Overwatch Reviews
Overwatch is a masterpiece. A dizzying amalgam of unique characters, stunning style, and compellingly dynamic action.
Vibrant and endlessly entertaining. Whether you just want to play a few quick rounds or settle in for hours with friends, Overwatch delivers with polished panache
Overwatch may yet cool off and fall by the wayside at some point in the near future, but it sure seems like it's here for the long haul. Pretty much everything about this game feels fresh and exciting: the class-based combat, the art style, the roster, the modes. It's equal parts strategic and twitchy, encouraging you to think while also rewarding skill, and its roster is a delight. Overwatch may well be the best new multiplayer shooter to come along since Modern Warfare and Team Fortress 2 took 2007 by storm. I can't wait to play more.
Truly, I believe that we'll be seeing a lot more of Overwatch in the years to come. Blizzard has a great track record when it comes to long-term support, and given how good it is out of the gate, it can only get better from here. Blizzard has truly snatched victory from the draws of defeat.
It has been a very long time since I've felt this much passion for a game. Overwatch is a perfect storm. It's a new IP, looks gorgeous, plays phenomenally and singlehandedly rekindled my desire to play a genre of game I thought I'd left behind at this point.
Blizzard has made all the right noises about being committed to building on Overwatch, providing new heroes, maps and gametypes for free across the game's lifespan. With a tremendously successful start, there is no reason to believe this is a promise that won't be followed through on.
Blizzard's take on the team-based shooter is as polished as you'd expect, marrying tactical breadth with an emphasis on variety and inclusivity
Overwatch is a fast, fun, and fresh take on the class-based shooter. Blizzard has made sure its first new IP in 17 years is polished to perfection.
Overwatch is ready to join the likes of Quake and Team Fortress 2 in the pantheon of greats.
It's wacky, pretty, incredibly fun, and should be supported well by Blizzard for years to come. At launch, there's already so many things going so right, and Blizzard will only add to it.
With accessibility to spare, a real commitment to diversity and an infectious sense of innocent fun, Overwatch feels like an important game — the sort that can bridge boundaries in the oft-segmented gaming community. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that this may just be the project to revitalize lapsed or disheartened gamers' interest in the medium, or the one to bring new players onboard the FPS wagon.
Overwatch delivers an unprecedented amount of fun and excitement to a genre that desperately needed a shot in the arm. The charm and personality of the characters and environments only serve to enhance the game's pitch-perfect action and fine-tuned mechanics.
A stellar online experience that feels familiar yet still entirely new. It takes something that people have enjoyed for a number of years, appeals to fans of the online shooter genre whilst also adding a layer of inclusiveness to makes it fun for casual players too. And for a Blizzard release, what else could you ask for.
There's a great balance between depth and accessibility as well as the right amount of reliance on skill, and moments of magic that make Overwatch well worth playing. Combined with Blizzard's penchant for supporting games for longer than usual periods of time, make it one you should definitely check out.
Easily this summer's must play game, Overwatch has something for everyone.
Overwatch is a carefully curated ship in a bottle made from some of gaming's best new ideas.
Overwatch’s unique style and excellent gameplay is a refreshing take on the team FPS with a positive attitude and a fantastic multiplayer experience. For me, the new king of multiplayer FPS.
Overwatch is something special at this moment of time. A game that looks at modern gaming in the face and says "Screw You!!!". It is a game that remembers what gaming is about, it is inclusive without being condescending and allows for all types of player, at any level to get in and feel like equals.
By creating Overwatch, Blizzard showed that it never sacrifices the quality of its games for any other factor. Overwatch is an ideal combination of all elements that can turn a game into a masterpiece.
