Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore provides solid JRPG performance. The story is exciting until the end. The crisp difficulty level remains challenging, but never unfair. I could really let myself fall during my several hours of travel in colorful Tokyo. This is also due to the fact that the parallel worlds were thematically wonderfully designed. Unfortunately, you can see that the ravages of time gnawed at the title. The graphics were not changed in the Encore version. There is also only a Japanese voice output. At least an English voice over could have been implemented here. JRPG fans will love Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore. Even people who have played the game before should consider buying it again thanks to the new dungeons, story missions and costumes.

A quirky and irresistible crossover, Tokyo Mirage Sessions is nonetheless an anachronistic game that doesn't explore its themes as much as it could --even though its battle system is solid enough to be attractive on its own.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore features some much-needed quality of life improvements, as well as a strong opening and novel combat. But, ultimately, tedious dungeon design and unrefined boss battles that plagued the original remain and prevent Encore from being the improvement it could be.

Gone pretty unnoticed during its first release on the Wii U back in 2015, the title developped jointly by Atlus and Intelligent Systems was and still is a niche game, mainly aimed at both JRPG and J-pop enthusiasts. This second iteration only provides some new minor features such as costumes and an original dungeon, where the characters dreams can be fulfilled... Quite a program, but still technically flawed, specially on TV mode.

While the game won’t appeal to those seeking the tactical gameplay of a classic Fire Emblem, anyone who didn’t jump onto the idol train last generation could do far worse than picking up this Encore, especially with a dearth of other games in a similar vein on the Nintendo Switch.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore is a great RPG that deserved a second chance on a more popular console. The changes might not be numerous but what is there elevates the game beyond the original and for those with a tolerance of the idol industry, you’ll find a fantastic RPG that fills that Persona void on the Switch.

TMS #FE Encore is a solid enough RPG that doesn't play to its strengths and ultimately falls short of greatness.

If you never played the original and this kind of game is up your alley, you won't be disappointed. It's a lengthy JRPG with all the things you would expect, and it runs fantastically on the Switch in docked and undocked modes. But if you've also just finished the excellent Fire Emblem: Three Houses and want something more substantial to sink into that features classic characters from the series, you may find it a little disappointing.

With one of the most addictive turn-based battle systems you'll find today in a JRPG, Tokyo Mirage Sessions was a blast to play. It's just unfortunate that the story and characters were about as bland as flavourless rice cakes.

It doesn't have the depth of standalone Persona and Fire Emblem games, but this is a fun crossover that will please followers of both, and Japanese role-playing fans in general.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE Encore takes you to meet the world of entertainment and idols of Japan, with battles full of powerfull songs and light shows, as you save the world from the dangerous Mirage. If you have 50 hours of your time to invest in a JRPG and you love the world of JPOP, then, there's no mistaking!

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore has some amazing RPG systems with a lackluster story. It’s nearly impossible to care about these characters and their relationship within the first ten hours of the game, and that’s more than enough time for players to just give up from disinterest.

I like to think of Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE Encore in the same way as Persona 4 Golden. It's the same game with a few added bells and whistles and it's playable on the go, which makes it even better.

‎A very Japanese video game that brings back very classic aspects of its role. With all that this entails.‎

If you must prepare for this game, then prepare to be exhausted, elated, and energized. I found the Persona/Fire Emblem mix to be a bit unbalanced for my tastes, with too much tough and not quite enough touching. Still, under the layers of glitter, music, and misery, there’s a rock-solid JRPG to be found. If any of these disparate ingredients caught your eye, then Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore will almost certainly keep you hooked.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore is the second breath of life this underappreciated game needed. It shows that mashup titles can work effectively if implemented with care and has a great story with a fantastic depiction of Tokyo. It’s new additional content does feel like a bit of an afterthought but if you haven’t previously played through the game then there is no better way to enjoy it than right here on the Switch.

After it's debut on the Wii U, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE returns for the Switch for a second chance to stand in the spotlight. Even though this typical JRPG is charming, it sometimes because a little bit too difficult for it's own good. Luckily new additions to the soften this blow and makes Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore a very enjoyable feel good title to play.

There are some minor quality of life issues that detract from the overall experience and the new content, arguably, isn’t worth double dipping for if you played the Wii U original.

At its heart, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore has delivered what’s expected in an enhanced port. New content, improved UI and small tweaks to make the gameplay faster all make a significant difference to the overall enjoyment. Although flawed in places, it’s a JPRG that dares to be bolder and braver with its stylish sequences and kawaii (though bizarre) story. It may not be to everyone’s tastes, but its whimsical ways will spoil those who can’t help but enjoy adorable things. Thanks for reincarnating this one, Atlus.
