Pokémon Pokopia Reviews
Where Animal Crossing does eventually become a series of routines that you get stuck into until eventually it becomes dull, Pokopia resists falling into the same box by simply giving you so many objectives for when you don’t feel like simply inhabiting the world. Which is just as well, because we’re all going to need a lot of this kind of calming escapism over the next few years.
Pokémon Pokopia could well be the Animal Crossing of Nintendo Switch 2. A familiar world that needs rejuvenation, brimming with potential and a cast of colourful favourites to join the ride. Pokopia has a surprising amount of depth, encouraging both exploration and more structured missions to keep the fun flowing. With almost boundless craft and customisation, the game highlights the strength of the hardware - a technical showcase of a world that rarely stutters, if at all. As a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, Pokémon Pokopia has the potential to become a system seller; a cosy essential with a sprinkling of Pokémon nostalgia.
A cozy and lively lifesim that sheds a different light on the series while also being geared towards everyone who enjoys Animal Crossing or Dragon Quest Builders. Less grind and better QoL features would've made for a smoother experience, though.

Pokemon Pokopia is a surprisingly addictive spin-off that focuses on exploration, habitat building, and developing your own living Pokemon community instead of combat. The most fun comes from experimenting with ‘recipes’ for new environments, crafting, and terraforming, although over time the grind and the demands imposed by the tasks become more noticeable. If you're looking for a peaceful game in the style of Animal Crossing + Minecraft with a Pokémon skin, you've come to the right place – but you have to accept that it's a completely different experience than the classic instalments of the series.

In crafting a story of hope, restoration, and recovery, Pokémon Pokopia promises time-sinking fun without over-complicating the process. The best Pokémon spin-off to date, it serves as both nostalgic fuel and a love letter to the original Kanto-focused titles.
Pokemon Pokopia invites us to discover, explore, rebuild, and reconnect, rewarding us for every action along the way.
Pokémon Pokopia is the kind of game where you start thinking you're just going to finish a building, and before you know it, you're looking for materials for another house, trying to figure out how to attract a new Pokémon, and planning to completely transform a part of the city that was already finished. It didn't invent this feeling, but it knows how to recreate it very well.

My encouragement to you? Take your time. Enjoy. Play at your own pace. This game is here to stay and there is no reward for rushing, aside from a headache. [...] If there is a significant other in your life. Do yourself a favour. Find a way to buy them a switch 2 and Pokopia to play on as well.
Pokopia is a must play for anyone looking for a relaxing time in the Pokemon world with the occasional bump going down the blocks.
Pokémon Pokopia is a very pleasant mix of many games from the “cozy games” genre. But it doesn’t feel like a rip-off at all. Fun, engaging and relaxing.

Pokémon Pokopia is a game I didn’t know I needed, but I’m so glad we have it. It’s a fantastic tribute to the Pokémon series and the 30th anniversary, fusing the cozy genre with the thrill of finding new Pokémon, full of intuitive progression and thorough, brilliantly designed systems. This is a beautiful, addictive, hard to put down adventure.
Pokémon Pokopia is a very pleasant surprise. The departure from the original concept has paid off and brought a breath of fresh air to the genre. The game doesn’t rush you and lets you set your own pace. The possibilities here are almost limitless, and there’s always something new to discover. Thanks to special events and upcoming expansions, you won’t get bored of the game any time soon. In terms of music and graphics, there’s nothing to fault. I do have minor reservations about the quests, which are unfortunately repetitive, and the story isn’t the focus of the game. Occasionally, the inventory also annoyed me, pulling me out of my pleasant relaxation. Mining certain resources is tedious and can become tiresome. Overall, though, it’s a brilliant game. Quests weren’t a priority for me; I much preferred spending my time beautifying my island. Despite a few minor shortcomings, Pokémon Pokopia has perfectly captured what it sets out to be – a peaceful, creative and addictive relaxing game that I was happy to return to, and whose atmosphere easily made up for its weaker points.

Pokémon Pokopia takes a risk by pushing the series in a completely different direction, and it absolutely pays off. It captures what makes Pokémon special while layering it into a genre that feels like a perfect fit.
Pokémon Pokopia is a lot better than I could have imagined from its horrendous reveal trailer, and it consumed my free time over the past few days and weeks. It’s one of the most content-filled and charming Pokémon games to date, with a great plot and addictive gameplay loop. Now, do I think it is THE absolute killer app available on the Switch 2? Far from it. It is still, at the end of the day, a slightly stripped down version of a superior game made by the same development team. It pales in comparison to the insanity that is the Dragon Quest Builders series.
Pokémon Pokopia has shattered pretty much all the expectations I had of this game, and it deserves every praise it can get. This is precisely the type of game that, even if you boot it up for just a few short minutes, I guarantee you there will always be something that can be done, and before you notice, it's been half an hour, and you're still engrossed in it. Whether that time be spent looking for artifacts, decorating your islands, or even meeting new Pokémon, there's something for everyone to enjoy here.
A builder full of heart and personality, turning the reconstruction of a ruined world into something relaxing, creative, and deeply satisfying. A small spin-off that absolutely deserves to be played.
