It raises, with insight and calm, directly and indirectly, profound reflections on human nature, on the need to socialize to survive, on loneliness. All this while controlling ants with pulsating noses, which awkwardly emit funny noises, busy solving brilliant puzzles in an uninhabited environment.

Without a doubt, this game can be considered one of the best indie games of the year. It’s hard to find games that understand so well that fun can also come simply from playing alongside your friends.

Big Walk is not a game that wows you with amazing gameplay or a complex story. Its shocks reside elsewhere. They lie in the way it makes voice and distance and the presence of others the very tools of growth. They lie in the way it can make one night with ten individuals, half of whom are complete strangers, truly memorable.

Big Walk is definitely not a game for everyone. And unless you have a good friend or a tight-knit group of people who love puzzles and a bit of strategy, you’ll likely find more frustration than fun in this new project from the creators of Untitled Goose Game. But if you enjoy puzzle games, this is definitely something you’ll thoroughly enjoy, despite its certain shortcomings.

Big Walk succeeds by turning communication itself into the heart of its cooperative adventure. Its strongest puzzles emerge from simple mechanics, environmental awareness, and the unpredictable interactions that happen when a group of friends tries to solve problems together. A handful of less inventive challenges and some technical rough edges keep it from feeling completely polished, but they do little to diminish a multiplayer experience that consistently rewards curiosity, experimentation, and teamwork.

Big Walk is a charming co-op adventure that turns exploration and simple puzzles into memorable moments with friends. Its slow pace and lack of matchmaking may limit its appeal, but the experience shines with the right group.

Big Walk works because, at its heart, it understands that multiplayer games don’t need to be competitive, combative, or constantly active to be enjoyable. The best moments come from communication, exploration, mistakes, and unforeseen circumstances that arise when a group of people works together to solve problems.

Big Walk is one of the biggest surprises of 2026; it’s a relatively simple premise that keeps unwrapping layers the more you play.

Gather your friends and pack some jokes, because the walks can get pretty long. With minimal guidance, the game throws you into an adventure of solving clever puzzles that should keep the whole crew engaged right to the end, despite a feeling that it all could have been even more memorable.

You may be surprised to see how generic I was in reviewing Big Walk, and then glancing at the rating I gave it, but it's exhilarating to be faced with a title that deserves your full attention, yet my description of it would deprive you of the joy of discovering it. It's a title I recommend to everyone, without hesitation or exclusion: the premise is that of an online cooperative game that asks you to embark on a journey (of about 15-20 hours) that, I swear on all that's dearest to me, you won't easily forget, and that might even bring a tear or two to your eyes as the credits roll. It has no explicit narrative, no golden path for the player to follow, and you'll have to make every step, every puzzle, and every gourd your own. But, ultimately, every memorable journey is so for the memories it leaves you with and for the people who helped create them. If you want to try it, Big Walk is also on PS Plus, otherwise you can trust me and take a leap of faith and buy it on sale for around €15. Ignore the YouTubers who try it in single player and without understanding a thing call it a Squid Game without the squid, ignore the unmotivated hatred that now moves entire communities against a product just because they are people with very sad lives: grab your headphones, call your friends, and spend 15 hours testing yourself among the sweet sounds and welcoming colors of the best indie game of this year and undoubtedly a game worthy of being included in the Olympus of the best games of all time.

I’m certain that over the next few months, and maybe even years, I’ll be sending messages to my friend group to ask, “Who wants to take a Big Walk?”

Big Walk brought back the feeling we had been missing for years: starting a game without knowing what awaited us, and then finding ourselves never wanting to leave it. It successfully blends fun, cooperation, and comedy into a combination that is rarely achieved, delivering an experience full of creative ideas where you and your friends create your own stories, but with one condition: you must choose the right friends to experience it with.

Big Walk is a standout surprise that celebrates social connection through immersive exploration, intuitive level design, and creative puzzles. While a few minor technical issues exist, they don't dull the game's charm. Gather some friends and dive in blind to enjoy its mix of laughter and quiet wonder. It's a fun, surprisingly touching reminder of our social nature.

Big Walk is a game about walking and talking with your friends through a gorgeous visual and sonic environment modeled on the Australian bush. Escape-room-style puzzles offer just the right amount of challenge. It’s a game that encourages trust, bonding, and communication. Walking the island, our momentum picks up as the vistas, free public transportation, and smartly designed puzzles inspire us to focus on enjoying our time together. The game principally cultivates affinity, and it shines bright in the epiphanies sown throughout the friendscape, shared warmly and excitedly between players.

Released at this time, 'Big Walk' offers exceptional enjoyment with just two simple elements: adventure with friends and puzzles. There are no difficult controls or pressure to compete; simply solving unknown problems together with friends provides enough fun to keep you entertained for hours. This is a game that demonstrates just how special that so called 'simple fun' can be.
