Certianly it's great to see an all time classic enshrined and restored for modern day use. Additionally it opens up the game to exclusively console players that never played the original Diablo 2 on PC. There's no denying its significance in gaming history, and looks wonderfully sharp in 4k, but the age of the source code is evident. Diablo faithfuls will get a great nostalgic kick on the clunky ever-grind that is Diablo 2: Resurrected, but it would be a difficult recommendation for any series newcomers.

Diablo 2: Resurrected remains one of the best action RPGs of all time. It may be a bit clunkier than I remember it to be, but not offputtingly so, and once you’ve taken your first steps and started developing your character of choice, it’s hard to not be totally consumed by the game’s dark world and all that it offers. Diablo 2 is back, and until Diablo 4 emerges from the bowels of hell, it’ll do just nicely. Though I’ll probably be playing it beyond that, too.

If you enjoyed the original Diablo or Diablo II when it first came out… this is a great way to play it on a modern system without having to jump into a DOS box or wrestle with other settings to get it to work. If you like the idea of a loot clicker then grab a copy because this is a great example of it.

The atmosphere of the game is still crazy even if the narration has taken a little old. We can say the same with the gameplay, which has hardly moved one iota: it is still as nervous, catchy, devilishly catchy, but at the cost of a sometimes old-fashioned ergonomics. Nevertheless, we do not shy away from our pleasure to replay this legend in conditions much more in line with what is done in 2021!

"Old but not obsolete", as the Terminator used to tell us. And if it works for him, it works perfectly to sum up what Diablo II: Resurrected has to offer. The classic Diablo II but not the version with more than twenty years behind it, but the construct of years and patches to expand and improve it, with a simply exquisite layer of varnish. A huge job in its time and years of evolution, although it does not reach the benefits and options that the genre that practically inaugurated this saga has been following, and other edges such as post-game or online themes. But there is residue, a lot of residue, and good. Diablo II continues to be played sickly well, on top of that well adapted to the pad and consoles, with an exquisite visual setting. LONG LIVE DEVIL!

Diablo II: Resurrected brings back, 21 years later, all the best qualities of one of the greatest classics of all time, the one that set the standards for the genre. While updating artistic issues to today's standards, it retains the essence of both gameplay and design, and even after all this time, it is still amazing.

If you don't run afoul of the game's technical and server-related issues, you'll find Diablo II: Resurrected to be a good version of the classic action RPG. For those who have played with the 2000 PC classic countless times, this is a like-for-like copy of that title, only with a few more accessibility options and a new lick of paint so it blends in with modern releases. For those who are new to the game or are more familiar with Diablo III, keyboard and mouse players will feel limited, while the lack of modern quality-of-life amenities can dampen the excitement for the title. Either way, once everything clears up, Diablo II can become a great addition to any ARPG library, and if you're one who pays attention to the review score, you can bump up the number when the fixes roll in.

Diablo II: Resurrected seemingly accomplishes what it set out to do. It’s a terrific way to introduce one of the best video games ever made to a whole new generation of audiences. The music, the locations, the builds, the memories, they all came flooding back as I put more and more time into this game. It reminded me a lot of when times were simpler in life. Diablo II: Resurrected may not quite be exactly like the original, but it’s so damn close you’ll hardly notice the difference. It’s like a getting warm hug from an old friend you haven’t seen in a long long time.

You can't fault the craft of this painstaking remaster, and the game itself still has an ornery magnetism - but Diablo 2 is showing its age.

Diablo II remains a legendary video game for a reason, and Resurrected, minus its server and general Internet issues, manages to improve on the formula while adding some worthwhile cosmetic changes that ushers in new fans and laying out the welcome wagon for fans of the series that are looking to revisit the dark franchise.

The game being a remarkable remastering, mainly thanks to its fantastic graphic and artistic design, it doesn't feel as fresh as it should. In fact, many players who try to start the saga will hit a wall in their gameplay, which will cause more than one to get off the ship and wait for their fourth installment

A masterpiece that comes back to us just as we wanted it, being exactly the same, but looking better.

Diablo II remains untouched from its original release outside of new graphics and quality of life changes, but that's mostly not a problem. It was ahead of its time back in 2000, and it's barely behind over twenty years later.

Despite over 20 years on the neck, Diablo II is a regular classic whose gameplay continues to this day. However, this does not make the graphics, which makes it fitting that this restoration lovingly repaints the exterior but leaves most of the inside intact. However, some parts would have been fine with a modernization, and the forced online requirement of unstable services can create great frustration.

Diablo II is not a walk in the park, as it encourages grinding, it’s very punishing when you die, and it doesn’t hold your hand. But if you manage to get past this, it’s still one of the most important titles in the series, making Diablo II: Resurrected a must-buy for old-time fans.

So it's a very, very good remaster (remake? It's unclear when this much has been done over), then, of a rather old loot game that has had many subsequent iterations from other developers. Is it worth going back to Diablo 2, ultimately, when games that we'd argue are somewhat superior - Titan Quest, the sadly PC-only Grim Dawn... even (controversially, yes) its own sequel in Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition, which packs in brilliant local co-op that Diablo 2 entirely (and understandably, given its framework) lacks. As good as Diablo 2 is, it's an unfortunate fact that on console we'd rather play its follow-up, which felt more tailored to the joypad experience. Diablo 2 is a PC game that has been (brilliantly!) transferred to PS5, but it's still a little held back by its origins.

Diablo II Resurrected required far more than a new coat of paint to be a better game on today's platforms, but it is still a must-play classic.
