If you're looking for a fun, colourful team shooter with plenty to see and do, Battle for Neighborville could be just the ticket. If you weren't swayed by the prior Garden Warfare titles, you'll likely want to pass on this, but for the sheer silliness of its characters and the world they exist in, it's well worth sinking your teeth (or vines) into. You may never want to leave Neighborville.

Plants vs. Zombies Battle for Neighborville is a beautiful title. We have fun online with different modes of play. Teamplay is important but playing alone s not be the key to success. A time of adaptation is required to master the game and its gameplay. There are a lot of things to do in the game and the title takes on a more significant scale when played with friends. A good surprise in short.

Plants vs. Zombies Battle for Neighborville is a strong foundation and PopCap seems determined to provide updates and events to give fans of the franchise a place to call home.

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville embraces all of the charm and fun of its predecessors, but manages to up the ante with a lot of new and updated features. Sometimes having too many players feels overly chaotic for a character-based hero shooter, and losing the variants makes the roster feel a little thin, but PopCap spent more than a month proving to early players that it was committed to Neighborville for the foreseeable future. For all the good it brings, it's easy to overlook a couple of worms in the garden.

It’s not the best way to enjoy it, but if you don’t mind the blurry visuals and reduced performance then the Switch version of Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is just about as good as any other. The biggest downside is the absence of split-screen co-op, which is understandable but disappointing nonetheless. Still, with the core gameplay intact and all post-launch content included, this is one of the best shooters currently available on Switch without any doubt. And even better, it’s suitable for all ages and skill levels.

Players who have been fans of the prior games in the series will see much to like in the game as the world is fun, visually appealing, and inviting and lots of fun to play.

Battle for Neighborville is one of the quirkiest multiplayer shooters I have played in a long time. While the game is not really up my alley (I do prefer the nitty-gritty of Call of Duty over this), I appreciate its appeal and its unrelenting focus on being as silly as it can be. I also see how it appeals to a larger audience than all of the Call of Duty games. Ultimately, the game is an enjoyable romp that can be played in short bursts. It may not be entirely my thing, but I will admit that I found the whole experience oddly satisfying. It is a game I would return to, time and time again.

I used to love the original Plants vs Zombies game on the Xbox 360, planting my plants and killing those zombies, as you do. The game has evolved so, so much since then and the feud continues today with Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville Complete Edition on the Nintendo Switch.

Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is brimming with content, both offline and multiplayer online. Even if you are only interested in one of the two, you'll find plenty to do. The port to Switch can be considered a success, as only the local co-op split screen seems to be missing. It's quite a feat to pack this much content into one package.

Plants vs. Zombies has always had potential on consoles, but it seems Battle for Neighborville has finally found the winning formula. Battle for Neighborville builds on its predecessors' fun mechanics and adds a massive new world to explore that takes advantage of its strengths, all the while never forgetting the lighthearted approach that made us fall in love with the franchise in the first place. Battle for Neighborville is a rollicking good time, and we can't wait to spend more time in this vibrant and whimsical world.

Despite strong competitive and cooperative multiplayer action, the PvE elements fall short of those marquee modes. The progression leads to more frustration than satisfaction

Considered that "Variants" has been completely taken away, and "Abilities" are simplified, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville definitely failed some expectations, but now it is more rookie-friendly. We can still have tons of fun within, thanks to the new characters and maps.

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is a fun little alternative to all the grimdark and serious team shooters on the market, although the PVE components pale in comparison to the real meat of the game, the online multiplayer.

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is an odd game – much like the franchise as a whole. The game doesn’t take itself very seriously, and if you can forgive the obvious lapses in map balance and the general Overpowered nature of some characters, there is much fun to be had here.

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville doesn't go out of its way to surpass expectations, but it's a silly, strange, joyful game – one I'm glad was greenlit. If PopCap can continue what it started, this stands a fighting chance of becoming my favorite PvZ spin-off. I hope it gets that opportunity.

Overall, I had a really fun time with Battle for Neighborville and still feel like I only scratched the surface on the amount of gameplay and replayability the game offers. If you’re looking for an easy pickup and play title with some fun and chaotic third-person shooter gameplay, then Battle for Neighborville is a great choice for you. However, if you’re looking for a deep story or are turned off by “childish” writing, then it might be best to avoid picking this game up. While I think this game is great for any age, I would definitely recommend picking this up for a child old enough to get into a shooter, but too young for more mature games like Call of Duty or Apex Legends — if they like Splatoon, they’ll like Battle for Neighborville!

It's PvE campaign may be a bit of a wash despite the Looney tunes approach, but if you're looking for some addictive multiplayer action that hasn't changed too much between instalments, Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is still a chaotic start to the day that is packed full of vitamin C for crazy.

Very nice graphics and animations and good gameplay for both sides. But there is not enough players and multiplayer is chaotic.

All in all Plants vs. Zombies - Battle for Neighborville is a worthy timesink if you're looking for a fun, lighthearted multiplayer shooter. It has its issues running on the Switch but there's nothing game-breaking. Though its single-player offerings may quickly wilt, you're still likely to find yourself digging this one up time and time again.

Plants vs Zombies Battle for Neighborville is a great game to play with children and youth, but it may not have enough content to keep adult players around in this competitive gaming market.
