Cyberpunk 2077 is a frustrating mess. Its main narrative and characters are compelling but it's all within a game so buggy that, in terms of games with good stories and botched launches, it gives Fallout: New Vegas a run for its money. While I enjoyed my time in Night City because of its solid writing and characters, I cannot give Cyberpunk 2077 a recommendation.

If the Nintendo Switch 2 is the only way you can play Cyberpunk 2077, it's a solid way to experience the game, although if you have a more powerful console, that might be preferable for a docked gaming experience.

Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox Series X is a well-crafted RPG that showcases CD Projekt Red's dedication. It may not be revolutionary, but it's highly recommended for Xbox Series X owners.

Cyberpunk 2077 is not a bad game, just a half-baked experience, in love with its protagonist. It forgot along the way for those who made things happen: the users, and for that reason, it ended up being what it is: a video game that is not worth it at the moment and that with the passage of time may improve, as has already happened with many others.

Cyberpunk 2077 fails as a role playing game, although living in the cynical Night City is an impressive experience. The choices you make carry minimal weight. The characters are not distinctive. On the other hand, Night City is an incredibly beautiful and complex open world that almost cannot bear comparison. As an action game, Cyberpunk 2077 has its faults, but the combat experience is engrossing and multifaceted. In general, it is a very good game, which is a shame to let it lie idle, although perhaps it is better to wait for patches until spring. Defying Mike Pondsmith, Cyberpunk 2077 would be a marvel.

Cyberpunk 2077's compelling characters and well-realized dystopian world delivers dozens of hours of open-world fun—provided you have the right hardware on which to play it, and a high tolerance for objectionable content.

If you enjoy the cyberpunk subgenre, open worlds, and open ended gameplay sequences, you can lose yourself to Night City for many hours. Just don’t expect a game that’s bug free.

It’s unfortunate that the hype train got so carried away during the years long lead up to Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt RED definitely didn’t help with their marketing that leaned into the hyperbolic expectations. It made the backlash more powerful and more negative than this game probably deserved. This Next-Gen version isn’t hot trash or unplayable but it definitely has benefited from having another year and a half in the oven. One can only hope that the industry and its community members learn how to manage expectations and avoid this mistake in the future, but if human history has taught us anything, that’s not likely.

But clunky actions and broken quests aside, it's still nearly impossible to not get hooked on Cyberpunk 2077 and, more specifically, on Night City. I've completed quests that made me physically uncomfortable and yearn for justice or vengeance alongside the affected characters, and I've crafted my version of V into exactly the kind of character I'd want with the reassuring knowledge that there will always be an option that fits my preferences. The plentiful possibilities and outcomes beg for multiple playthroughs, and I'm happy to oblige later after a break from Night City and after things have been cleaned up a bit.

Is Cyberpunk 2077 really the masterpiece we expected? The answer can only be positive. Cd Projekt RED's sci-fi and dystopian experience is one of the best productions of the generation, as well as one of the best Action-RPGs ever.

Cyberpunk 2077 has most of the makings of a great open world RPG but an avalanche of bugs and crashes prevent most of this potential from shining through the grime.

That being said, there is a lot to like here as well. Cyberpunk 2077 is an incredibly vibrant world, both visually and in its various interactions. Whether I was petting an animal, taking the time to read through billboards or finding a ton of quests to spend my time on, Night City was a thoroughly engaging virtual world. That being said, it’s still an imperfect world in a handful of minor but certainly noticeable ways. Though I was excited for the original release of Cyberpunk 2077, I suspect my experience benefitted from waiting to play. I’m glad I finally got the opportunity to do so.

I enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077. The story told and moreover the world it built was truly interesting. I’d certainly recommend playing it, but wish it wasn’t held back by gameplay and technical issues, even if it's still fun despite these. I’m glad I waited for the 1.5 update, as it does sound that this is a rather better experience than the one on launch.

Cyberpunk 2077's ultimate console version reaffirms the splendid storytelling, exceptional city-building and varied gameplay of the original game, while also being more polished, enriched and finally featuring performance and visuals worthy of new consoles. There is no shortage of smears and residual issues, but it still stands as an excellent first-person RPG, set in a fascinating retro-sci-fi world full of things to do and compelling stories to live. Definitely a must-have.

I am not going to call this a commendable effort, because honestly, this is how Cyberpunk 2077 should have been released in the first place. Sadly, committing to last-gen platforms at first, combined with fan demand, death threats, and the COVID-19 pandemic, resulted in a botched version of a great game that left a horrendous first impression. That is not the case with this PS5 version. This is how Cyberpunk 2077 should be played.
