Burning Shores is an excellent expansion; one that builds on the foundations laid by Forbidden West with a heavy focus on story that anchors its, gameplay, and world-building. It may falter at points, but is still a must-play piece of the Horizon story.‍

Guerrilla Games already proved once they could deliver a compelling expansion and they have done so again.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores often feels like one long side quest, but it attempts to fill some gaps left by the main game.

I wish there were more to say, but Horizon: Forbidden West – Burning Shores is a short piece of DLC. It's like a quick episode of a TV show rather than a full-length movie. There's still quite a bit of content here, but the intent of the DLC is largely to set up plot threads for Horizon 3 and give Aloy a chance for some romance. If you're hankering for more Horizon, it fills that niche well, but it doesn't feel as essential as The Frozen Wilds did to Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Horizon Forbidden West is another dose of goodness for those who can't get enough of it, but unfortunately it's too short.

Even with [some questionable boss fight designs] I still had a blast playing more Horizon Forbidden West thanks to this Burning Shores DLC. And I would go back again to uncover the rest of the map and handle the rest of the sidequests in this, well, sidequest DLC. Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores showcases more Aloy as she bonds with someone almost similar to her as well as her maturity given the past events in Forbidden West, features an awesome new territory to explore with more giant machines to take down and loot, and also teases what might come in the eventual Horizon 3.

Burning Shores' price of admission is practically worth it for the culminating boss fight alone. Although the expansion's pace doesn't allow for a steady crescendo to the climactic battle, it is hands down the most impressive and exhilarating set piece Horizon has accomplished thus far. Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores may be unfortunately short, but it's nonetheless sweet, and its technical accomplishments tantalizingly set high expectations for Guerrilla Games' third entry in the series.

Aloy's new journey after a year from the release is as enjoyable as the main one. While the newly added weapon provides more fresh, powerful gameplay, It is somewhat disappointing that the new area doesn't offer much difference from the mainland in visual wise.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is an all in all a good DLC that introduces a new story (although it does not give particularly noteworthy moments, apart from an 'unexpected evolution of Aloy), new missions, weapons and that above all improves even more the visual compartment, presenting itself even more impressive than it was already a year ago with the main chapter.

Ultimately, 'Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores' feels like a good tease. It flirts with the concept of some biggest things yet in this story but doesn’t quite commit to most of them in full. It’s always great getting to spend more time with Aloy, and while I wish a couple of things were explored further, it’s still a fun ride that hints at some of what is to come.

While it stumbles a bit near the end, the Burning Shores DLC is nonetheless another fantastic reason to step back into the shoes of our protagonist Aloy.

Burning Shores perfectly picks up the story after the events of Horizon Forbidden West. At twenty euros, the expansion is not even that expensive and can be completed fairly quickly. Los Angeles looks beautiful and story-wise it's pretty solid too. Now waiting for the latest part to appear, although that will take a while. Until then, keep flying around Burning Shores.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores stands out with key events that enhance the main story and graphics that make it more visually impressive. A "must play" DLC pack for anyone who loves the series.

The Burning Shores DLC is an epilogue add-on that’s filled with rich content that felt complete, as opposed to, say, a jumble of leftover parts. Though it only adds just a little more context to the base game’s conclusion, it’s still worth taking the ride if you want more of Horizon Forbidden West.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores may be more Horizon, but if that’s what you’re looking for, then you’ll be very happy with this new content. With an excellent story, interesting new characters, awesome new weapons, and enemies, as well as some of the most exciting sequences in the entire game, Burning Shores makes Forbidden West an even stronger experience than it already was.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is a pleasant surprise especially when it comes to the story, which sets up the plot well for the ending of the trilogy.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is one of those expansions you want to play. The expansion tells a great story, an epilogue to the second installment. You'll grow to like the characters very quickly, but in the case of Seika, you'll notice that the relationship she builds with Aloy is very rushed, resulting in vague dialogues.

Although Burning Shores is just a DLC with a gameplay length of only five or six hours, but its achievement in refreshing the graphical performance on consoles is commendable. For players who are more interested in the mechanics of the game, while its performance in areas such as boss battles may be a little lacking, the overall experience is still considered fresh and exhilarating. Not to mention that it further explores the core concept of 'cooperation' and adds to the lore of the game world itself.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores extends the tropical scenery of the main game and introduces the land of Hollywood to the story complete with a solid amount of content and upgrades which makes it a fine choice to lengthen your adventure with Aloy.
