A whimsical and charming adventure, LittleBigPlanet 3 makes a few welcome changes to the core game; namely new characters and new powerups four our old knitted chum, Sackboy. With an even more robust set of creation tools, it's a game of limitless possibilities.

Nevertheless, these new elements have been seamlessly integrated into the recognizable LittleBigPlanet foundation, and as a consequence never feel like the source of drastic change. What they offer instead is rejuvenation: a jolt of exhilaration—of imagination—from a series whose novelty had perhaps begun to wane.

LittleBigPlanet 3 is a worthy successor to the LBP series and a solid continuation of what made the first and second games such a hit with critics and gamers alike. But even with its new content, including three unique and playable characters, new story missions and updated 1080p graphics, I was left underwhelmed and wishing for more innovation. It's a great game, but it failed to meet my tremendous expectations first generated from the wildly entertaining and innovative original.

Without these problems, I'd have no hesitation in saying this is the best LittleBigPlanet game to date. The deeper integration of creative elements into the story is a big plus, as is the superior level design, and the new characters are very welcome, even if they're ultimately underused. But in its current state, it's hard to recommend without some serious caveats. Held together by Sellotape rather than superglue, LittleBigPlanet 3 is in constant danger of falling apart.

It's more interested in showing off just how beautiful (and deep) the multilayered design runs than it is in really elaborating on it

It seems disappointing that new developer Sumo Digital didn't take the time to really make this a definitive LittleBigPlanet entry. Long loading times and slightly restrictive campaign levels are holding LittleBigPlanet 3 back from being a fantastic game for players of all ages. Co-op is still as enjoyable as it always has been, but there's not enough of it in the base game for you to appreciate all the characters.

The laughs and feelings of awe that LBP3 will cause are inescapable and honestly, is something you don't want to escape.

LBP3 reaches new highs for the series by delivering some of the best levels and gameplay yet seen, but also disappoints with a fleeting campaign.

The legacy of LittleBigPlanet lives on, serving as a bold statement that platforming doesn't need to be punishingly difficult or controversial to be fun or groundbreaking. With the challenge of bringing such a distinct franchise to a brand new platform while retaining all of the things that have made it great, including the hard work of the community, all things really were considered. We look forward to a bright future in the Imagisphere.

LittleBigPlanet 3 is a well-intentioned pastiche of different activities that is simultaneously too restrictive and too open-ended to achieve greatness.

LittleBigPlanet 3 is an endearing and charming game that will work its way into your heart thanks to its presentation and new characters. The end-game possibilities are endless thanks to the co-op, level creator and millions of community driven stages imported from past titles, but it's held back due to Sumo Digital's unwillingness to fully flesh out their ideas.

LittleBigPlanet 3 provides a fun and varied campaign and numerous meaningful additions to the series' level editor, but some technical hitches prevent it from being the true gem that it could've been.

Judging by its content alone, LittleBigPlanet 3 is easily the greatest value for your money this year. But beyond that, it's a fun, deep, and endlessly charming experience that has plenty of ways to entertain and amuse you. This is the PlayStation 4's first must-buy title.

LittleBigPlanet 3 was another good entry into the LBP series. I enjoyed the Adventure Mode even though it was way too short. I also enjoyed the use of new characters to play as, and their cool new abilities, but they are not used often enough, which felt like a big missed opportunity. Even though LBP3 comes with some problems it is still worth trying if you are a fan of the LBP series.

Sony's creativity suite returns, bursting with color, smiles, and cleaner platforming overall.

LittleBigPlanet 3 is a great creative experience packaged with an unfortunate single-player experience as its forward-facing section and buggy co-op play, both which significantly hamper what is otherwise an excellent creative experience and game-design as play.

With an almost staggering variety of new creation tools and a whole new training area designed to teach about them, LittleBigPlanet 3 is clearly a game with creators in mind. Those tools alone cannot justify the price of admission, though, and the package that accompanies them lacks the series' signature imagination.

LittleBigPlanet 3 is not a perfect by any means, and since it is a platformer at heart it may not appeal to those who are not a fan of that particular genre. However, it is a well-designed game that lacks some polish but at the same time presents a world of possibilities. The story itself might be a let down down, but so what? Make your own. The sense of community it can create and the way it allows collaboration and communication exceeds almost any other title out there and helps to create a fascinating collection of worlds that gamers of all ages can explore together.

Little Big Planet is a franchise that always makes me smile ear to ear. It's charming, fun, lighthearted and has a plethora of content to play and create. It's a shame that the experience of LBP 3 couldn't be a little more polished or the story mode just a little longer, because these are the only two blemishes on an otherwise excellent addition to the series.
