Microsoft Flight Simulator Reviews
A technical marvel, as well as an education and exploration of the joys of flight.
Unparalleled realism and an entire planet to explore makes Microsoft Flight Simulator a simulation like no other.
An incredible exploration portal with even greater potential once its tech issues have been addressed.
Some fiddliness with controls and interface can't hold back Asobo's phenomenal creation from shining in its new context.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is well worth checking out. Hardcore simmers will love it, and for more casual players it is still undeniably fun. While the full $60 price tag ($120 for the Premium Deluxe edition) might be a bit much for gamers who typically play more traditional titles, Flight Sim will also be offered on Xbox Game Pass, which makes it a very strong value proposition. As much as we longed for more content, something kept us coming back, again and again, to try out another plane, fly over another landmark, or attempt one more tricky landing.
Ultimately, Microsoft Flight Simulator was well worth the wait. For enthusiasts of past installments, there is so much to look forward to. For those who might be on the fence about a flight simulator that is virtually an endless sandbox game, the great news is that it has been added to the Xbox Game Pass on PC right from launch, and players can check it out there before making the plunge.
Microsoft Flight Simulator deserves to be played - but it shouldn't be considered essential. It's a unique experience, one that won't capture everyone in the same way, but you really do owe it to yourself to find your house, your partner's, your parent's, your favourite holiday destination, and just fly over. The world looks very different from thousands of feet in the air, and for now, Microsoft Flight Simulator is the only way I can get that irresistible point of view.
Even if you just show up to take in the sights, it’s an experience that is well worth your time. Just turn on the AI pilot, kick back with a glass of Champagne in first class, and enjoy the ride.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is a spectacular technical achievement and a deeply inspiring experience, filled with glorious possibilities.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is as much a platform as a game
It’s a technical achievement and an excellent training aid, but it’s also a brilliant piece of escapism, transcending its purpose as a tool to become something far more widely enjoyable – and I can’t recommend it enough.
It's hard to understate how incredible having the whole world available feels and the amount of possibility it opens up.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is the best way to see the world from your couch.
I’m somewhere between neophyte and sim veteran, and Microsoft Flight Simulator has won me over. It happened when I picked a flight path from a small, grass airfield in Brazil to an airport in São Paulo. It feels so good to learn the characteristics of your plane while watching the sunset give away to a purple sheet of stars. And I’m confident that most people will end up feeling the same way if they’re willing to give the game a chance.
Those willing to fully commit to Microsoft Flight Simulator will find an immersive experience like nothing else they've ever played.
Flight Simulator on Xbox Series X is a stunning piece of technology that gives you freedom unlike anything has before. With beautiful visuals and a fully realised world to explore, it's hard not to be blown away.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 not only offered me a breathtakingly immersive experience, but it also helped with my fear of flying.
Asobo Studio has created something truly impressive with Flight Simulator 2020.
A masterpiece, but above that a way to reach for the sky for all those people who would love to fly but can't. Microsoft Flight Simulator is a wonderful gift to flight sim lovers worldwide.
