If you’re after a straight-up action shooter, you could do a lot worse than Resident Evil 6, but if you’re looking for an experience similar to the earlier games in the series, then you definitely won’t find that here.

As in previous versions, Resident Evil 6 is a game that you can love or hate, depending on what you expect. If you're looking for classical survival, you won't find it here... but if you are looking for mindless action movie full of content, you will like it. The Switch port is at least very good: it looks and moves like a charm.

Easily the worst game out of the entire main series. This is a bad game, not just a bad Resident Evil game. Go play just about anything else instead of spending your time here.

The Chris and Jake campaign should have been less of a testosterone fest, instead playing more like Leon’s campaign instead. Or, better yet, Resident Evil 5‘s “Lost in Nightmares” DLC. Sherry and Jake’s campaign has a nice balance between tension and action that should have been fleshed out to a far greater degree. The problem that Resident Evil 6 has is that it’s three — or four — games squashed into one, desperately suffering from an identity crisis. With such an emphasis on choice and variation, it does nothing well. We get suspense with Leon, a thriller with Jake and action with Chris, but by the time you get into the groove of each campaign, it’s over. Capcom has tried to do a far too much with just one title, and the franchise moves backward as a result.

A bold but ultimately damned experiment, the game unfortunately does not offer any huge benefits in its PlayStation 4 re-release. Admittedly, the action orientated gameplay can be rather fun but does become stale rather quickly, particularly given just how long each of the four campaigns can be.

While it's admirable that Capcom tried to make the game appealing to the largest possible audience, it was unnecessary. Games should be made not to generate the most income, but to be as unique. The similarity of Chris Redfield's campaign to Modern Warfare and the like is inexcusable; we need a Resident Evil game, not a "third-person shooter, only this time with rocket launcher-wielding zombies." More importantly, Resident Evil 6 fails to deliver something skill-demanding, and is mainly frustrating and mediocre in most respects. The Resident Evil series: revived, surviving, or killed? Surviving, but pleading for death and reincarnation.

Resident Evil 6 for PS4 and Xbox One offer players the same overall experience from the original title. Most gamers familiar with the series already know whether they’ll be playing the game again. But for those on the fence or those who have never played it before, the cheap price tag, the addition of all DLC, and working/enjoyable multiplayer mode makes the game a potentially worthwhile buy.

As expected, Resident Evil 6 — four years after its original release — remains one of the series’ most underbaked, underdeveloped and downright unappealing entries in a franchise that has claimed far greater heights in terms of gameplay and presentation.

Undoubtedly more successful than Resident Evil 5, this sixth episode of one of the greatest series of video games has a hard time provoking an unalterable enthusiasm.

It may come as a surprise that Resident Evil 6 has had a visual upgrade in the new gen, with it being one of the weakest in the series. But that that said, it still looks great and is still a lot of fun, despite being more acti...

Resident Evil 6 continues down the divergent path of shaping the series into more of a third-person shooter game than survival horror, but there’s so much content here that’s actually fun to play through it’s difficult to criticize it too much. Resident Evil 6 HD won’t convert any haters, but if you loved the 2012 release and can’t wait to jump back into it with a friend, this is still the same game you enjoyed from four years ago.

If you didn't play RE6 on previous gen and want to play it now, this is the best version of the title and the easiest way to do it.

You can't polish a turd, and Resident Evil 6 is proof. This remaster may look the part at points, but its limp collection of lacklustre campaigns will leave you feeling dead inside. A low price point means that co-op enthusiasts may get some mileage out of the solid Mercenaries mode, but make no mistake, this is still a quivering corpse of a game. Avoid like a C-Virus plague.

‎All in all, with the re-release of Resident Evil 6, little new is conjured up on your screen compared to the original. What you do get are four (!) well-balanced storylines with occasional forced and unnecessary ‎‎quick-time events,‎‎crazy camera angles and ‎‎clunky‎‎ controls. However, the graphical improvements, good co-op implementation and reduced price (you only pay 20 euros for Resident Evil 6 in the online stores) certainly make this a ‎‎must‎‎for the newcomers, and for the enthusiast a chance to experience Resident Evil 6 again.‎

‎The game, in general, is only as good as the original. But, as a new edition, it is only up to the task for new users. Perhaps, for loyal fans, it's not as good a celebration as one might expect.‎

Four years after the original release, Resident Evil 6 is pretty much the same game. The HD version shows the usual technical improvements of many other remaster (1080p and 60 frame per second), but nothing more. Disappointing for the fanbase, Resident Evil 6 is a huge title but is somehow inconsistent, unable to pursue neither the fast paced action of the fourth chapter, nor the survival horror spirit of the origins.

Boasting a mostly decent remastering effort and a much welcomed wealth of content set against a frustratingly incoherent set of campaign scenarios and frustrating clunkiness, Resident Evil 6 on PS4 is the definitive edition of the series’ most divisive entry and is perhaps more easily recommended to the uninitiated rather than those who were turned off by the game’s original PS3 outing.

While still not my favorite in the series, it’s still a fun action game, especially with a buddy going through it with you. Also, for 20 bucks, you’re getting a giant package. A full 25-30 hour campaign, tons of multiplayer modes, and a really solid looking action horror game. The Resident Evil fans should really pick this up even if it isn’t the best game in the series.
