Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon Reviews
Being divorced from the Elder Scrolls and being able to do its own thing elevates Tainted Grail. It has more personality than being a generic medieval Tolkien-esque fantasy and combines elements from real-world history and myth to realize its twisted vision.
If you're craving dark fantasy and want to lose yourself in an open world, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon isn't a bad game at all. That is if you can accept that it's a rough, raw experience that often feels like something out of a decade ago.

Rated M for Mature action RPG inspired by the tale of King Arthur
Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon delivers an atmospheric open-world RPG inspired by Arthurian legends, combining elements of Skyrim and Kingdom Come with a darker tone. It features smart exploration, a flexible skill-based progression system, and a richly detailed world. However, inconsistent quality across performance, UI design, and unbalanced combat holds the experience back.

With an impressive RPG throwback core game and oodles of high quality physical extras, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon Collector's Edition offers one nostalgic package that any fan of dark fantasy role-playing will absolutely adore. 👑
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is a compelling, atmospheric RPG that punches above its weight in narrative ambition and gameplay depth. Unfortunately, the PlayStation 5 port of the game suffers from some extremely rough technical edges and UI frustrations, and needs a lot more time to bake in the oven. That being said, the game’s dark storytelling, rewarding exploration, and flexible combat might make it a worthwhile experience.
It’s easy to forgive a little jank, though, when the overall package is this impressive. Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is an epic RPG that aims high and that, much more often than not, succeeds in what it sets out to do.
If you’re willing to embrace its old-school charm and overlook some dated design choices, Tainted Grail offers a rewarding RPG experience in a fascinating setting. Come for the dark fantasy, stick around for the dash of Monty Python weirdness and all the fun adventures you wind up experiencing when you step off the beaten path.
"Broken, but unforgettable" Despite its clear technical flaws and unpolished combat, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon delivers a rare and emotionally impactful dark RPG experience. It’s a rough gem for fans of the genre. If not for its technical issues, the game could’ve truly shined in both form and substance.
