Layers of Fear: Inheritance Reviews
It may not reach the heights of the original game, but "Inheritance" is still a commendable return to this creepy house.
There is a pervasive feeling of – been there, done that – from which Inheritance cannot shake off.
Inheritance isn’t much cop as a horror, missing the power of the unknown that Layers of Fear possessed. It’s as a wonderfully surreal epilogue to the main story where it works best.
Putting it simply, if you enjoyed Layers of Fear and wanted more, Inheritance is exactly what you’re hoping for. It’s a touch on the short side, but makes up for this a bit by presenting three possible endings.
With a solid script and fewer unrelenting jump scares than the original game, Layers of Fear: Inheritance offers closure for both the player and characters.

If you enjoyed Layers of Fear, I think it is worth checking out the DLC. The DLC provides a new perspective in to the environment of the first game that makes you feel for the painter and everyone involved. Shorter gameplay allows you to experience everything the DLC has to offer, endings included. However, If you're looking for scares, this isn't the game for you.

Layers of Fear: Inheritance will not edify those who found the base game didn't have enough action. However, it's a more honest horror experience. While the original tried to wow the audience with it's crazy hallucinations, Inheritance clearly just wants to remind you there's a person under there, suffering through them.
This DLC had a few good moments but it wasn't really all that fun to play. The game is best for people who just really would like some more backstory or insight, but those who could do without that or isn't a huge fan of the original should probably pass.

Layers of Fear: Inheritance is a good DLC that will certainly please fans of the original game. It brings some nice changes to game concept, but unfortunately it doesn't last very long.

Coming off of the phenomenal Layers of Fear, the Inheritance DLC lacks the charm and the atmosphere that the original offered in spades. The scares came across as forced and weak. Bundled with the original game, it's not a bad value proposition, but as a stand-alone purchase it can safely be avoided.
Inheritance is a unique continuation of this thriller.
Frankly, aside from a few infinite loop rooms that are not quite as bad as oral surgery but close enough, there's nothing fascinating about this "I can't reach it" simulator. The big chairs look really neat, but that fades pretty quickly into the realization that you have to watch the bastard you just were in the first game, but you can't really do much about it. Also, playing a toddler doesn't really hold a candle to playing a brilliant artist trying to piece together his spiral into alcohol fueled madness. You just mud wrestled the smoking hot girl from accounting, and now she wants to play a game called "couples therapy". There was promise, but it quickly fizzled into a less magical ride around the set of a movie you once loved.
