A love letter to where it came from and an advancement of its best ideas into something bigger, more cohesive, and infinitely more fun.

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected is a middling port that mixes thoroughly entertaining gameplay with the odd technical issue, including an imperfect frame rate. Those who love the series and can overlook the odd issue should still pick it up, but technophiles will likely want to stay clear.

If you've already played Saints Row IV, Deep Silver was clever in their release, and are offering a bundle with Gat Out of Hell. Unfortunately, this review isn't for the full combo with Gat, and by itself, Saints Row IV Re-Elected doesn't fully justify its campaigning for another term.  If it's your first time in office, however, then this is a great opportunity to jump in and take part in what is a pretty awesome open world super-powered (anti)hero game.

Saints Row IV is a farce about gangs running government and alien invasions, but its also a smart, ridiculously fun statement on one game developer's journey.

Saints Row IV Re-Elected brings another Saints Row adventure to the Switch, and it honestly does hold up for the most part. So step up to the Presidency…and go kick some alien butt!

Saints Row IV: Re-elected may score low in terms of its visual overhaul, but the game's ability to amuse and thrill is undiminished. This is a riotous experience that prioritises fun over everything else and thanks to the generosity of Volition it's bigger than ever, with five extra hours of gameplay in the form of previously-released DLC and the brand new Gat Out of Hell expansion. Not played Saints Row in a while? Give this one a bash.

There are times when Saints Row IV feels like the greatest super hero game ever made and there are times when it feels paralyzed by all of its power. Even when Saints Row IV retreats into molds it's perfectly equipped to destroy, it's always operating under the some of the most ridiculous and hilarious context seen in a videogame. Humor sharpens Saints Row IV's experience, though it won't stop you from wondering of what it could have been with a bit more focus.

The biggest take away from this Nintendo Switch port of Saints Row IV is the words "outright fun". The fun is enhanced with a chock full of humour, sometimes a bit lewd, and memorable laugh-out-loud scenarios, encounters and moments. Mix in some RPG elements that include fun "superpowers" and you have a game even fans new to the Saints Row franchise can enjoy! It's well worth the price tag of $39.99 USD!

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected is a logical continuation for such a nonsensical series. Despite some issues with mission structure and some signs of age, this is still a very good superpowered thrill ride of presidential proportions.

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected is crude, violent, vulgar, offensive, and extremely fun to play. It is absolutely over-the-top in all of the right ways and is sure to provide you with countless hours of hilarious, explosive action. Grab yourself a copy and kill some aliens, blow some stuff up, and save the whole damn planet.

The bullet comedy extravaganza action game from Volition returns on Switch. It's old and a little bit messy, but you're probably going to love it anyway.

Taking a bizarre concept and cranking it up to eleven, Saints Row IV is still one of the best open-world games ever made, a landmark in creative freedom unbound by the narrow halls of logic or coherence. Delivering a near-endless supply of side-content and addictive combat, Saints Row IV is ridiculously easy to recommend, but Re-Elected's limited enhancements and unwelcome technical issues keep this version from being the definitive version that it should be.

However if you walk into this as purely a bonus round of overindulgent action to the original Saints Row IV, then you won't be disappointed. Although you might still feel a bit short-changed with the mediocre transition across to the PS4.

On the whole, there ARE performance gains in the move from the PS3 to the PS4, especially in the framerate department, but it's obvious that this hasn't been optimized. Compared to the work done for Grand Theft Auto V, with its new content, new view point and meticulously optimized performance, the work on Saints Row IV feels less accomplished.

Although still fun, there is no denying that this is still largely a carbon copy of the original.

So to sum it all up, if you are a fan of the series and feel like you need to get your jollies by picking it up for some giggles on your new PS4 or Xbox One, it's familiar enough to be fun but it feels just like the last gen version. The gameplay is still there. The signature smart-assery is still there. And all the characters you have grown to love or hate have nearly all returned for this crazy alien-killing campaign. But sadly, this update wasn't really much of an update, other than the fact that you can now play this game on the PS4 and Xbox One. The graphics feel last-gen, the addition of voice commands doesn't really even warrant mentioning, and overall it still felt like I was playing the exact same game from the last gen systems. So if you still have your PS3 or XB360, keep playing SRIV on those systems. It's just not worth the price of buying it again just to play the same game on your PS4 or Xbox One.

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected might be the developer's attempt trying to do something new while doing it under the guise of a popular brand name.

While Saints Row IV Reelected is a better installment than Saints Row: The Third, the reality is that both games still run poorly on Nintendo Switch. Despite this, this port maintains the essence that has allowed Saints Row to survive and if you are willing to deal with the negative aspects, it may represent an interesting option to carry around on your Switch.

Aside from a less than stellar control system for combat, there's very little negative to be said about Saints Row IV: Re-Elected.
