Tales of Arise captivates players from the very first minute. I was particularly taken with the cutscenes and the soundtrack. Personally, I found very long sessions tiring, because there isn't that much action, where you have to be very attentive, like in a shooter. But that's very subjective and doesn't have to be the case for everyone. The video game is definitely not only a recommendation for connoisseurs, but also suitable for complete newcomers. Once you have completed the first 10 hours, Tales of Arise gets really interesting. The beginning actually drags a bit, but it's not boring either. The combat system is easy to learn and the skill tree is self-explanatory. During matches it can get confusing, but with a few good combos you can manage that. If the enemies become too easy, your comrades will complain and you won't need to farm anymore. All in all, Tales of Arise remains a clear buy recommendation, even though only English and Japanese are supported. You don't need any prior knowledge of the Tales series and can jump right in.

For a series that has been around for 30+ years, [Tales of Arise] should have at least taken cues from older JRPGs and just do with a major overhaul and shaking up. As it stands, JRPG fans will just have to settle with an alright-if-not-that-perfect experience.

With a plethora of fantastic characters, an intriguing story, and a graphical refresh, Tales of Arise has taken my list of memorable games by storm. In the face of a JRPG market drought, reaching for the latest title from Bandai Namco Studios seems only natural. Especially now that it's been five years since the release of the previous game in the series and the changes made in this installment being a spectacular step forward in the development of the brand.

Tales of Arise is an A-RPG introduces us to a story where Alphen, a slave, and Shionne, a woman with a terrible curse, must save the world from the tyrannical domain of the country of Rena. A fast-paced action game that will ask us to play over and over again until we finish it, where the artistic section is taken care of to the millimeter and the soundtrack does gives it the magnificence finish. A game that, saving small details, is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone who likes this type of game.

Tales of Arise made it out as one of the best games in the series. It's not perfect and suffers under a clumsy start and some generic sidequests and enemies. The exciting fights and features help that you go through with these small missteps.

Tales of Arise is without question a feast for anime lovers and Japano fans of the first hour. The JRPG unabashedly grinds out just about every cliché along the way, but is so wholesome and motivating that it's hard to stay mad at it. The stunning animations by Studio Ufotable are the big visual highlight here and should reconcile any skeptic who might not otherwise enjoy the picturesque graphic style. In general, Tales of Arise is quite traditional in its gameplay and lacks creativity in many parts, but there are no real slip-ups. Apart from the questionable monetization, we are left with a varied and sometimes epic adventure with a motivating gameplay loop and, last but not least, likeable characters.

This is the compilation of this franchise’s a quarter of the century history and what a ride it is. The story is more mature than ever and characters and the way their relationships are shaped throughout the narrative is as good as it gets. The combat system can be very fun when you get the hang of it and the visuals are among the best of all times.

Tales of Arise is an exceptional story-driven action experience that carries over many staples of the series — an action-packed battle system, skits, crafting, and familiar names of abilities and items — for long-time fans, while newcomers will find an ideal starting point to dive into an iconic series.

Tales of Arise masterfully blends its elements to produce a truly captivating experience. It’s surprisingly turned out to be my favorite in the franchise thus far. It may be lacking the multiplayer of its predecessors, but that doesn’t diminish the overall journey. As the first Tales game of the new generation, we’re already off to a fantastic start.

Tales of Arise is unequivocally one of the greatest JRPG’s, ever. A tantalising continuance of a once drawn out franchise, that was in steep decline but has been reborn though this triumphant reclamation. [...] A crowning achievement in Japanese role-playing that sinks its sharp hooks in, with great appeal from beginning to end. Tales of Arise is unmissable.

We have before us a more adult game than the previous ones but that preserves the essence of the franchise. It's fast, direct, fun and it's a real challenge if we go up the difficulty. The graphic change suits him wonderfully but he sins of leaving the world empty. Even so, the story, the weight of the protagonists and the combat will make you drool and get hooked, a lot, to the game.

In short, Tales of Arise feels satisfying. It’s gorgeous to look at and the battles fun to experience. Especially since you sometimes do get that “Ah ha!” moment when the right sort of Boost Attack or Strike comes up.

Tales of Arise delivers a fresh start with new heroes and a world that feels all too familiar. The story of an oppressed people living in a land divided into five parts, that need to be liberated isn't quite original, but Arise does offer a streamlined experience that can be highly tailored. Those that want to, can delve into the lore, while others can happily skip that entirely. The same applies to combat, which can be tailored to the player's desire, from (semi)automatic to manual and challenging.

Tales of Arise is full of heart and energy, and isn’t afraid to stumble along with its characters as it explores complicated subjects. It’s messy in a way that feels realistic, despite all the monsters, magic powers and ridiculous outfits.
