We can't get enough of wanton 4-player zombie slaughter, and Zombie Army 4 sits among the best of them.

Honestly, Zombie Army 4 is exactly what you’re expecting it to be. Which is totally fine! If you’ve got a craving for gory undead violence, this game has just what you’re looking for. In spite of the weird pacing and curious boss placements, there’s still a lot of fun to be had. Especially if you’ve got a propensity for long range kills and curious weapons. If you want a dang decent undead action game on the Switch, check out Zombie Army 4: Dead War.

Zombie Army 4 is a fine end to the series.

Zombie Army 4 feels like an old friend you're reconnecting with after a few years. Even though it's similar to its predecessors, the game has been refined into something that holds greater mass appeal. Weapon upgrading, fresh enemy design, and a packed progression system give players a reason to keep coming back. The core gameplay loop is even better more when tackled in co-op, yielding some hilarious and action-packed adventures. Despite the good, the game's core issues arise from a bland campaign that lacks the impressive set pieces and locations from the previous iterations.

The shooting is among the best around and the X-ray shots are endlessly entertaining. I just wish there were more here to hold my attention past a single playthrough.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War is a fairly entertaining game, which however lacks the K.O. punch necessary to emerge in a genre full of competition. Even without memorable moments and original solutions it's an enjoyable experience, especially in multiplayer.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War isn't the perfect Left 4 Dead successor fans have been champing for, but it's one of the better attempts to date. What the game lacks in raw thrills, it makes up for with depth, challenge, solid tech, and devil-may-care craziness. If you're not already tired of co-op zombie shooters, there's a heck of a lot of fun to be had taking on Hitler's hellish hordes.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War is an absolute riot of a title that is just as cheeky as it is fun to play.

Zombie Army 4 is a solid co-op offering that offers plenty of blood-spilling fun. However, it's let down by dated mission design and repetition, while its single-player isn't half as fun as when you're teaming up with a group of mates. Fans of the series will definitely appreciate what's on offer, though.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War is a surprisingly solid Switch port of one of our favourite Rebellion titles thus far. There's a ton of zombie Nazi-slaying sweetness to get stuck into here and, although the graphics have taken a hit and the frame rate has been halved in comparison to other platforms, what's here is eminently playable in both docked and handheld modes. Whether you're taking on Hitler's undead hordes alone or with a few friends in tow, this one's a ton of schlocky B-movie fun that gets a great big thumbs up from us.

Ultimately, Zombie Army 4: Dead War is an amalgamation of tropes you’ve seen before, but it never quite nails any of them in a meaningful way.

As well as the trilogy that preceded it, Zombie Army 4: Dead War is characterized by a laced plot and the limits of trash, a simple pretext to guarantee us hours and hours of bloody fight against an army of Nazi zombies.

While it borrows heavily from its sniper-focused counterpart, Zombie Army 4 doesn't feel nearly as engaging, and it fails to capitalize on its promises of over-the-top gameplay and horror.

Zombie Army 4 : Dead War is an enjoyable and generous spin-off, with a delicious Grindhouse flavour that makes killing zombies quite fun, especially in cooperation, even if it can sounds a bit redundant and feels dated visually and in terms of A.I..

Zombie Army 4: Dead War is the kind of game designed to allow you to switch off and engage your trigger fingers, mowing down entire armies of the undead and cracking a smile when you see a bullet explode through a Nazi's skull. Hitting the sweet spot between catharsis and challenge, Zombie Army 4: Dead War is an absolute thrill.
