Blue Prince was an amazing puzzle/strategy that has me continuing to solve the mystery inside it. I love the clever ideas and puzzles that are either in your face or hidden away. Having me screenshot everything I come across to only use it when I feel like I have hit a wall is fun to me. It has scratched an itch that Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright left. I highly recommend this game to puzzle lovers and people who think RNG needs a good spanking after the abuse it put us through. I give Blue Prince the Thumb Culture Platinum Award.
Even if you aren’t a fan of roguelikes, Blue Prince feels much more like an elaborate puzzle box. There’s a satisfying feeling in making it further than you did before, finding clues to a puzzle, then stumbling onto another piece of that puzzle a few runs later. Blue Prince is certainly one of the most interesting games of this year. It takes a fairly novel concept in a roguelike puzzle game, adding elements of deckbuilding and base crafting. It all comes together for a gameplay experience unlike anything else out there today.
Blue Prince is a puzzle game for all time, and it deserves a place among the greats of the genre. Its design is masterful, its vision clear, and every moment spent within Mt. Holly Estate feels purposeful, crafted with care and a quiet confidence. I can easily see it becoming a touchstone for puzzle design in the years ahead.
Blue Prince is as peculiar of a game as its protagonist’s deceased relative. An odd puzzle/adventure game with progression and pacing that often get in the way of your success for the sole benefit of artificially keeping the journey going. If you do happen to resonate with it, you’ll find a good distraction to poke at for hours, one that’s best suited for multiple sittings and plenty of sleuthing both in and outside of it. It’s the type of thing you’ll have to sleep on and maybe might find the next solution, or just want to chuck your chosen gaming system out the closest window.

There has never been anything quite like “Blue Prince”. The game combines “Myst”, Escape Rooms, “The Crazy Labyrinth” and roguelike elements into a fascinating addictive package. Day by day, room by room, I delve deeper into the world of Mount Holly Mansion. Everything puzzle/roguelike-game that comes after it will have to measure up to this magnum opus.
