Resident Evil Requiem is a pitch perfect love letter to fans of the series. Capcom has absolutely nailed the dual protagonist mechanic which sits at the core of a truly incredible piece of storytelling. The result is a must-play title for those both familiar and new to the series. Put simply, it’s an absolute tour de force.

Capcom has produced an absolute labour of love with Resident Evil Requiem and every ounce of the game is brimming with intricate detail that will both test and delight gamers at the same time. It's not often you get an experience where it leaves players truly hungry for more (brains?), but after scouring every nook and cranny, uncovering all the meticulously pieced together puzzles and hidden elements, before finally blasting through the final stages, after barely being able to get your breath back, there is a desire for more. The role switching and perspective shifting might sound daunting on paper, but has been expertly interweaved by the masterful hands of those at the helm. This is truly the pinnacle of the long-running survival horror series, and one that will be hard-pressed to match in the future, not merely for Capcom, but more so for its rivals in the genre. A true masterpiece of the current generation, without a doubt, taking the supreme legacy of the series and elevating it to new heights.

A Requiem is not a final, but a threshold. And as it crosses that threshold scented with nostalgia, it renews confidence and hope through the path it opens for the series' future. If only they hadn't forgotten the puzzles…

Resident Evil Requiem easily establishes itself as one of the best in the series. The bombastic action and terrifyingly intimate horror are at a fever pitch throughout, with a masterful switching between the two without ever feeling disjointed. This sort of experience can only be achieved through decades of trial, error and triumph, and Requiem shows a keen understanding of what has made the series great over the years - and what can take it to the next level. Polished, enjoyable and sure to put a cheesy grin on every face and shiver up every spine, this is a must-play survival horror title that never misses a step.

A phenomenal experience - with a UNIQUE storyline created by fans for fans of the series - that would be perfect if the boss fights were more memorable and there were simply more puzzles.

Resident Evil Requiem feels meticulously polished from nearly every angle. Its glossy surface shines through in disciplined combat design, immersive visual presentation, high-quality cinematic set pieces, and a well-paced moment-to-moment rhythm. Yet The campaign length cannot fully accommodate its two protagonists, leaving their mechanics underdeveloped and denying them the space needed for meaningful characterization and narrative progression. Compared to the two previous entries, Requiem achieves higher production standards and proves more consistently entertaining. However, despite its craft and polish, it ultimately stops short of being a defining or transformative chapter for the Resident Evil franchise.

Resident Evil Requiem confidently honours the franchise’s legacy by bringing Leon back into the spotlight while simultaneously laying the groundwork for its future with a compelling new character. Backed by a proven formula, a passionate fan base, and the ever-reliable RE Engine, the future of the Resident Evil franchise looks brighter than ever.

I thoroughly enjoyed each separate segment (except one) as discrete gameplay units and distinct slices of Resident Evil history. But as a coherent overall experience and statement of intent, Resident Evil Requiem is a mutated beast left to exsanguinate on the floor.

Resident Evil: Requiem is a solid but very disjointed game. It feels like two extremely fun games that don 't necessarily mix well together. There 's a lot of clever mechanics, effective scenes, and excellent combat mechanics that make it a ton of fun to play, but it also has a meandering and borderline nonsensical plot, drawn-out set pieces, and a lack of focus. At the end of the day, it 's absolutely worth checking out if you 're a Resident Evil fan because when it is hitting its mark, it 's one of the best games in the franchise. Even at its worst, it 's a case of wishing that it could've been more.

A masterful fusion of classic survival horror and high-intensity action, Resident Evil Requiem seamlessly blends Grace's methodical survival stealth with Leon's explosive combat into a cohesive vision that respects the franchise's legacy while boldly shaping its future. Capcom delivers an ambitious, meticulously crafted entry that reflects remarkable creative maturity, one that restores faith in truly exceptional survival horror in the modern era.

It can be seen as a celebration of the series as a whole, providing two wholly enjoyable yet different gameplay types, both of which are part of the series DNA. The question is will everyone enjoy both polar opposite gameplay modes in the same game?

Experienced veteran joins forces with a young FBI agent in a story that is sure to keep players on the edge of their seats. The two main characters offer two distinctly different types of gameplay. Survival, stealth, exploration and puzzles confront straightforward action.

With its dual-protagonist setup, Resident Evil Requiem caters to both those who love traditional survival horror as well as action horror. Throw in a fantastic range of truly terrifying enemies, including zombies that feel freakier than ever thanks to their unique behaviours, and you have one of the best Resident Evil games yet, especially for those who can appreciate both of its distinct gameplay styles.

Resident Evil Requiem is an excellent game, taking the best elements from the Resident Evil 2 and 4 remakes. The gameplay is great, the graphics are superb, and the atmosphere is outstanding. The only downsides are the bittersweet story and the lack of extra modes.

A heartbreaking tale of two games. The first half with Grace offers a tense, atmospheric survival horror experience that hints at a bright future for the franchise. However, the second half completely betrays that promise, descending into a chaotic mess of forced nostalgia, nonsensical retcons, and a disrespectful treatment of its new characters. While technically polished with solid gunplay and great visuals, Resident Evil Requiem is narratively bankrupt - a confused hybrid that sacrifices logic for cheap fanservice. A massive missed opportunity.

Resident Evil Requiem perfectly balances fresh blood with the classic essence of the series. Two protagonists with very different playable philosophies, but who complement each other to forge, together, a fantastic Resident Evil game.
