Split Fiction is the perfect definition of love for video games. The creative spirit of Josef Fares and the Hazelight team sees in this new interaction a crystallisation that is bound to remain vivid in the minds of those who approach it. Despite the fact that some sections are more ‘naughty’ for those who are not into video games, the work published by EA Originals deserves to be started by any PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC owner.

Expectations were high after It Takes Two, but Hazelight shows that they really know what it means to create a cool co-op experience. The game is packed with diverse gameplay elements, cool visuals and an entertaining story. The big ambitions could have gone completely wrong, but the gamble pays off. This is the co-op game to play this year.

Split Fiction is another great addition to the Hazelight catalog—one that solidifies the studio as the paragon of co-op gameplay. If you thought It Takes Two was a fluke, think again. Split Fiction learns from its predecessor’s story missteps, doubles down on the great platforming, and deftly pays homage to gaming royalty. The result is Hazelight’s most creative game to date, and—in my humble opinion—its best.
Split Fiction proves that Hazelight Studios is one of the best studios out there today. This cooperative adventure is dynamic and surprising from start to finish, and knows how to exploit the narrative premise very well to create a gameplay that doesn't give you a break. Personally I put it a little bit behind It Takes Two, but it's one of the best of 2025, it will go for GOTY and you have to play it.

Split Fiction is a game that gets better as it progresses. At the beginning, sections bordered on overstaying their welcome, but as the journey unfolded, I quickly found myself not wanting to leave these worlds. Split Fiction was a perpetual flow of variety, challenge and pure fun accented by resonant story. Hazelight have solidified themselves as masters of the co-op adventure and Split Fiction is best in class.
For those who love cooperative games, storytelling-driven adventures, or just a fresh take on game design, Split Fiction is absolutely worth playing. It may not be perfect, but it’s an adventure you won’t soon forget.
Hazelight has nailed it once again with Split Fiction. I was hooked on the adventure from start to finish, full of fun, creative and impactful moments, all with impressive polish. Each new idea presented left me excited to continue and discover how far the game would go, always accompanied by impeccable graphics and sound. Split Fiction will stay with me for a long time, being one of those unique experiences that remind me why I love video games so much.

Jumping between sci-fi and fantasy worlds keeps things visually fresh, and no two levels play the same. The villain doesn’t leave much of an impact, and a few sections run longer than they should, but the co-op challenges and constant surprises make it an easy recommendation for anyone who loves teamwork-driven games.
