Nintendo Blast's Reviews

Stick Fight: The Game is very good at everything it does, but it could go a little further. The absence of a singleplayer mode and more customization options, gradually diminish interest. However, despite the repetition and little incentive for a continuous sequence of matches, the game is a perfect companion for that moment when you want to challenge the family to a fast and fun fight. After all, being casual does not mean being simple, and that title shows it very well.

Lost Words: Beyond the Page is strongly recommended to anyone who wants to see something a little "out of the box", with a high artistic content, or who is more willing to enjoy the game gradually, while instead of playing it all at once. The game's art direction alone makes this a unique experience and the way the narrative scenes were articulated will certainly serve as a future reference for new titles. Now that it is accessible to a wider audience, hopefully it will finally get the attention it deserves.

With intuitive gameplay, charismatic characters and many features, it's hard not to be charmed by Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville. The problems are practically insignificant when compared to the length and refinement of the title, which has a high replay factor, even more if we consider that it is in its Complete Edition. It is with high spirits and very good humor, this is one of the best shooters available on Switch.

6 / 10.0 - Golden Force
Apr 12, 2021

Golden Force is competent in what it proposes and is a good entertainment throughout its duration. However, some dedication and attention to details such as variation in the gameplay and presentation screen would bring more elements for the game to go beyond the basics and stand out in the middle of the ocean.

4.5 / 10.0 - Balan Wonderworld
Apr 10, 2021

Unlike what it preaches, Balan Wonderworld made me sad after finishing it. Sad not because I had a bad experience, but because of the opportunity missed by Yuji Naka, Naoto Ohshima and their team. It is clear that the developers had passion for the project. After all, nobody would make such a creative story, with very well produced cutscenes and great soundtrack, if they didn't care about their work. However, the way in which this project was carried out leaves much to be desired. Lack of explanation of the narrative and in-game mechanics, slow and confusing controls and gameplay, repetitive combat, poor stage design and performance problems make this visit to Balan Theatre one of those difficult to endure.

9.5 / 10.0 - Monster Hunter Rise
Apr 8, 2021

Monster Hunter Rise is a direct result of perfecting the great qualities that made the franchise the global blockbuster it is today. An unmissable masterpiece that hits the mark on almost everything and the few problems can be fixed in the free expansions. Whether new or veteran, Monster Hunter Rise hunts provide an experience so refined that it will take a long time to get it out of your mind.

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town has potential, some good ideas and a certain unfulfilled ambition hidden behind some layers of performance problems and strange game design choices. The game is fun enough as a farm simulator and will likely please fans enough, but certain issues are glaring and hinder the fun. Story of Seasons became more daring, but at the same time it forgot some basic elements. If you are very curious, at least wait for the updates, which will certainly improve the experience as a whole.

Kaze and the Wild Masks features solid gameplay with easy-to-master controls, as well as praiseworthy sound and artistic work. The game can be deservedly placed among the best 2D platform games available in the Switch library and is further proof that the Brazilian game production market has more than enough level and talent to produce works capable of enchanting players worldwide.

Overcooked! All You Can Eat offers a good amount of content for the price of a single game. In addition, it brings improvements to the first title of the series, making it more palatable, and gives more options for players, making the experience more inclusive and enjoyable.

7.5 / 10.0 - Narita Boy
Apr 5, 2021

Narita Boy is a remarkable adventure, mainly for its blessed and retro-futuristic graphic style, but Studio KOBA's lack of experience made the plot a little repetitive and tiring. Still, it's worth checking out Narita Boy, who should find his place among the successful independent games and receive a sequel in the years to come.

Sumatra: Fate of Yandi is a title that manages to please not only fans of adventure, puzzle and point and click games. The game is fun, pulsating and touching, presenting a plot full of mysteries and adventures. What makes Sumatra unique is how the mechanics and puzzles tied to narrative elements work together to tell a story of celebration to the family and real friendships. Mainly because it reminds us of the safest place of all that we always yearn to return: our home.

8 / 10.0 - Cathedral
Apr 1, 2021

By being simple in many ways, such as aesthetics and gameplay, Cathedral plays it safe and focuses on offering expansive and varied content. In that sense, the title is successful, proving to be an intense and fun exploration adventure, although highly difficult. As much as you have faced similar games lately, a visit to this mysterious and robust world is recommended, even if it is far from introducing innovations to the metroidvania genre.

6 / 10.0 - Loot Hero DX
Mar 31, 2021

Loot Hero DX is a cool game if you have nothing to play and are just bored. It is a title that brings a feeling of worthlessness, as if everything you are doing is meaningless, and it does not provide greater incentives to stab enemies again with the spear.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time honors its own name, serving as the much-deserved sequel to the original trilogy. Naturally, it has flaws, but it gets it right by perfecting the gameplay and elements for which the series became known, such as linear stages and centralized platform challenges. In addition, it also brings hints of novelty in the form of Quantum Masks and extra characters. We don't know what the future holds for the series, but if Crash 4 is any sign, we can say that we are in good hands.

8 / 10.0 - Golf Zero
Mar 25, 2021

Mixing the hardcore platforming genre with golf, Golf Zero comes out with a point above par. Fast and diverse, the game stands out thanks to a good dose of challenge, precise gameplay and humor, since sacrificing your golfer to find the perfect curve is one of the practices necessary to progress in the game. But judging by the cover, many players will fail to enjoy a great game of the genre, as there are sure to be good hours of fun and challenge to complete all stages with the gold medal.

Two Point Hospital brings an efficient resource management and simulation experience to the consoles. With a lot of variety, humor and content, the title does what it proposes almost perfectly. On the Switch version , specifically, the amount of information on the screen hinders visibility in the portable mode. In addition, the little challenge in the early stages and the amount of tutorial information can bother more experienced players. Those who go through these first moments, however, will find not only a large amount and variety of content, but also challenge in the right measure.

8 / 10.0 - Battle Brothers
Mar 24, 2021

Battle Brothers is a title worth having in your library. The lack of a learning curve and tutorial are issues that limit the game to a certain audience. Although there are some port problems, the experience is not affected. The simplicity of the battle system and the deep management mode add personality to the game and set the right tone for this strategic RPG. The title seems to have been developed so that the player will play it again many times, and believe me: you will want to play it many times.

9 / 10.0 - Root Film
Mar 24, 2021

Root Film is an excellent example of visual mystery novels. With an impeccably conducted storyline, its story has very interesting cases and the voices help to give the necessary drama to the events. Thanks to this, the small problems are practically irrelevant and anyone looking for a good game of the genre is likely to have guaranteed fun.

8.5 / 10.0 - Space Otter Charlie
Mar 23, 2021

What pleased me most about Space Otter Charlie was its ability to be a platform title that seeks to reinvent itself. Zero-gravity mechanics, which sometimes refer to some Super Mario Galaxy worlds, but are redesigned in 2D, are well applied and offer good moments, especially in puzzles. Thus, the combination of talking animals in space, with humorous dialogues and exquisite gameplay, is a journey in the stars that enchants, even if everything ends up practically at the speed of light.

Anodyne 2: Return to Dust is a surprisingly fascinating game. Merging 3D and 2D gameplay, it offers a vast world for exploration and fascinating microcosms that allow the player to sift through the feelings and obsessions of New Terreland residents. Despite some small problems, it is an adventure game whose universe is thought-provoking and invites the player to dive into its history.
