Nothing in Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta is going to blow your hair back (besides maybe some of its electric guitar riffs), but that’s not the goal of any Ys game, and for a largely untouched port of a 15-year-old entry, it’s actually remarkable how modern and fun it still feels. Its unique setup and world coupled with fast-paced and flashy fun action make this an extremely easy recommendation for not just any newcomers looking to get into the series (the unin-ys-iated???), but even general RPG fans that never got around to this entry like me.

Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta is a good entry in the long-running action RPG series, but it's far from the best. Despite the game's title, the plot is forgettable but the explosive combat, charming characters, and booming soundtrack are engaging enough to keep your attention until the credits roll.Adol has had more memorable adventures on Nintendo Switch, but mapping out the Great Forest of Celceta is still a fun time.

The bosses are a little weak, and it is a bit on the shorter side of the JRPG spectrum at twenty hours, but I feel like that's a genuine strength of the game. If you've never played Ys before, this is a great entry point for any newcomer.

Memories of Celceta isn’t my favorite Ys game, but if you have a Switch 2, Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta is probably the best way to play it. It’s a Vita game very much of its time, with some growing pains as a Ys entry, but the extra juice you get from Nintendo’s new platform helps realize the original vision as a 3D Ys delivering a higher fidelity experience on a handheld.

From its engrossing and entertaining plot to the detailed and multifaceted gameplay, I had fun throughout my entire playthrough of the original Ys: Memories of Celceta, and I also had fun picking up this enhanced Switch version years later. Adol’s story has always been about the excitement and sense of adventure one gets when losing themselves in a journey, and Celceta captures that feeling poignantly. Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta might not be the most extensive remaster, but the original was such a solid ARPG experience that it still stands strong, despite its more dated graphics. Returning players may or may not be convinced to replay the game, but Ys Memoire: Revelations of Celceta is certainly worth newcomers trying out if they haven’t yet experienced the Celcetan journey!

Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta is still the same game from the PlayStation Vita. It is still a solid title to play with a strong core gameplay loop. It still has some of the problems of being made for that hardware, like its graphics and party AI.

While this Nintendo iteration doesn't add much, it preserves the base game, which is a dependable, valuable action-RPG with an engaging narrative, excellent combat, and lots of worthwhile content.

It’s important to compare this to Ys X: Nordics, a game that also made a significant impact. While Nordics is a solid title, Revelations in Celceta, presented here at its best, is truly exceptional. Returning to Celceta is a journey you owe to yourself.

It lacks the depth of movement abilities and character interactions that have come from Ys VIII through X, but it still manages to offer a very compelling adventure almost the whole way through. For anyone who missed playing an earlier version of Celceta or who just loves a solid action-RPG with fast-paced combat and movement, Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta is an easy recommendation. I'm hoping it won't be long until we see Adol's next adventure or revisit another of his old ones.

If you have never played or owned the original release of Celceta, or you are simply looking for a budget-friendly way to introduce the Ys series into your life, Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta is an easy recommendation. On the other hand, if you already own or have played a previous version, there just is not enough new here to strongly justify a double or even triple dip. Outside of the remixed soundtrack, this is largely a straightforward port designed to bring the game to platforms it had not already reached.

Ultimately, Ys Memoire: Revelations Celceta is a solid and engaging experience that shines primarily in its fast-paced and well-structured combat. Even with minor narrative inconsistencies, the game perfectly captures the adventurous spirit of the series, making it an excellent way to revisit, or discover, this classic journey.

Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta might not be the newest entry in the series, but it still holds up well today. The story is fairly straightforward and occasionally repeats itself, but it serves its purpose as a backdrop for the real highlights: fast-paced combat and enjoyable exploration. The action-focused battle system remains incredibly fun to play, and gradually mapping out the mysterious forest adds a strong sense of adventure to the experience. While the visuals reflect the game’s origins on older hardware, the Switch version runs smoothly and still captures the spirit of the original release. For long-time Ys fans, this is a welcome addition to the Switch library. For newcomers looking for an accessible action RPG with quick combat and plenty of exploration, it’s also a great place to start. It might be a revisit to a past adventure, but Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta still delivers an enjoyable journey through one of the series’ most memorable settings. Here’s hoping more of the past Ys series makes its way to Switch.
