Octopath Traveler II is a solid JRPG that shines beyond its nostalgic tricks. With fantastic storytelling, beautiful visuals, an exceptional soundtrack, and engaging combat mechanics, the game delivers 8 memorable journeys. While it stays in line with its predecessor, Team Asano and Acquire understood the areas of improvement and worked to deliver a great experience

Octopath Traveler II’s core strength is its characters, and this bunch of eight heroes are some of the finest you’ll find in the genre. There’s a real emotional rollercoaster built into the way you’ll experience their stories stacked on top of one another, and it’s backed by some amazing worldbuilding, a slick and strategic combat system, and, of course, those stunning HD-2D aesthetics. The original was already exceptional. This is even better.
Octopath Traveler II is a case of, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Almost everything is very similar to the first game, but there's more content, and the features are smoother. There are a number of areas where the developers clearly had more confidence than they had in the original Octopath. I loved the first game, and I found the second to be a more enjoyable experience in pretty much every way. It's a charming, delightful, and incredibly fun JRPG experience that fans of old-school RPGs should relish.
Octopath Traveler II is an excelent example of how to release a classic JRPG with a modern flair. Its engaging narrative and captivating characters by themselves already deliver a highly valuable title, but it is on the rich simplicity of its combat where it reaches an even higher bar. The small technical issues, excessive random encounters and simplistic character evolution system are the only complaints that can be made about a title that delights at every minute.

However, if you really enjoyed Octopath Traveler and want a better, improved version of the combat and overall exploration, Octopath Traveler II will deliver that in spades. This is a strong RPG that I enjoyed my time with, but it's not a bold new step forward. Instead, it moderately iterates on an enjoyable formula to good success.
Octopath Traveler 2 is made with love and care that can be felt by whoever decide to give this game a shot, from the breath taking 2D HD Pixel art to the legendary soundtrack and engaging combat mechanics. Square Enix gave us their first huge win this year with this legendary game

Octopath Traveler 2 is a sequel that pays heartfelt homage to the ’90s JRPGs cherished by many gamers. It successfully recreates the visual and auditory magic of that era while introducing some new gameplay elements. However, it also relies heavily on familiar tropes and recycles mechanics, which may disappoint those seeking a more innovative experience. The storytelling is a mixed bag, with some compelling character arcs overshadowed by the lack of a cohesive narrative thread. Nevertheless, for fans of classic JRPGs and those yearning for a nostalgic trip down memory lane, Octopath Traveler 2 offers a familiar, if somewhat conservative, journey into a beloved gaming era. With its strengths and weaknesses, it presents an opportunity for players to embark on a personal journey of exploration and nostalgia, forging their unique path through a world of pixelated wonder.
OCTOPATH TRAVELER II is a JRPG with a lack of direction in its story that's mostly saved by its fun job system and battle mechanics.
Octopath Traveler 2 is an incredible game that manages to expand on every aspect of the first game, the combat system is my favorite in a turn-based RPG, It has a huge range for customization and experimentation, the soundtrack is impeccable with several themes that stick in your head for years to come, all the characters were charismatic and their stories were memorable, the world was fun to explore and interact with its inhabitants, and the story gave a very satisfying conclusion to the journey of all the characters we followed, even with a very exciting epilogue for those who wanted to enjoy everything this adventure had to offer. Although it's still not perfect, Octopath Traveler 2 was certainly one of my favorite experiences not only with the JRPG genre, but with games in general.

If your expectations are for a game similar to the first chapter, with captivating graphics, stories, and turn-based gameplay, providing hours of entertainment, then Octopath Traveler II will certainly meet them. The additions of boost points for extra strategic turns and the day-night cycle with related gameplay changes are well-received, enriching an already solid gameplay experience. The game world is well-structured, visually appealing, and more cohesive than ever, thanks to the connections between characters and stories. Octopath Traveler II is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. If you're a fan of the genre, it's highly recommended.

Another step forward for the series that now rightfully belongs to the highest eschelon of modern jRPGs.
Octopath Traveler II proves that with the right number of updates to the classic formula, turn-based RPGs can still deliver a satisfying cinematic experience, even when the heroes are little pixelated baby-men.
Octopath Traveler 2 is a Game of the Year contender in my eyes: not only because it is an exceptional experience in its own right, but also because it does everything that a good sequel should do.
Although Octopath Traveler 2 is similar to the first installment, it does everything well and better as a JRPG. The developers have listened to the players, and what was missing before has found a place here. It is not a revolution, but it is still an excellent game.

"New heroes, same old paths."

Though a lack of character integration in core narratives does keep this title from masterpiece status, Octopath Traveler 2 is better than the original in every possible way. Improved combat, unforgettable characters, excellent narrative structure, gorgeous visuals, and a legendary soundtrack make this one of the best Square Enix titles in years. For fans of JRPGs, Octopath Traveler 2 is worth the price of admission and then some.
Despite the negatives and criticisms of the game, this is still one of the best RPGs you can currently play on the Nintendo Switch. The game looks beautiful, tells eight interesting stories with eight different heroes and play styles and is accompanied by a wonderful soundtrack. The world now rewards the player much more for exploring and the grinding has been made a little less painful in this title.

Octopath Traveler 2 is a fantastic follow up to the first Octopath game and an incredibly fun and rewarding JRPG adventure with a large but deep party of characters. It’s music will captivate you right from the start and it’s combat and job system provided plenty of room for individual customisation. It’s taken what worked in the original game and further advanced aspects as well as fixing up a number of the issues pointed out with the original game some fans didn’t particularly like to create a great adventure game, and one of my favourite JRPGs from recent years. It’s a long adventure, but it’s one well worth checking out.
Octopath Traveler 2's changes manage to uphold what made the first game enjoyable, while adding some new bells and whistles to make it feel like a step forward.
