7 / 10.0 - Monster Harvest
Aug 31, 2021

If on the one hand Monster Harvest gets it right in certain aspects, such as its farming system and its beautiful aesthetics, on the other hand we have superficial combats and performance errors hampering the journey, which ended up disappointing me a little. Anyway, it's undeniable that the title offers fun and has creative ides, which when combined, as well as Uncle Spark's ingenious mix of plants and animals, can entertain players of different styles at the same time.

ACA Neo Geo World Heroes 2 is a fighting game with fun and technically advanced gameplay, innovative projectile reflection and throw reversal mechanics, as well as offering two game modes and fourteen interesting characters. Unfortunately it is little known by the public, which makes its availability for modern platforms like Switch very important so that more people can know and appreciate it.

Prinny Presents NIS Classics Vol. 1 is a collection of good strategy games that, for fans of the genre, is worth checking out. Unfortunately, the lack of polish makes the titles not look as good as they should in a re-release, especially the Soul Nomad port, but they are still high quality titles from Nippon Ichi Software's collection.

Chess Knights: Shinobi is yet another game to learn chess and have fun with its tactics, but without revolutionizing in any aspect. The gameplay is quite simple and the chess pieces and level design capture the Japanese Edo era well enough. The puzzles range from the simplest and fastest to the insanely difficult very quickly, so getting through the full game is sure to be an arduous and challenging task.

6.5 / 10.0 - Zengeon
Aug 25, 2021

For those who love action roguelikes and can play online with friends, Zengeon might even be interesting. However, overall the game is too shallow to be worth it. Switch already has several other more interesting examples of the genre.

Indigo 7: Quest for Love has simple gameplay and a satisfying visual presentation, but that's all the positives this puzzle has to offer. The lack of an options menu, long matches based on trial and error and a weak story are some of the problems. It even entertains at first, but soon falls into tedious repetitiveness and, consequently, into oblivion.

8.5 / 10.0 - Arietta of Spirits
Aug 23, 2021

Dealing with delicate themes, Arietta of Spirits has a lot of charisma, especially considering its welcoming qualities. Among the multiple dimensions inhabited by spirits and humans, the journey may not be deep in terms of combat, but it is attractive for its sensitivity. In the company of Ari and Arco, it's easy to enjoy the simple adventure and the moving narrative.

8 / 10.0 - Cinders
Aug 22, 2021

Cinders is an excellent visual novel that makes the player think a lot about the Cinderella tale. With striking and very believable characters, it is possible to understand the motivations of each one and test dozens of different options to lead the protagonist in the way the player prefers, for better or for worse, and bear the consequences of those decisions. Despite not having Brazilian Portuguese localization and some rhythm issues, it is recommended for lovers of good stories.

5 / 10.0 - Apple Slash
Aug 22, 2021

Apple Slash uses fast paced rhythm to create a good action adventure. It's exciting to defeat groups of enemies with powerful attacks, especially when we can mix up special abilities. Moreover, there's charm in its compact world and retro atmosphere. However, the experience is extremely brief and feels unfinished. In the end, Apple Slash is fun, but it's an ephemeral experience.

Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bone Town succeeds in bringing nostalgia and a great, humorous tribute to point-and-click adventure gamers from the golden age of PC adventure gaming, and does so with an elegant and accessible level design, and in dialogue with a contemporary urban setting. On the other hand, due to its brevity, lack of design originality, ingenuity in puzzles and even its narrative simplicity, it is far from being a modern work with greater personality in the point-and-click genre.

7 / 10.0 - Mayhem Brawler
Aug 20, 2021

Mayhem Brawler isn't a long beat ‘em up, but it certainly guarantees a fun and surprisingly strategic experience as long as it has content to offer. Its path-choice system injects a considerable amount of extra playtime, and the special conditions mechanics help keep the game from slipping into sameness. Anyone who enjoys an extra spice in the conventional formula of the genre will enjoy the streets of Mayhem City.

8 / 10.0 - Trigger Witch
Aug 16, 2021

As a shooting game, Trigger Witch is very nice and an easy recommendation. In particular, the frenetic combat and the use of the environment itself as a way of dealing with the hordes of enemies stand out. If the concept of witches with firearms interests you, it's worth checking out.

8 / 10.0 - Road 96
Aug 16, 2021

For those who like a good adventure game or a visual novel more focused on narrative than gameplay, Road 96 not only delivers a rich and very unique experience, but also surprises and innovates in some aspects. The feeling of traveling, experiencing all that life has to offer, is masterfully achieved until the end. Subsequent runs can reveal some problems, such as the repetition of locations and narrative points, but it is well worth playing the story with an open heart at least once.

Dragon Star Varnir tells a good story of witches and knights, with great emphasis on character development. Keeping track of everything is quite satisfying, even on skits loaded with hours and hours of text. On the other hand, the possibility of different endings and the interesting combat system justify the re-launch of the game, deserving more attention than it had before. Far beyond just a game about eating dragons, Zephy's adventure certainly offers a good story, in which its flaws, that are notorious, don't diminish Dragon Star Varnir's place in the Switch's JRPG library.

Monster's Expedition is practically perfect in everything it does. The game has challenging but not unfair puzzles, humor just right and very beautiful and varied scenarios. With the exception of choosing to hide the map most of the time, the navigation, controls and organization of stages in islands are very well done and tweaked. Those who like to rack their brains without getting angry will have fun like never before in this strange exhibition.

Without a doubt, Greak: Memories of Azur is a fantastic game. I confess to having spent practically my entire journey with a smile from ear to ear as I learned more about the world of Courines, enjoying the backdrops with rich handcrafted arts and racking my brain in ingenious puzzles. Thus, it's easy to be enchanted by the triple gameplay involving Greak, Adara and Raydel, who star in an unforgettable adventure in the fight to preserve Azur's memory.

Picross S GENESIS & Master System edition is exactly what it promised to be: a puzzle game with elements from both consoles. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that, as fans of the franchise can feast on hundreds of new puzzles that will keep them busy for hours on end. The presence of SEGA makes the game more interesting than any other release in the series on Nintendo Switch. However, for a title that deals with such important intellectual property and that is the ninth release in the hybrid console franchise, its shallow design ends up disappointing. Since 2017, developer Jupiter has ignored basic quality of life enhancements that would make its nonogram collections even better. This would have been a good time to introduce them, along with ways that better illustrate the classics represented.

Despite non-trivial performance issues that significantly detract from the experience, a simple game design in virtually all respects, and few innovations, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox still has the virtue of its predecessor in having a solid, accessible battle system, diverse and relatively balanced action-RPG, yet with some enhancements, plus a reasonably well-written story, well-designed characters and, above all, considerable refinement in vertical level design and exploration in and out of dungeons.

Shadowverse: Champion's Battle is a TCG with very newbie friendly RPG elements. Unlike other franchises in the genre, Cygames hit the nail on the head by creating a game accessible to all types of players, whether or not they are familiar with Shadowverse and its rules. At the same time, the game manages to remain faithful to the PC and smartphone version, and has the attractiveness of the “anime style”, breaking the seriousness that TCGs usually have. The title also ends up being a good option for a younger target audience, thanks to the charisma of the characters and the special effects in each duel, but without leaving the more veterans and completionists aside.

The combination of sports and RPGs is on its honeymoon with the arrival of Dodgeball Academia. Standing out for its addictive gameplay and overflowing with charisma, it proves itself as a Brazilian pearl that deserves all the success in the world. You can see the affection of the developers in every little animation and every little detail of the scenario, to the point that our hearts just can't help but fall in love with this exciting universe.
