Yooka-Re-Playlee is platforming joy refined, re-tooled, and ready for new audiences and old-school fans alike. It’s not just the best way to experience Yooka’s adventure—it’s a love letter to everything that made 3D platformers the kings of the N64 era. While it narrowly misses the crown thanks to Astro Bot’s PS5 flourishes, it earns an easy 9 out of 10 for sheer fun, magic, and replayability. Grab your quills, warm up that cuppa, and prepare to jump headfirst into the best buddy adventure Playtonic has ever made.

Yooka-Replaylee is a solid platformer and an improved version compared to the original. That's great news for those who haven't played the original adventure, while everyone else would probably be happier with an entirely new game.

Yooka-Replaylee revisits its origins with care and purpose. Playtonic Games modernizes the 2017 platformer without losing its charm, refining controls, pacing, and accessibility while giving the series the polish it always deserved. A few imperfections remain — minor glitches, occasional camera quirks, and weaker Switch performance — but the overall result stands out as a thoughtful restoration rather than a simple upgrade. A bright, confident return that blends old-school charm with modern design sensibility.

Yooka-Echo is a good game, full of charm and finally polished as it should have been from the start. It's not perfect, but it manages to reconcile fans of the genre with the idea of a classic 3D platformer adapted to modern times.

Playtonic returns with Yooka-Replaylee, a full remake that tries to refine and re-energize the original. The result is a fascinating and exciting. Yooka-Replaylee doesn’t just polish the visuals it rewrites the flow of progression, overhauls its economy, and retools the controls to feel more modern. It is a big step forward and a reminder of why the genre remains so beloved to many.

The amount of content makes the game fairly worth the $30 price tag, but the gameplay and humor give it a nice bump. It’s not as good as the likes of Donkey Kong Bananza, but it’s still one of the best 3D platformers that I have played in the last few years.

Yooka-Replaylee is the game that Playtonic always wanted to make. It takes the heart and soul of the first Yooka-Laylee and builds on it with what we know now. The controls are sharper, the exploration is smoother, the worlds are denser, and the progression is more satisfying.

Yooka-Replaylee doesn’t reinvent the genre, but it refines it with confidence. Its open structure, responsive movement, and varied challenges come together to create a platformer that’s easy to sink into and satisfying to complete.

Yooka-Replaylee rebuilds the 2017 original from the ground up with smoother controls, sharper visuals, and a tighter world design. It keeps the lighthearted humour and classic collect-a-thon spirit while fixing the rough edges that once held it back. The orchestral soundtrack and cleaner performance make it feel like a proper modern platformer that still respects its roots. It’s not revolutionary, but it finally delivers the fun fans were hoping for the first time around.

Yooka-Replaylee is fun, but it lacks the sense of wonder that those old games to create. The various worlds themselves still feel kind of generic, even with the redesigns (ice level, swamp level, vague space pirate level, you get the idea), and yet somehow are also incredibly convoluted and hard to traverse (hence the map).

Yooka-Replaylee is the kind of game that knows exactly what it is, a 3D platformer packed to the brim with collectibles, quirky characters, and colorful worlds. It doesn't try to reinvent the genre or push the platforming forward in any major way, and that's both its comfort and its curse.

Yooka-Replaylee takes everything the original did and amplifies it with care, polish, and passion. It’s a game that celebrates the past without being trapped by it. Whether you’re chasing Quills, hunting Pagies, or simply vibing to the orchestra-backed nostalgia, this remake feels like a long-overdue love letter to fans — and a sign that Playtonic has truly come into its own. Yooka-Replaylee is what Yooka-Laylee was always meant to be.

Yooka-Replaylee refines the original with better visuals, smoother gameplay, and all abilities unlocked from the start. Worlds are fuller and more rewarding to explore, supported by strong art direction and music. Performance could be better, but it’s a charming and polished upgrade overall.
