Bright Memory: Infinite is a short but fun big dumb action game. It doesn’t have much if anything in the way of replayability, but it feels pretty good, looks great, and as long as the price isn’t too bad it’s worth checking out. Not only for the solid, overpowered feeling action, but it’s one hell of a weird-assed ride that I was glad to experience.

Bright Memory: Infinite is negatively affected by a very limited longevity and a marked underlying linearity, but the combat system and the graphic sector significantly rebalance the situation.

Bright Memory: Infinite is a goofy, fun romp through a wild adventure involving an evil military association, time warping, and ancient gods and demons.

Bright Memory: Infinite is a tech demo full of potential, with amazing gameplay and visuals. At a highly acceptable price, this frenetic experience even without narrative substance, delivers a constant action that will leave you at least 1.5 hours clinging to the screen eliminating everything that moves.

Created by indie developer FYQD-Studio, Bright Memory made its debut back in 2019 as part of Steam’s Early Access program. Originally released as Bright Memory Episode 1, the indie first-person shooter received great reviews, and to this day holds a 91% approval rating on Steam. Instead of releasing the planned Bright Memory Episode 2, FYQD-STUDIO have instead completed the game, and rebranded it under the new name of, Bright Memory: Infinite.

Bright Memory: Infinite is a wonderfully slick FPS set in a dank, futuristic world. You must explore some real-to-life locations as you uncover an array of long-forgotten secrets. Though the core gameplay isn't so long, there are various play styles to undertake that add to the replay value and longevity.

Bright Memory: Infinite looks like a high quality demo. The qualities are there: visuals, gameplay, variety of mechanics, fun and challenge. The problem is that it lacks content, either through a more robust and well-explained campaign, or through secondary game modes.

Bright Memory: Infinite is an interesting production primarily thanks to its combat system, which successfully mixes firearms, melee attacks and the use of powers, aided by an undoubtedly powerful visuals, albeit in a linear and static world. The rambling and quickly forgettable story and the extreme brevity of the experience, though, don't make it easily recommendable to everyone.

Bright Memory: Infinite Platinum Edition is a great game. I loved the time I spent in the combat, but the story was flat, there was no reason for me to get invested in the world as you’re just thrown into sheer chaos with no build-up or any reason to care. However, the game has some very solid combat mechanics that utilizes the 3 things gamers love – guns, swords, and a robotic arm. Adding in a few advanced elements to the game like a dash attack to dodge attacks and a parry system, the game is able to hold its own ground with great admiration.

The development of a single person has resulted in this title that mixes the unbridled action of hack and slash with first-person shooters. It is a technically stunning game whose only downside is its extremely short length.

Less a sum of its parts, Bright Memory: Infinite depends heavily on its action and visual quality without delivering a complete experience entirely worthy of the hype.

Still, with its impressive visuals and non-stop action, Bright Memory: Infinite is worth a look for those who value thrills over playing time. Beyond multiple difficulty levels there’s not much reason to spend more time it, and that’s a real shame as we’d love to get into more scrapes as the capable Shelia, despite her awful name.

Anything more that comes out the experience in Bright Memory: Infinite is purely up to you mastering it. Learning stages and how to beat enemies quickly and efficiently is a rewarding experience in and of itself. Simply put, I would recommend this game but almost hesitantly.

While Bright Memory: Infinite is the best-looking game I’ve played all year, it’s not the best executed one; but as a product of a one-person team, it is an impressive feat.

Obviously, this is just the beginning of a long journey, and for the first game from a very tiny studio it's a huge success. The enthusiasts did what the players asked for. One can only guess what fate awaits the FYQD studio, but I would not be surprised if in 10 years Bright Memory becomes a huge franchise under the wing of a major publisher.

Bright Memory: Infinite suffers when it strays from its amazing gun and melee combat, faulting the otherwise frantic pace of the game with slower sections that feel included for the sake of adding something different.

Despite all my problems with Infinite, it’s a game made by a single developer (for the most part) that was amazing looking enough that Xbox wanted to tie it to its then next-gen, now current-gen console. While Infinite isn’t available on Xbox Series yet, it will be, and on PC has some amazing visuals that are worthy of your attention.

Despite being a jack of all trade (and master of none), Bright Memory: Infinite is still a game both frantic and visually impressive, but it's also very short. Maybe too short.

In the end, Bright Memory: Infinite feels like an advert for a much larger, much more ambitious game and the price tag (around $15 or so), reflects that. Bright Memory: Infinite both absolutely looks and plays the part of a furiously assured shooter with resoundingly empowering combat, it's just a shame that the relatively emaciated amount of content that surrounds its otherwise excellent core makes Bright Memory: Infinite feel much more like a taster for something more ambitious to come rather than anything else.

Bright Memory: Infinite is a promising new entry from a small studio, with visuals and a gameplay loop that give it the opportunity to sit alongside some of the heavy hitters in the genre. While it's lacking in a few elements that could carry it through to greatness, it's also dripping with potential and could be the start of a successful franchise if FYQD-Studio polishes some of the game's foibles. All-in-all, it's a short romp through action-focused levels that's sure to offer any FPS fan a burst of fun and have them feeling like a killing machine in the process.
