While it occasionally buckles under its own ambition and the game falters somewhat as the plot ramps up, overall 'Final Fantasy XV' is a beautiful, exciting game that I dearly loved. It may not be the best game I've played this year, but it is almost certainly my favorite, and Square Enix has built an incredible, extremely unique open-world. While I'm not sure I want 'FFXVI' to follow suit and be an open-world like this one, I'd absolutely love to see them expand upon some of the ideas presented here in future. A remarkable return to form for a franchise that many felt had lost its way.

Final Fantasy XV has a ton of surprises for you. We have been waiting a very long time for this game, but now that the wait is finally over, I can certainly say it was worth it. There are many things to do in a game with gorgeous environments, massive monsters and a ton of side-quests, so I'm sure you're going to love this one.

It's difficult to judge Final Fantasy XV. It bears all the scars of troubled development, and it has a list of nagging issues a mile long, but it's more than the sum of its parts. It's fun to play and has plenty of charming and likeable moments that balance out the frustrating time-wasting elements and weak plot. FF15 is a solid entry into the franchise and is as accessible to newcomers as it is to longtime fans. It might have some rough patches, but FF15 shows that it cares about the most important thing of all: fun.

This game alone catapults Square Enix's most important franchise right back into the circle of most elite properties in gaming, proves that AAA games can be intelligent and meaningful, and deserves every plaudit and accolade out there.

The flaws are kind minor and it was partly my fault why the game crashed because I didn't bother to save for a very, very long time. In a nutshell, Final Fantasy XV brought home the bacon for me. It really delivered (and exceeded) my expectations. This game's definitely a keeper.

Final Fantasy XV no doubt has its issues and it’s far from perfect but it is one of the most enjoyable games of the year. The game opens with the statement “A Final Fantasy for fans and first-timers” and this could not be truer. The much needed and natural change in gameplay should definitely attract new players and fans alike. The planned updates should give players a sense of ease with regards to how well the game will be supported in the future. It should also give players even more reason to return after they have completed it. Give the sheer amount of content packed into the game is definitely a worthy investment and will keep you entertained for many, many hours.

Final Fantasy XV is a good but different game, although it maintains part of its essence, it loses another. The story is fine but is overshadowed by the gameplay. So the game is correct but it leaves you with a bittersweet feeling of what could have been better and failed.

Final Fantasy XV is, in essence, a trip down memory lane and a glimpse at how the present smiles upon present RPGs. This entry marks a triumphal return for the franchise in every magnitude of the word. This is without a doubt the best campaign Final Fantasy has had in decades. Square Enix showcase its new crown jewel with an intriguing story full of epic moments, characters so well-crafted that are immediately relatable, a spectacular open world full of life, an embracing and nostalgia evoking soundtrack, all framed within an immeasurable brotherhood that stays memorable not only to Final Fantasy as a franchise, but also raises the bar among the RPG world. All we have left to say is: Noctis, we are with you!

Despite the shortcomings of the game, when it gets it right it really gets it right. The main story is nowhere near as interesting as finding out about Noctis, Prompto, Ignis and Gladioulus as you slowly progress through the world. The building of the characters and their silly conversations will last longer in your memory than most of the main story beats. The combat is slick and fun, the dungeons are some of the best ever in a Final Fantasy game and the graphics are lovely. It will be interesting to see how Final Fantasy XV evolves over the next year through DLC and patches. For now though it is a lovely experience. Warts and all.

[A]t the end of the day, this is a game that borrows so heavily from other games that it's entirely bereft of originality or creativity. That's not the same thing as being bad, of course, but Final Fantasy 15 takes so many cues from other games that it lacks any kind of individual identity, and considering how many games have done the same things better, you're best off just playing those instead.

Das neueste Final Fantasy ist trotz kleinerer Schwächen jedem Fan der Serie zu empfehlen - sofern man sich mit einem Kampfsystem in Echtzeit anfreunden kann.

Let's get the obvious question out of the way – was Final Fantasy XV worth the wait? Honestly, from the jumbled storyline it seems the project has to have been changed, re-jigged, and re-thought so many times that I doubt whether the final product resembles the original concept fans were waiting for all this time. What the game is ultimately, is Square-Enix's response to more modern open-world RPG's and bringing Final Fantasy up to speed to play in that space.

Ultimately my time with Final Fantasy XV was spent chasing the very few highs I found among a lot of mediocrity and poor design choices. Realistically, nobody ever enjoys filling their petrol tank, ever. And it’s this obvious lack of thought in design choice that rings true with large sections of Final Fantasy XV, I just failed to see the point in it all.
