8 / 10.0 - Mirrored Souls
Sep 1, 2023

Mirrored Souls lives up to the publisher's name, offering a brief experience but extremely pleasant. The plot explores complex and deep themes that have intrigued mankind since ancient times. In the same vein, the puzzles are compelling and will definitely please the genre's enthusiasts.

8.5 / 10.0 - Red Dead Redemption
Aug 31, 2023

Red Dead Redemption has a memorable story, iconic characters and a gameplay that left a mark for a golden age of action adventures and for Rockstar, who managed to spread their wings beyond the shadow of Grand Theft Auto. Its influence lasts to these days, as I am here, 13 years later, talking about its Switch port; thus, if you have any reservation about experiencing this modern classic, I recommend at least giving it a chance. Who knows if you won't get so excited that you will also jump into Red Dead Redemption 2 (if you haven't yet)?

9 / 10.0 - Sea of Stars
Aug 28, 2023

Sea of Stars evokes nostalgia by bringing an adventure reminiscent of 20th century RPGs to modern consoles. With a meticulously crafted audiovisual package, charismatic characters and locations and lots of lore to be explored, its simplicity makes Zale and Valere's adventure a full plate for both veterans and newcomers to the genre. Even with a few caveats here and there, this game is proof that, although there are setbacks along the way, the result can be – and a lot – worth it.

Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles is an efficient restoration of important titles for the fans of Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure who didn't have the opportunity to know the events beyond the end of Cornet's journey in her musical debut. It's also an interesting experience for those who, through the NIS Classics collections, got to know the titles that helped shape the structure of the modern titles made by the company and who want to have an explore games with concepts that are a little different from what we have nowadays.

9 / 10.0 - Unpacking
Aug 24, 2023

Playing Unpacking is a unique experience that demonstrates how the simplicity of gameplay, when well employed, can translate into an absurdly involving and emotional work. Through the mechanics of unpacking and organizing, the game unveils the story of its protagonist and invites us to reflect on our own journeys, revisiting not only the objects that passed through our lives, but also the people who remain and those who are gone.

9 / 10.0 - Blasphemous 2
Aug 23, 2023

Blasphemous 2 is one of the best metroidvanias available on the market. From the impeccable visuals to the gameplay enhancements, the only real blasphemy here is not enjoying this carefully curated sequel by The Game Kitchen. So rise and accept your fate, Penitent: Cvstodia's fate is once again in your hands (and this is fortunately great news).

9 / 10.0 - Norn9: Last Era
Aug 22, 2023

With all the positive points of Var Commons intact, Norn9: Last Era is a package that's very rich in content, bringing explanations and perspectives that were not explored in the base game. Unfortunately, some CGs were reused on the fandisk and some parts of the narrative are more padded than they should but, for fans of visual novels, the second trip onboard the Norn is quite worth it.

The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood is another unmissable narrative work from Deconstructeam, offering a level of sensitivity, cohesion and depth that is very difficult to find in the market. The well-written narrative, high-quality audiovisual aspects and unique mechanics come together in an impactful experience that deserves to be highlighted.

7 / 10.0 - Adore
Aug 19, 2023

Adore has some good ideas, especially when it comes to its fun combat system, but also the slight sense of wasted potential for a game that spent so much time in early access. Still, if the promise of collecting creatures and building the best team possible for fast-paced real-time combat appeals to you, there's plenty to enjoy here. Here's hoping, then, that in an eventual (and more ambitious) sequel, being a worshiper will be less repetitive and even more exciting.

8.5 / 10.0 - Moving Out 2
Aug 19, 2023

Moving Out 2 didn't come to set a new standard in the chaotic simulator genre. Its mission leans more towards maintaining a proven efficient formula, with changes aimed at mitigating the main problems of its predecessor. This goal was also achieved, and the result is a sequence that is not perfect, but it is fun, has good challenges and a lot of laughs — that is, it does what a video game has to do, although many people forget about it.

Unidentified Falling Objects mixes platforming and block destruction in a highly addicting experience. With many well-planned systems at its core, it's easy to recommend it to any player who likes arcade experiences, and constantly makes an effort to improve their scores.

Overall, Pups & Purrs Pet Shop's "balance" tends to very positive. The game presents a good variety of fun minigames as well as a competent time management portion in the story mode. The visuals for the game and the pets are adorable and the customization possibilities are enough to entertain for a long time, even though there's room for much more. It's definitely a title recommended for those who want to pass time casually or for children who want to have fun with some games with cute pets as a theme.

AKIBA'S TRIP: Undead and Undressed Director's Cut is a gift for all otakus, being more an eccentric city simulator than a masterpiece, but still, its unique gameplay system, destroying enemies through strip, is interesting and strangely funny. The references to the electronic city are the game's charm and, although I've never visited Akihabara, I was able to capture several points of otaku culture represented in the game. It may not be the best within its genre, but if you're an otaku and want to feel a little nostalgic for the past, AKIBA'S TRIP might be a good choice to spend a few afternoons relaxing uncompromisingly.

Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons dives headlong into renewing the franchise, even though it respects the classic a lot and avoids mischaracterizing it, thus preserving the nostalgia factor. The changes that bring new perspectives to the gameplay and fighting strategy in the campaign are very welcome, thus differentiating the title from its contemporaries. The stumbles in difficulty and the injustice caused by wrong decisions, however, take the shine out of the journey – both solo and in duo –, which is fun most of the time, until it becomes extremely frustrating.

8.5 / 10.0 - Ember Knights
Aug 9, 2023

Presenting efficiency and simplicity, Ember Knights surprised me positively on the Switch. With its addictive formula, worthy of the roguelite genre, the challenges are intense and fun as they allow many strategic combinations through the varied equipment, powers and relics. Despite the absence of an online mode and lacking challenge diversity, the Ember Knights saga is a fun action game burning like a blaze especially because of its hot gameplay.

6.5 / 10.0 - Oaken
Aug 8, 2023

Oaken is a sad case of the game that lacks so much in technical aspects that its practical side loses much of its appeal. You can't expect everyone to have the good will to deal with an excessive amount of content introduced at a pace that overloads the player, nor with extremely confusing interfaces, only then to enjoy the qualities that a product has to offer.

9.5 / 10.0 - Pikmin 4
Aug 2, 2023

It is expected that some series will show ups and downs. Others, however, follow a path of constant evolution, improving and improving with each new title. Pikmin 4 marks the apex of the franchise, bringing (almost) everything good that previous games have already presented, in addition to excellent new features and the implementation of all these elements in a pleasant and inviting way. If this fourth title isn't able to win you over, I don't know what will.

Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening is a great game from a lesser-known franchise in the West, but one that certainly deserves recognition from strategist enthusiasts. There are some problems executing commands in the console version and its learning barrier is a little more demanding, but those who persist for three or four games will be rewarded with an extremely complex game, full of different strategies to win and completely addictive. Its replayability potential is incredible with so many clan options to control and surely hundreds of hours can be enjoyed in it.

Sucker For Love: First Date is a romance simulator with cosmic creatures that manages to handle well both its comical side and the nefarious implications of its concept. Though some quality of life details could have been better, its plot and the curious system of doing sinister rituals for a kiss make it a title very different from the usual ones in the market and, at the same time, shows competency in depicting romance, comedy and horror and mixing them up.
