Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta Reviews
Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta is as solid on Switch as it ever was, and if you’ve never played the game and you’re coming off Ys X: Nordics, Celceta is a great way to check out not only the story immediately after Ys X, but to experience one of the games that laid the groundwork for systems seen on other Ys games. Still, $60 is a little steep for this game when you can get the same experience for at least half the price on PS4 or PC.
Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta is the same game it's always been, brought to a new and popular platform, with a new soundtrack that’s not up to snuff. I’m glad Switch owners will be able to play Memories in Celceta; it’s just difficult to recommend the game, considering the PC version is five dollars cheaper and doesn’t have a worse soundtrack. I hope Falcom has bigger plans for its future remasters because this was a little disappointing.
Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta, dear readers, is a game from the Ys saga, with all the good things included in the package. I really enjoyed revisiting this adventure, and I think it should be on the list of JRPGs that everyone should try.

There are many different things in Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta. It has fast combat, rewarding exploration, and important progression systems, so on the one hand, it's a lot of fun to play.
It’s easy to enjoy Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta for what it is: a fast and straightforward JRPG that still feels good to play even years later. However, its age shows in ways that are almost impossible to ignore. It’s a decent entry for newcomers curious about Ys, but returning players may find there’s just not enough to justify another trip through Celceta.
Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta is a very solid way to revisit one of the saga's most interesting installments, respecting its essence while adding small tweaks that make it more accessible and appealing today. Its agile combat, constant exploration, and carefully crafted soundtrack still work very well, demonstrating that the original's foundation was truly strong. Although it suffers from some limitations inherent to its classic design, the experience remains fresh and enjoyable from beginning to end. Ultimately, this remaster serves both as a way to discover Ys IV in its official version and to rediscover an adventure that still has much to offer.

The isometric action RPG may start sluggishly, but it recovers recovers soon enough to become a fun entry in this long-running franchise.
My experience with Revelations in Celceta was generally satisfying from beginning to end, and I feel that, thanks to Revelations in Celceta, I feel more connected to the franchise than ever before. I hope that the rich and intriguing universe of Ys continues to captivate me with its new titles and occasional re-releases.

As a port, Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta will get the job done. It’s very no frills, and if you’re a fan of this title, that’s fine. That being said, my thoughts on this game are incredibly mixed. It’s filled with growing pains in both design and narrative intent, ones that would pay off in the superb follow-up in Ys VIII, but here they leave a lot to be desired. While the basic hack-and-slash gameplay is fun, the exploration isn’t quite up to scratch because of the pacebreaking nature of the Unique Actions in conjunction with its generally linear progression structure, and the main story not being interesting enough to maintain my motivation. Bosses fare a lot better, however, being genuinely fun to master and leveraging combat mechanics in ways that are always interesting. Outside of that, the game is inoffensive at worst, but the Memoire iteration disappoints because all it adds is a mediocre iteration of a soundtrack that was originally great. I think this is worth playing for fans of Ys because it gives you a real appreciation for how far the series has come since then, and that alone still makes it an interesting game.
