Nintendo Blast's Reviews

Rise of Third Power is a competent homage to the golden age of classic RPGs. Despite the flaws in crucial points of the genre such as the story, it is possible to feel at different times the developers' affection for their work, so that, with controlled expectations, it becomes fully possible to find fun in the adventure of Rowan and his unlikely team.

Super Onion Boy 2 is an extremely simple and fun game that is capable of putting good smiles on its short playing time, despite being lacking in terms of originality. The game won't hold you for long and there's certainly not much to do other than complete all the stages with the maximum possible score, but the journey to the end is a light experience and capable of becoming an adventure with good layers fun.

9 / 10.0 - OlliOlli World
Feb 7, 2022

OlliOlli World is not the perfect game, but it delivers what it proposes in an almost impeccable way. There are those who will find some parts too difficult or that the gameplay is repetitive, however the title is ready to welcome almost any type of player, allowing a relaxed and customizable experience, as well as delivering a series of tense challenges for the most fearless. With a beautiful aesthetic, fantastic soundtrack and top-notch gameplay, it's easy to recommend this adventure. Whether you enjoy skateboarding, runner-style platforming, or just want to relax in style on Switch, keep in mind that the colorful and extreme world of OlliOlli is always at your disposal.

Death end re;Quest 2 brings a thought-provoking story and makes welcome changes to combat, especially with a working auto mode. However, while there are successes, the game repeats the mistakes of its predecessor, aggravating them even more, especially in the graphics. Between the PC/PS4 version and the Switch version, unfortunately I can't recommend playing on the hybrid console.

8 / 10.0 - Maglam Lord
Feb 5, 2022

Maglam Lord is a stylish, enjoyable and charismatic action RPG. With an enjoyable narrative, good translation and fun combat, it's not hard to fall in love with the game. Some technical aspects deserved to be more polished, but it's still a good recommendation, especially for fans of the genre.

8.5 / 10.0 - Demon Gaze EXTRA
Feb 3, 2022

Demon Gaze Extra is the definite edition of one of many cult titles the PlayStation Vita had during its lifetime. The quality of life improvements and notable graphic update to high definition allow this charismatic game to reserve its place as one of the best Dungeon RPGs available on the Switch.

8.5 / 10.0 - The Company Man
Feb 2, 2022

With enjoyable gameplay, fascinating aesthetics and energetic moments, The Company Man is an excellent recommendation for platform game fans. The title stands out by presenting a creative interpretation of the business theme, even though some problems, such as poorly distributed checkpoints, hinder the final result.

Presented as the new Apex of 2D action, Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2 is a really high quality work in the genre. Though its initially lower difficulty and infinite healing system may annoy a few veterans, it's a game that offers frantic action and allows any kind of player to enjoy its beautiful stages in their own way. It's an instant classic.

Reverie Knights Tactics is a great RPG, with a unique art style, captivating characters, a deep story and rich in details. Combat is challenging and tactically deep, and requires the player to think ahead when making decisions. Even those who don't enjoy a challenge will enjoy it playing in Story mode. It is a highly recommended game for tactical RPG enthusiasts, especially fans of Holy Avenger and the Tormenta universe.

8 / 10.0 - RPGolf Legends
Jan 27, 2022

RPGolf Legends is a fun game that combines traditional European sport, which sometimes seems unusual to Brazilians, with role-playing progression and real-time battles. With multiple qualities, it forms a title capable of bringing us closer to the elegance of golf, an activity that, contrary to its stereotypes, is far from being slow or boring - even more so when it is practiced in a wide, attractive and charming open world.

SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash is a captivating game with a simple system that can be a very good entry point into the TCG genre. Unfortunately, the emulation of this Neo Geo Pocket classic doesn't take into account the uniqueness of the original version and ends up undermining what could even have been the best re-release of the portable for the Switch.

7.5 / 10.0 - Windjammers 2
Jan 24, 2022

Windjammers 2 is a throwback to the arcade era, when the fun came from the competition itself. With a faithful reproduction of the original game's systems, new gameplay elements that add an extra layer of strategy to disputes and a great focus on local or ranked confrontations over the internet, the game is recommended for those who like to feel the adrenaline of victory after a close match. However, the lack of more elaborate modes and a single player progression system means that the game doesn't have much offline content to enjoy. Of course, the stimulating gameplay and the challenges imposed by the CPUs make up a little for this shortcoming, but the feeling that more could have been done in this regard to make the game reach even greater potential is not unremarkable.

7.5 / 10.0 - Labyrinth Legend
Jan 23, 2022

Even without hiding its minimalist aspects, Labyrinth Legends is a dungeon crawler that features a seductive gameplay format, capable of engaging with intense combat and addictive progression systems. A few presentation issues aside, especially the dialog boxes, this is an adventure that undeniably boasts rich and valuable features, just like those desired by Pathfinder warriors who travel to explore Katana's labyrinth.

6 / 10.0 - Night Lights
Jan 22, 2022

Night Lights minimally delivers what it sets out to deliver, it has an interesting central idea and is consistent with it in audiovisual, as well as its level design is casual, accessible and intuitive. However, the game does not bring a captivating fictional world concept and/or plot to the proposal, the mechanics are creatively underused even considering its casual intent and its art is simple and generic. Still, the title is recommended to those who like puzzles with a cute design and sidescroller movement, but be aware that this is a very modest game in everything it does.

9 / 10.0 - Picross S7
Jan 19, 2022

Picross S7 offers an addicting and content-rich experience for people who love logic puzzles. The main idea of Picross is explored through a varied selection of puzzles, with some modes that change the rules a little to bring more variety. The new touch controls make the matches really fast, though this option is a little imprecise in the larger puzzles. The lack of notable changes when compared to previous entries is a shame but its vast amount of content is enough to compensate the issue. Overall, Picross S7 is once again a solid entry in the series.

7.5 / 10.0 - Eternal Radiance
Jan 17, 2022

On one side, a visual novel structure capable of skillfully building a sentimental story. On another, action moments that are intense and deep, though its presentation can sometimes be unsightly. Eternal Radiance is, therefore, an elegant RPG that manages to deliver a fun and varied experience on Switch.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is the definitive proof of the consistency Spike Chunsoft has shown during the main trilogy of the franchise. The quality leap from Goodbye Despair isn't as high as the one there was in the first two entries — in fact, I felt GD was the best of the three —, but it's a conclusion that hangs onto the Danganronpa identity while having its own personality. The recurrent issues of the Switch port and small barriers of the pacing don't hold back the quality enough for this final chapter to be subpar to its predecessors. A strong metanarrative, with frequent references and fourth-wall breaking, can make Danganronpa's humor maybe a little too bold, but it's undeniably done a great job at ending Monokuma's foolishness — if it'll be the actual ending remains to be seen.

If I had to describe Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space in one short sentence, it would probably be “a timeless classic”. With high doses of humor that ranges from nonsense to the North American stand-up style, the game is deeply captivating and charismatic. With competent remastering and just a few minor issues, the Switch experience is well worth it.

3.5 / 10.0 - Dungeon Munchies
Jan 1, 2022

Dungeon Munchies looks like a demo of itself or at least a hollow shell of a project that stopped trying before it started. Not all unique indies hit the mark at first but this title seems to get almost everything wrong. There are many similar games on the Nintendo Switch that are much more fun and interesting. Stay away and move on.

Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX successfully brings two classic games to today's platforms. Even more than twenty years after their original releases, the unique concept remains fun and interesting, and the implementation of the search for a music catalog ensures that part of the magic of generating new monsters through discs remains preserved, albeit partially.
