If you’re looking for a racing game to tide you over between now and the next Forza, then Project Cars 3 is absolutely worth the effort.
A little extra time in development and more inventive ideas would've done this disappointing third installment in a beloved racing series well, but all it did was rehash previous ideas, significantly dumb down many aspects that made its predecessors so exciting, and mash together an incoherent mess of a sim racer that was clearly out for money above a good time.
If you loved the first two Project Cars installments, you'll ve dissapointed. On the contrary, if you're looking for something new in the Forza Motorsport/ Gran Turismo style and you liked GRID and maybe crave a long career with lots of content, you've found your game. Project Cars 3 isn't a bad title. It just lost its identity, aiming to please larger number of players. However, it still offers a great number of content and a decent racing experience, even though it's a bit more arcade-ish.

Project Cars 3 is a welcome surprise: thanks to a solid and well-made technical apparatus, the title moves away from its historical simulation characterization to take a path capable of offering the player a lighter and simpler atmosphere, resulting a genuinely fun game that youngs and olds will enjoy, both longtime fans and enthusiasts of the genre, and newbies who are for the first time on a track. The engines have been hot for a while, getting on board and giving gas is now almost a duty.

Project Cars 3 is a great racing title that is sure to satisfy people who are ready to hop in, grind some races, and customize their own experience.
Ultimately, I feel the greatest mistake that Project CARS 3 makes is being called what it is. Fans of the previous two games probably won’t find what they expect here, while those who disliked them could possibly be put off by the name. This is essentially a paradigm shift for the series, taking it into new territory with mass-market appeal.
Project CARS 3 isn’t a bad game, it’s just too much of a change from the type of game fans have come to expect from the series.
This new entry with Project Cars has given the series an identity crisis, and where the developers could have taken their existing learning and delivered the previous Project Cars vision to an all-new degree, instead we've got the team effectively starting from scratch again.
Project CARS 3 may be the best entry game for beginners. The easiness in embracing new players left the game with a more arcade or semi-simulator style. Hardcore players need to dig deeper to get the simulation experience from previous games, but it's still possible to find it. It won't be a perfect title anywhere, but the reimagining career mode and creating a good online environment can provide fun for anyone interested in the game.

The previous entries in the Project CARS series catered completely towards the sim racer and the decision to break away from that is both strange and bold. Not only has the series abandoned its roots, it doesn't seem to acknowledge them, either, with the team stating this is still a sim gaming. It's not, though - at all. However, that's not a bad thing for the casual fans. The result is a brand new, arcade racer that wider audiences can truly enjoy. Slightly Mad Studios has crafted a fast, frantic, and enjoyable arcade experience. The new cars feel individual and there's plenty of incentive to replay challenges to get the career level increased and the career achievements completed. It's just a shame then, that there's a key part that so negatively impacts the whole experience of Project CARS 3, and that is the grind. It regularly makes things so much worse and it seems like such a quick thing to fix - just increase the money paid out. Make it retrospective for those who have already invested so much time and this will instantly address the biggest issue.
Project CARS 3 is good, but not good enough to compete with the likes of GRiD or Forza Horizon. The path chosen by Slightly Mad studios for the third version of the game is full bumps that divert the whole series from being pioneers of the semi-simulation genre to an average racing game.

Project CARS 3 may not be the best game in the series but it's definitely the best Racing game of 2020. Being an arcade game might not match the taste of realistic gameplay fans, but the vast majority of Racing fans, can enjoy Project CARS 3 a lot with its smooth gameplay.

As the existing fans look on with shock, Project Cars 3 decides to make a franchise U-turn. It doesn't cause any huge accidents and merges into the new lane with decent grace, but it's already trailing the pack of other arcade racing games, leaving many to wonder if it was worth doing.
A fun, casual arcade racer that has a decent chunk of a career mode to keep you busy with some fun aspects, let down by wonky AI and being placed into the wrong series of games making it really hard to recommend to either demographic of casual race fans or sim racers.
While some might balk at the fact that Project Cars 3 is designed to be accessible, under the hood is the same bone-grindingly difficult racing sim that the series has always been.
