Deamonhunters had some big shoes to fill given how the original Chaos Gate was not just a fond memory, but also a formative game from my childhood. Did it make the cut? Yes, it's precisely what I expected it to be, and I'm happy that it finally made its way to consoles. Some minor camera-related gripes aside, the game looks, sounds and plays great. Many-a-demons were slain in the last few days and I can now rest easy knowing that the galaxy is a little bit safer... at least until the DLC hits console storefronts. For the Emperor!
Despite its initial glitches and issues, Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate - Daemon Hunters is a challenging game with many unique mechanics that sets it apart from other turn based tactical RPGs, all while having a challenging yet compelling difficulty. This makes it a game that we recommend highly to big Warhammer 40k fans.
Daemonhunters doesn't just live up to the expectations, but is one of the best tactical games out there.

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is an impressive strategy title. With gorgeous graphics, a robust story, and engaging strategy gameplay, its single-player campaign will be a joy to play for strategy fans. The game may have some missteps, but the number of missions and additional ways to upgrade the Baleful Edict keep things interesting for seasoned strategy veterans and newbies alike.
Warhammer 40K: Chaosgate - Daemonhunters is a prime example of the Warhammer license meeting a genre it's absolutely built for.

Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters is not only an engaging turn-based strategy game, but one of the best translations of the 40K universe to the PC. With a great story and wealth of options in combat, Daemonhunters also captures the visual aesthetics of the Space Marines and infectious Nurgle. While the interface and some systems could benefit from a bit more elegance and simplicity, Daemonhunters is dramatic, over-the-top, amusing and deeply satisfying. Learning its systems and sticking with the lengthy campaign is a commitment to be sure, but one that fans of 40K should be happy to make.
Happy endings are not exactly a theme in the 40K universe but it looks like the process of delivering this game had one. Complex Games successfully worked through the pressure to deliver an unforgettable Grey Knight escapade and provided 40K fans with another game in the "Good" column.
Daemonhunters isn't just one of the best W40K games of recent years, but also one of the most solid tactical strategy games ever.

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is one of the best Warhammer games I played in a very long time. Although it’s not perfect, the character classes and mechanics are even deeper than what we’ve been taking as the standard, XCOM. The strategic layer is much more evolved than any similar turn-based game thanks to the addition of random events and the choices you have to make throughout the campaign.
Suffice it to say though, Warhammer 40k: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is a fantastic video game, a game of the year contender, that demands attention in a genre that is now synonymous with XCOM. Daemonhunters’ twist on the formula is unique, and the 40k setting is the perfect backdrop for this kind of game. I look forward to further entries in what I hope is a burgeoning new series, and whatever it is Complex Games works on next.
Where so many games in the Warhammer universe feel generic and uninspired, Daemonhunters manages to give us a game with tight tactical combat, a decent story, and a careful balance that is challenging but not punishing. The Emperor demands you pick up this game!

A deep and riveting turn-based tactics game, Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters embraces the mayhem to create one of the most thrilling strategy epics of recent years.
While there’s enough tactical depth and customization to sustain a playthrough, much of Daemonhunters’ battles feel like vehicles for getting across its great story, and not the other way around. For many, XCOM is as much about the long journey — failures and do-overs included — as it is the destination. And while I don’t think Daemonhunters offers that same kind of obsessive replayability, it does lay a crunchy, thrilling tactical base for its brazen aesthetic and brilliant story to tread upon.
A brutal but graceful and comprehensible mix of ideas from Warhammer, XCOM and Gears Tactics.
