Critic Reviews for Proteus
Proteus is a beautiful getaway from gaming traditions. Just remember: you can look, but no touching.
An inspired dynamic score makes for some sublime hiking, but its somewhat slim and repetitive for the asking price.
Proteus is a brief experience, and for all its mysteries, has a disarmingly straightforward message about nature and mortality.
Impressive efforts with a few noticeable problems holding them back. Won't astound everyone, but is worth your time and cash.
Proteus is part interactive travelogue, part Brian Eno mix tape; and the only certainty is, the parts add up to something sublime
Even though this is a new re-release of a title that had already been launched twice before in Japan, there is a lingering sense that the game deserved more polish—an issue that isn't fully resolved even by the Switch 2 version, despite its superior resolution and performance. Still, for those drawn to the premise, the game’s appeal outweighs its flaws, and I really enjoyed getting to know the girls and diving deeper into the gameplay.
