suit our favorite game style. Don't hesitate to give it a try because it doesn't disappoint.

It hurts me to say this, but I simply cannot recommend buying The Outer Worlds’ Switch port at present.

The Outer Worlds remains a memorable experience on Switch, but, at the same time, it’s all a bit of a blur.

Is this the best version of The Outer Worlds out there? No. Should this be the version for you to consider purchasing in case you have never played this game before? Absofreakinglutely not. Is is still a fantastic RPG with one of the best plots and characters in recent memory? Without a shadow of a doubt.

The Outer Worlds is a great game, one of the best from last year. The problem is that we are facing a port that does not do justice to the game.

For a game that’s so dependent on its art style to drive home much of its personality, character interactions and the story are left to carry the weight of completing the sense of immersion, and most of the time that load is too great for them to bear on their own. The Outer Worlds on Switch just doesn’t land well without all of the aspects working together in concert. I’m not saying the game is unplayable, it just feels like the experience is severely hamstrung and it’s hard to get a proper sense of enjoyment out of it. There’s still fun to be had, but it comes in fits and starts, and it really doesn’t stand up to any of the other platforms the game is available on. If the Switch is your only gaming system, you’re really hankering for a space adventure, and you don’t mind or notice technical problems, then there may be something here for you. Otherwise, you’d do well to play elsewhere. To paraphrase the game itself, the Switch version of this game isn’t the best choice, it’s… well, you know the rest.

Even on a limited console such as the Switch, the scope of The Outer Worlds isn’t lost.

I suppose if you don’t own anything else that will run this game, then this port is admittedly a way to play a game you’d otherwise have no access to. However, if you own literally anything else that will run The Outer Worlds, and don’t want a return to PS3 graphics with PS2 processing speeds, avoid this port like the Edgewater plague.

The Outer Worlds ticks all the right action RPG boxes. Upgrades, skills, levelling-up, decent combat etc. However, some elements rest on the generic side, which is not a bad thing here. The Outer Worlds ultimately is a fun game to play with its dark humour which is neat to mess around with given the options available. That said, it is familiar territory done-right and wrapped-up in an eye-catching lick-of-colourful paint.

I knew very early on that I would like the game. By the end, I knew that I loved it, and I am already imagining my trip back through The Outer Worlds, and that is something that only truly special games can do.

If you have the option to play The Outer Worlds on any other console, I suggest you do that. If you don’t have anything other than a Switch and still want to check out the Halcyon system for yourself or simply want to play the game again on the go, this port gives you a chance, though don’t expect the best version of the game.

The Outer Worlds is a great game, but it hasn't featured anything new. Obsidian has tried, perhaps too much, to improve and bring what Fallout New Vegas, despite being a great game, did not achieve. Is this bad Not at all, it's just that it gives a little anger that it stays close to being a masterpiece.
