And that’s perhaps how best to sum up my experience with this remake of Brothers – something is off. It’s the same great game at its core, but as a remake, it doesn’t do enough to justify itself, given that its headline addition of co-op play strips away the original’s biggest selling point. Even when played solo, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’d rather be playing the original with its more fitting, painterly look. Having said that, Brothers is still a fantastic experience, and if this remake shines a spotlight on it again and attracts a new generation of gamers to Naia and Naiee’s touching tale, then that can only be a good thing. The story remains as poignant now as it did in 2013, and when enjoyed solo, Brothers continues to be a delight to engage with due to its novel dual protagonist set-up. On that basis, I’m glad this exists, even if, as an overall product and an attempt to reintroduce this world, it feels a touch misguided.
Despite technical hiccups, the remake of "Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons" emerges as a superior iteration of its predecessor, thanks to significant enhancements and robust performance in key areas such as story and narrative. The unique twin-stick approach to controlling characters feels as intuitive now as it did back then, the creative puzzles are still a treat to solve, whilst the world looks better than ever thanks to the facelift the remake has been given. And the storytelling? It’s still top notch and tells an emotional tale that’ll stick with you long after playing. It is a bit on the short side and the main characters’ faces look a little weird, but they’re minor issues in what is otherwise a wonderful and memorable experience.
Every beat of this game still lands, and the developer was right not to fix what wasn't broken in the first place, developing and refining the definitive version of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. If you have never experienced the game before, you owe it to yourself to strap in for an evening for a beautiful story that will drag you through a motley collection of emotions.

However, fans of the original will find little new here outside of a very nice coat of fresh paint and some easy to obtain achievement points.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake has polished up in some key areas like fluidity of movement and better animation, but has also taken a minor step back in distinguishing interactables from the environment. Even so, you owe it to yourself to experience the advent of Josef Fares’ cooperative game style, with Unreal Engine 5 graphics and a glorious reorchestrated soundtrack in tow.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake offers a modern take on a video game classic. Although the changes are few and far between, Avantgarden Games has shown great respect for the original game. The use of the new graphics engine makes it even easier to immerse yourself in this touching story, while marvelling at the scenery. The adventure remains fairly short, but the retail price is far from excessive. I particularly recommend the game for those who didn't have the chance to play it back then, or for those who wish to repeat the experience in co-op.

Brothers is a good remake of an overlooked gem of the 7th generation of consoles, boasting a graphical overhaul that completely transforms some of the areas, and some new little secrets make it worth the play for both new and old players alike, that said, some technical problems were a bummer.

"Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake" elevates the presentation and soundtrack of a true classic to a contemporary level, while also optimizing the precision of the controls and enemy behavior. The most important gameplay innovation compared to the original remains the two-player co-op mode, which, strictly speaking, already existed in the 2019 version of the Switch. If you already know the latter or have already played through the original, you will primarily pay for a nice technology upgrade. However, for those who are primarily interested in catching up on the original in a new guise, the remake is undoubtedly the best option at the moment.
