Fans of the Half-Life universe will be more than satisfied with what Alyx has to offer, and newcomers will be introduced to a rich and intense world to explore and solve puzzles as plot threads related to the previous games are revealed.
Half-Life Alyx is proof that Valve is still at its best creatively. This emblematic franchise has been brought to virtual reality; in Alyx we enjoy an immersion never seen before, with comfortable and intuitive mechanics as well as excellent visuals and atmosphere that accompany this interesting adventure within the iconic saga.

An absolute masterpiece, Valve returns to the saga that made it famous with a game that offers totally original elements, fully integrated into the main canon and with a level of detail and interaction between objects rarely seen in any game. A virtual reality system is worth purchasing for this game alone.

Half-Life: Alyx a fantastic achievement, and if there was one title to convince someone that games can stand on their own unique artistic merit, this is surely it.
Half-Life: Alyx has its flaws, though these are hard to focus on when no other game offers an experience such as this. For now, Half-Life: Alyx is an absolute must-play title for both Half-Life fans and VR enthusiasts or anyone that has an opportunity to play it.
It’s refreshing to have a game that focuses on telling a full fledged story experience on a platform that is mostly stretching its legs with gameplay tech demos. It just so happens that this full fledged story is also a Half-Life game that also lives up to its predecessors and ties in nicely with them.
Although they're mainly known for maintaining the video game distribution network Steam these days, it's important to remember how instrumental Valve's games have been in moving the video game industry forward. With the recent release of Half-Life: Alyx, Valve's most impressive title yet, it's hard not to think that a new era for virtual reality has either just ended, or just begun. Either way, the game is a step forward for new, more immersive ways to engage with the interactive storytelling medium, and once a larger number of players get a chance to experience Half-Life: Alyx for themselves it's likely many, many more people will be inspired to go out and buy their own virtual reality headsets.
Half-Life: Alyx is another Half-Life and from this, draw your own conclusions…

Half Life Alyx is the game that VR needed. The story is good, technically it's delicious piece of cake and the gameplay is Half Life at its best. We need a powerful PC and the VR helmet, but it's worth it.

Alyx is a trooper throughout the entire adventure, and while she can get freaked out by the places she needs to go, she never stops moving forward.
Half-Life: Alyx is not just a prequel. We are dealing with a tangible, independent entry into the franchise. It's a shame that not every fan can experience this story for themselves, because Valve did such an incredible job in the final that I couldn't stop being amazed. I don't want to give too much away either, because this, this is something big. End Episode Two big, to stay in the familiar terminology. However, the 15 hours before the credits are also fun and keep you in a good mood throughout. The reunion with old acquaintances, learning new skills in VR or a deeper immersion into the stories around the legendary "Gordon Freeman", whom the young Alyx only knows from stories and rumors: I approached the title with high expectations and Valve actually delivered.

Half-Life: Alyx is a full VR experience the platform needed years ago. Its great story and interactive environment shows what you can do with virtual reality and a larger budget, and I hope this game blazes a path forward for more high quality VR experiences in the future.
It’s the best VR game yet, and maybe, just maybe, the best in the Half Life franchise.
Half-Life: Alyx will go down as a watershed moment for VR gaming. Valve's years of work in VR are on full display here, featuring gameplay memories that will last a lifetime.
I had such an incredible time going back into the Half-Life universe, and in VR. It's outstanding. The story is full of surprises as you can expect from a Half-Life game. A true AAA experience in VR, Half-Life: Alyx is a triumphant return for Valve—even if you aren't playing as Gordon Freeman.
It's a new generation of VR games and a whole new approach to fun. For this game it is worth buying glasses, because we have not experienced such a thing yet. Valve – fantastic job.

Simply the best VR-game for now. But nothing more than that.

“Half-Life’s” ties to survival-horror shine in “Alyx.” One enemy that most who have played “Half-Life” will remember are the Barnacles — monstrosities that attach themselves to the ceiling and dangle their long, thin, dark tongues close to the ground. VR makes their presence more unnerving. A random moment I loved happened when I pulled an object toward me that a Barnacle caught then with its tongue and devoured. I moved into place underneath it while carefully avoiding its grotesque appendage and fired a few shots, killing it and causing it to spit up my item. In that moment, and several others, I felt noticeably transported to one of the most vivid science fiction worlds I’ve experienced.
Half-Life: Alyx is a tremendous VR experience that should absolutely set the standard of quality for all VR games to come. But the lack of replayability value, and the scale factor of enjoyment dependent on your hardware and room size, holds Alyx back from being a truly astonishing game. Is it worth it alone to buy a headset for? I'm not sure, that depends on how big of a Half-Life fan you are. But I can say that there are tonnes of other VR games available that are worth buying a headset for already, and Half-Life Alyx will still be a significant entry in that list of games.
