Fans of anything Marvel has created in the last 75+ years will come away from LEGO Marvel Super Heroes satisfied, as will those who regularly turn up for and enjoy TT Games' LEGO releases. The game by no means introduces any fundamental changes, but it's charming, well designed, and endless engaging all the same.

A few technical hiccups and minor quibbles aside, Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 tops off a great year for comic book properties with a fun, varied adventure.

With split-screen co-op, and incredibly gentle expectations as far as the gameplay is concerned, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is a fantastic, low-stakes game for parents and kids to play together, but also for adults who are looking for something that pleasantly whiles away the hours without beating you over the head with difficulty. Excelsior!

There are minor improvements here but the next gen versions of Lego Marvel still rely on charm and fan service more than technical finesse.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is arguably the most ambitious entry in Traveller's Tales' long-running series, and it's an extremely enjoyable one at that. The developer's delivered a title that will appeal to casual players and die-hard Marvel fans alike, which is a laudable achievement. Granted, the game doesn't do much to take advantage of the PS4's supercharged hardware – but when the core action's this fun, we're not even sure that the Hulk would be able to get angry about that.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes has plenty to offer to Lego and Marvel fans alike. A brisk but well-paced story takes you on an enjoyable ride while constantly introducing new characters and locations. Fantastic vocal performances and comedic writing make great use of the Marvel characters from both the movies and the comic books, and it's topped off by an entertaining open world to let players mess around with characters to their heart's content. Some small graphical and control issues remind you that this isn't a modern title, but that said, once you're flying around Manhattan as Iron Man, these flaws are soon forgotten.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes might just be the perfect game to keep kids occupied these holidays, as it's crawling with familiar faces, voices and some downright charm. Just be cautioned however, as several flaws may make you angry. And you wouldn't like this game when you get angry.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes isn't a revolutionary or unique experience. However, it does what it promises to do quite well, and offers quite a bit of quality content for a below average price tag. As such, it's easy to recommend.

"Lego Marvel Heroes" is the rare breed of game that is a delight for all ages, which is perfect due to its slant towards co-op play. At the below-average price of $50, it is well worth the money. It's one of the best family friendly games to come out this year, and will be a sure hit for fans of the Marvel series.

The LEGO series sticks to its formula of accessible puzzles, gags and simple gameplay mechanics. While this coherence is overall positive, it's not improving where it should. Nonetheless, the overwhelming presence of the Marvel universe and the amount of unlockable content are well enough for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes to please the fans of both the comic and the game series alike.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is an enjoyable mash-up of every single Marvel character you can think of in a unique LEGO environment. It's not my favorite LEGO game, however the sheer amount of Marvel characters makes it fun for any fan. Keep in mind this is an eight-year-old game, so maybe watch for a sale on this one.

It's not a hard game by any means. Most puzzles are simple and straightforward, and missions always give you prompts as to which character is necessary for each obstacle.
