Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon Reviews
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon delivers a refreshingly dark and engaging RPG experience with a strong narrative, a reimagined take on familiar mechanics, and a world that feels both mythic and original. Fans of classic Bethesda titles who’ve been left cold by Oblivion Remastered should absolutely give this one a shot.
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is definitely a good RPG that draws inspiration mainly from Bethesda games and the aesthetics of Hidetaka Miyazaki's dark fantasy masterpieces. In the case of Questline's work, the Polish developers have drawn on Arthurian mythology to tell a coherent story where the division between good and evil is not as clear-cut as it might appear at first glance. It is clear that this is not a big production, and there are obvious technical limitations, but these are offset by high-quality art direction and a well-written plot.

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is a solid RPG capturing the spirit of The Elder Scrolls with a dark Arthurian twist. Despite technical issues and some rough edges, it offers an engaging story, fun combat, and a rich world worth exploring.
There are three expansive regions to explore, and just based on the first area alone, all RPG fans will find something they enjoy. For players to invest so much time in a game, you want it to be worth it, and this title delivers that, for the most part. If the performance issues were less glaring, this would undoubtedly be a better score.
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon offers a dark, unique take on Arthurian legend with strong storytelling and engaging combat, but frequent bugs and crashes make for a frustrating experience.

A deliciously old-fashioned open-world RPG, that harkens back to a seemingly bygone era of pure gaming fun.
It’s clear that The Fall of Avalon aims for Bethesda-level ambition without the resources to fully back it up. Still, beneath the rough edges lies a rich RPG experience that—when it works—keeps you engaged for hours.
I may have sounded overly harsh, but in reality, I actually enjoyed my time playing Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon IN SPITE of its many issues and bugs. It’s a fun world to explore, it’s an interesting lore to unveil, and, as previously mentioned, the story is actually really good. I can’t help but deeply respect a smaller team for coming up with what’s essentially their own take on The Elder Scrolls. That being said, those Bethesda RPGs have a certain charm and mojo that’s impossible to replicate.
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon delivers what it promises: a love letter to the Western RPGs that marked an era and the hearts of many fans. However, it is clear that, to break through the niche bubble and truly stand out (as its greatest influences once did), more polish is needed in fundamental aspects, such as performance and difficulty.

Not everyone is going to resonate with the creepier, darker tone, and the game’s technical state leaves much to be desired. However, those that do resonate with it will find an interesting, complex, intelligent narrative with the player being used both as a framing device and a driving force.
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is a dark fantasy open-world RPG inspired by Arthurian legend. With deep character builds, rich lore, and tactical combat, it's a must-play for RPG veterans-despite some technical flaws.

Despite some obvious influences, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon manages to be an excellent action RPG with an interesting, dark world to explore.
While dark fantasy open-world RPGs are nothing new, Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon is an ambitious open-world RPG that backs up its comparisons to the greats and is a worthy newcomer in a saturated market.
