The only real downside is that there's not more to it.

Roundguard's genre innovations are novel, but they fail to distract from poor roguelike progression and a general lack of depth. It's a whimsical arcadey diversion, but not much more than that.

Not only is it a hoot to play, Roundguard looks great thanks to a bright and bold cartoon art style.

Roundguard helped relieve my feelings of anxiety during this global pandemic and satiated my desire to play D&D. This game could be even more fun with a co-op element or game mode. Complete bouncing mayhem!

It's Peggle if they went beyond clearling pegs and gave you a mana bar.

Gameplay is Roundguard's strongest suit. It manages to combine a number of unique gameplay elements into a cohesive game that works extremely well. Some mechanics aren't 100 percent perfect, but there's not much to complain about. It's a short experience, but Roundguard is a novel idea that was executed very well.

Considering Peggle hasn't seen the light of day in a long time, Roundguard now carries the torch while offering plenty of fun twists.

When it comes to casual games from the previous generation or so that I remember with great fondness, the unique Peggle is one that easily stands out in my mind...

Roundguard is a small, lightweight, and simple game about pinball physics in a dungeon-crawling setting. I feel that it’s asking price is a bit much on PC and consoles, but it’s a perfect choice on Apple Arcade.

Most rooms can be completed in a few minutes, which helps with time management, but it can also become addictive and turn into a longer session if you’re successful.

Roundguard lays a new twist on dungeon crawler games; it’s a clever idea that has been executed very well by the developers and turned into an addictive and cohesive game that works. For those that are missing their puzzle/Peggle hit, Roundguard could fill that gap. While it’s not an overly long game, what it does supply is very enjoyable and fun gameplay.

Roundguard is a likeable game, nothing that will keep you enthralled for long, however. I think it would be more suited to be played on a Switch or a phone. I played Roundguard on a PS4. Thus, I feel I must judge it as a PS4 title. Roundguard is a good game if you want a game to play for an hour to run through and pass the time. However, it offers little more beyond that. The core idea that Roundguard has is decent, it just needs to be expanded upon. If you want to play Roundguard, I suggest picking it up for Switch or on your Phone instead. I reviewed Roundguard on the April 14th, 2020, over two weeks after its initial release on the PS4 on March 25th, 2020. There are so many roguelikes being released every single week, it’s no surprise that some of them end up being as forgettable and underwhelming as Roundguard. It’s a game that might have a creative premise, but fails to deliver due to its hideous visuals, disappointing soundtrack, and lack of replayability.
